People can do it.

Today's Tids Issue 5,152

We're surrounded:

Without daily newspapers how will kids ever learn to make paper mache sculptures. They could do it through VR, but it would never be the same.

A survey after the ending of the mask for flyers mandate, shows that the vast majority of Americans would continue to wear masks o on planes. See, people have an ability to make their own reasonable judgments without being compelled to do so by faceless bureaucrats.

One of the small thrills of spring is pulling the cord on your lawnmower and hearing it roar to life after a long winter’s hibernation.

This week is like a candy store for football fans trading opinions as the NFL draft looms for Thursday evening. Everybody is a General Manager.

The rumblings out of France are that Macron won what is being called the “Least Worst Choice Election”. Sound familiar?

A man went into a seafood restaurant and asked for a lobster tail. The waitress smiled sweetly and said, “Once upon a time there was this handsome lobster…”

The Question:

Name five of the best Renee Zellweger movies.

The more the government looks to coddle and homogenize society, the less the average human being will able be to take care of themselves

Now it appears that states are passing laws to protect umpires from harm while working children's softball, baseball and all sorts of games that kids play, and parents disrupt. Umpires are saying “We are mad, and we can’t take it anymore. And they are leaving something they used to love, in droves. I thought we had moved away from the caves.

Here‘s a joke form 1926: “A bird in the hand is bad table manners.” Today your just eating KFC. Manners?

I don’t believe that government should create laws to avenge disliked business operations. Florida's Desantis just did what I detest in government, interfering in the operations of private enterprise. This was simply revenge which is the worst motivation for government action. Free societies shouldn't have to worry about the whims of a public official with power. Let Disney go out of business through its own mismanagement, not by government edict.

A letter to the newspaper supporting abortion and signed by multiple women seemed to dig deep for another ploy to justify abortions. It seemed to say quite clearly that the RI state economy would be better (And they had a number of $365M) if babies were eliminated so mothers could continue working. Maybe I misread it, but that’s what it seemed to say to me. Where have we gone? It almost sounded like a sick joke – kill babies to improve the economy?

Interesting, RI has for years now been listed as the worst place for business, a significant reason why our economy lags. But now it appears it could also be a forbidding place for aspiring mothers.

A health club for religious minorities is called “Johovas Fitness. * (Thanks to Shoe for that One)!!

One of my favorite all time movies is 1979’s “Being There”, with Peter Sellers. It is about how mis-reporting can get out of control and undeniable truths can be made of nothing.

Housing Crisis, Department:

“Your mother has been with us for 20 years,” said John. “Isn’t it time she got a place of her own?” “My mother?” replied Helen. “I thought she was your mother.”

Current culture seems to be making it easier for more and more people to move away from being responsible.

The Answer:

Chicago considered Renee’s top movie. Tha rest in order are Bridget Jones Diary, Judy, Cold Mountain, Jerry McGuire, Nurse Betty, White Oleander, Obe True Thing, Miss Potter and, #10, Cinderella Man.

Here a joke from columnist Water Winchell in 1940: “An American was being shown a big Soviet sign factory. ‘We turn out about 500 signs a week,’ proudly said the Russian, ‘and when business demands it, we can step it up to 2,000.’

‘Amazing!’ said the visitor. ‘By the way, what do the signs say?’

‘Elevators not running,’ was the answer.” I guess post Bolshevik Russia has always been a joke.

Happy beginning of the week, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
