Today's Tids Issue 3,567
Opening Stuff:
I
seem to be in one of those butterfly flappin’ round my head
trances. You know those days when flowers bloom and new grass dances. Bewildering,
because the cold’s like winter; yet it still feels like spring. Freezing wave’s
spray hangs on daffodils like dime store bling. When ice on sand crunches neath
your feet, and pink tree buds are encased in sleet. It is one of those days God
made for ponderin’. When your feet don’t move, but your mind is wanderin’
America

They can’t get excited about any candidate.
Weight
loss tip, Department:
The color man for the Boston Red Sox, Jerry Remy,
says he just lost 20 pounds during the off season by cutting his portions in
half. He ate everything he always has but just less of it. In other words there
is no reason to give up favorite foods and replace with stuff that can be downright
tasteless or inedible. It really is always about quantity and balance. Enjoy
your gravy one puddle at a time…not two.
The
Question:
What are the five first flowers of spring? Bonus: Even people who don’t see much
in golf tune in for the Masters. It’s a great sign of spring for Northerners
Which 10 players have the odds makers established as favorites?

What I am really beginning to hate is the way
politicians, academics and US activists rate US activities against averages in
the rest of the world, mainly to make a case for us being inferior. They assume
the rest of the world is right and we are wrong and we better change, or else. Some
Americans are disappointed with their country, the same country that is most desirable
for the largest groups of immigrants. Maybe they should trade places.
Speaking
of crazy, did you read about the new idea to slow down
crime? It has actually been proposed to pay criminals for not committing
crimes. You guessed it, it is a San Fran idea. It sounds like the old gangland
protection racket to me.
Obama:
“Trump, Cruz puzzling to foreign leaders.” Americans: “Obama ineptitude in
foreighn Affairs puzzling to US citizens.” I’m finding it terribly difficult listening
to the President misrepresent facts.
How
come when a DWI hits and kills a pregnant woman, he or she
is tried for two deaths. But nobody is ever tried after an abortion.
Nothing
wowed me this week on The Voice. I kinda liked Laith
al–Saadi, and I will be watching him in the “Lives” along with Adam Wakefield,
Owen Danoff, Alisan Porter. Emily Keener, Hannah Houston and Moushumi. This
year’s Standout may be Allison Porter. Are the producers going for the first
female judge winner in the year of the Hill? Nah, even Hollywood can’t be that
obvious.
I
have mixed emotions on these laws to protect businesses not
serving gays etc. The penalties against generally relatively small businesses often
built over many years though sweat, pain and hardship are draconian, almost
KGB-ish at times. Activists will tend to target these small businesses with
opinions of their own, singling them out for their advantage and not
necessarily fairness for all. I understand the idea of freedom for all in
America. But I also believe in personal beliefs, which has also been deemed
sacred since the beginning of the USA. Buyers always have choices, and rejection
of a business because of a belief foreign to them should be one of those
choices. The marketplace will seek the proper level without government interventions…
on either side.
What
I need to do, is sit down and have one of the
greatest, most fattening, artery killing culinary delights ever – chicken fried
steak with rich creamy gravy. I can hear the ambulance revving up its engine
now.
It
is becoming pretty obvious that the one thing we need most
will not be accomplished by the next President, whoever it is --- Unity. The split
will be bigger than ever.
The
Parking Lot: Chapter 53.
Richard
and Jeremia Hicks were laughing along with the rest of the local men as they
road the last several yards into the Hicks Farm. They had just completed a very
successful two days in the harbor village and were anxious to return home to implement
the agreement and see their families.
Up ahead Richard saw his wife Eliza, and Jeremiah
his love Elizabeth standing together in the doorway of the comfortable home. Their
smiles broadened and the chests swelled.
It was a great
trip thought Richard and the evening will be even better. As he neared, though,
he noticed the grim faces of the two women, so he dug his heels into the flesh
of his beast and rode faster into the small fenced yard. Eliza ran to him. But,
she stopped short of exclaiming out loud anything that may give away the women’s
new secret to the rest. Richard had always said they must keep information to themselves.
Eliza knew that what she had just done was exactly the kind of information Richard
had meant.
Jeremiah,
jumped off is horse, but his father placed his hand on his shoulder to slow him
down. Even the sometimes family firebrand got the message. Elizabeth held his
hand and then went out to say hello to the other men and wave as they left for
their own homes. Everybody it seemed was in a great mood.
Within
minutes it was deadly silent. “Eliza, what is it,” spoke Richard now looking nervous.
“Come,” was
all she said and she and Elizabeth led their men to the forest behind the house
until they reached the body of the dead Zach, and the tied up, still groggy
Aaron. She explained the attempted rape, and Jeremiah enveloped his wife in his
arms while staring bitterly at the lifeless Zach. He was wishing he had been
the killer because it would have been much worse for the Howland boy.

Answer:
The first bright and cheery blossoms probably vary
by region, but around here they are crocus, forsythia, daffodils, tulips and hyacinth.
Unless you all tell me different! Bonus:
The Top Ten favorites according to Bleacher Report with the aid of “Odds Shark”
are: Jason Day, Rory McElroy, Jordan Spieth, Bubba Watson, Adam Scott, Rickie

man’s five favorites to beat the Odds (i.e. Surprises) are Justin Thomas, Danny
Willett, (Amateur) Bryson DeChambeau (Who says he can win it all), Louis
Oosthuizen and Justine Rose. I would also add into the race of those who might –
Brandon Grace.
Moriah
