Today's Tids Issue 3,571
Opening Stuff:
President
Obama would be a great ventriloquist. He says one thing
while the other side of his mouth says something entirely different. He has done
this defending obvious wrongdoer in the Cambridge police fiasco and he did it
this weekend when he put on the record his belief in Hillary’s innocence and
more while avowing not to politically intervene if the Justice Department. He basically
saying that despite what the FBI and DoJ conclude, they are wrong if they don’t
agree with my pronouncement of innocence.
Don’t
you love people who
call themselves “New York Times Best Selling Authors”? The NY Times doesn’t
have authors. It just lists books that sell well, like all other lists of books
that sell well. This is one of the most accepted resume scams of our times.
The
local stories are saying that Northeast states
are in a race to become the first to legalize all marijuana. I recall for your
edification the new John Deere slogan that says, “It’s not how fast you mow,
but how well you mow fast.” What in our hazy world does it mean to be first
with weed. Nothing. The revenue will be there when the inevitable laws are
signed by glassy, I mean starry eyed governors. But, it is better to be right
about how to handle the influx of the dazed, and the organization who will make
the dough. As was once noted, criminals still smuggled cigarettes even though
they were legal.
Isn’t
ironic how after the intense anger of sanctimonious politicians
over the evils of smoking, they are racing to fill the tax revenue void with bigger
and better gambling and marijuana. Idiots.
The
Question:
It’s time for “Who are these people?”: Today’s
slate are Jane Withers, Dan Lauria and Ed O’Neill.
The
Headlines:
--Dow Up Near 150 Around 11:30; Soaring Oil
Stimulating Energy Stocks.

Warning Conspiracy”!

A
reader sends me a “Dilbert” cartoon: “When one person
doesn’t understand economics it’s called ignorance. When millions don’t, we
call it a movement.”
Bernie
Sanders was given more fodder yester for his ignorant
movement when it was announced that Goldman Sachs had to pay $5.2 Billion, of which
about half would be returned in tax write-offs. But this isn’t what angered
anti biz activist groups, and average citizens. It is that the heads of the big
banking centers who have paid out over $100 Billion haven’t seen one of their
chiefs going to jail for paralyzing a nation and sending the savings of hard working
Americans into turmoil and devastation.
So, some are surprised that a socialist is doing so well, but it is the core of
capitalism that is actually feeding the aggression of Sanders followers.
BTW,
in a big new poll of all candidates Sanders was found to be by far the “Most
Popular” of all.
Do
you get the feeling that cities and states, now run into
the ground with debt from over spending and high pension demands, are looking
to be bailed out by a litigation bonanza again. Remember all of the dough
that flowed into the states from
ciggies. Now in the headline above you see AG’s going after the deep pockets of
oil companies with their fairy tale impending lawsuit saying oil companies are conspiring
against Global warming, You cannot make this stuff up. Another case of taking
money from the rich to the give to the inept.
The
Voice began its Live contest last night and there were several
excellent performances. In fact, to this tin ear, all were listenable. First Alisan
Porter, who received many accolades, is as good as her praise. She was great
again last night. I also liked a lot Kada Hay, Katie Brasden, Adam Wakefield
and Justin Whisnant. Lets face it, I like Country singers, and they will as in
the past get lots of votes. Alisan ably reaches into that group too. Bryan Bautista
is a very strong singer and did well last night. I thought most disappointing
was Tamar Davis, and the guy who got the least out of the most energy was
Paxton Ingram. Mary Sarah put me to sleep. Ryan Quinn is a good singer and
could stay. I rate Joe Maye and Nick as good and are contenders. As of 1AM
singers in the top 100 ITunes rankings were Alisan (14), Adam (31), Nick (34),
Bryan (42), Joe (70), Katie (71), Ryan (73), Mary Sarah (89) and Kata (93). So,
after Wednesday only three from each team will remain. For Blake I’m seeing
Adam, Katie and Joe or Justin. XTina will surely get Alisan and probably Nick. Bryan
should get #3, but X may want Ryan. Personally, I would like to see Kata. Tonight
we see Adam and Pharell singers go into battle.
Basically
for me, all things equal the song is generally more of
an influence than the singing.
Josh
Gordon and Johnny Manziel are living together. That should
work well for these two who are on the shortest of leashes for past NFL infractions.
Both seem to have a maturity IQ of a 7th grader. No, wait a minute,
7th graders have consciences. Gordon may in fact be the more
talented of the two, but they are equally adept at throwing away Millions! Sad,
very sad.
The
Answer:
Jane Withers, one of the all time great child
stars was, as you probably knew, probably best known as Josephine the Plumber on
the Comet commercials. Dan Lauria is another of those stars you have seen everywhere
in movies and on TV. He received raves for his portrayal of Vince Lombard in
the Broadway show Lombardi”, but is perhaps best known as the money conscious father
in “The Wonder Years”. Ed O’Neill is best known for his role as the main Character
Al Bundy on Married With Children. He is now seen as the patriarch in Modern
Family, after a long career in just about everything.
Have to run!
