Emotions are good.

Today's Tids Issue 5,392

Owning choices:

It’s always nice when a pod of dolphins visits one of our bays or harbors. People just seem to smile.

Today's Fed move will probably be one of raising the rate a bit again a with implications that the FED has tools to quell the banking anxiety. That is a description of a tightrope.

The real problem is that people in general are just nervous about money and will always overreact to the slightest glitch exacerbating the bigger picture.

As I get older and I remember all the people I’ve lost along the way, I think to myself, maybe a career as a tour guide wasn’t for me.

The Question:

Think that if the USA political scene becomes so irrational that you might just have to move elsewhere... What are considered the best countries to move to.

The Headlines:

--Stocks Stumbling Moderately as All Eyes Turn to Powell.

--Xi and Putin all Smiles as They Ink “Dear Friend” Pact.

--Earthquake Hits Pakistan and Afghanistan;

--Russian Missiles Hit C University Dormitory Kiev; Civilian Living Centers also Targeted.

--Arkansas’s Huckabee Signs Bill That Restricts Bathroom Use by Transgender People Preschool to Grade 12; Arkansas Fourth Sate ot do so.

A member of Nick Sabin's powerhouse Alabama football team was arrested a few days ago. Sabin immediately removed him from the team and any other associated activities. He said this:

Everybody’s got an opportunity to make choices and decisions. There’s no such thing as being in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Saban said. “You have to be responsible about who you’re with, who you’re around, what you do and who you associate yourself with, along with the situations you put yourself in.” He concluded, “It is what it is, but there is cause and effect when you make choices and decisions that put you in bad situations.” I like that. It’s a pretty good principle for living responsible life as so much of the effects of irresponsible behavior is often rationalized these days. What is really interesting is that the coach of Alabama’s basketball team was faced with situation where his super star player brought a gun to a teammate who used it to shoot and kill an innocent young mother. This coach, Nate Oats said: “We knew about that. Can’t control everything anybody does outside of practice,” “Nobody knew that was going to happen. College kids are out, Brandon hasn’t been in any type of trouble nor is he in any type of trouble in this case. Wrong spot at the wrong time.” I'll take Nick Saban.

The Earth’s plates seem to be moving a lot lately, all over the world. That bothers me more than what happens to politicians.

The big question of the day: Why can’t hedgehogs just share.

More poignant than ever, Department:

A loyal reader yesterday was inspired by another reader’s contribution to give us tis from an olde Burma Shave sign series: "Spring has sprung, Grass has riz, Where last year's careless drivers iz."

Reese eats steak with her fork but soup always with her spoon.

“Get Even” at all costs, Department:

A headline a I read this morning said, America enters its Banaa Republic stage”. That would be if they indict Trump. Four the last several decades we have been tiptoeing towards third world mediocrity by creating a “Get even” society and all that does is set precedents that undermine the basic concept of America: You are elected and stay in office until you are voted out, and we always accept the results. This is really the saddest part of America today. Politics in America have become stupid.

I am probably the worst poker player on the planet because I always smile when I get a good hand. And I think a boisterous Eeeehaaaa! is a dead give-away. That may be why I hate gambling.

Well, here I am! What are your other two wishes?

The Answer:

Number one place to move would be easy, if they let you in – Canada. Next is New Zealand, followed by Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Australia, Scotland, Netherlands, Finland and #10, Ireland. England is #18 and the USA #27, right in between Belgium and Fiji. The last five on this list of 103 are last place Syria, then Belarus, Jordan, Iran and Venezuela, just ahead of Guatemala, China and Djibouti.

So. If we are #27 on this list of desirability, how come we have a chaotic immigrant problem at our borders? Free Money?

One snowman to another: “Do you smell carrots?”

I’m outta here. Lost my mind earlier and now I have to spend the afternoon looking for it.
