Today's Tids Issue 3,577
Opening Stuff:
The
big New York voting extravaganza is finally over
and not much out of the ordinary happened after all. Bernie made noise and drew
big crowds but in the end the closed balloting (Registered party members only
and no cross over) killed him. Bernie is great at getting indies and some Repubs
and people who have never registered. Take that away, and the party delivers
The Hill (But will America)?. While the winners basked in the spotlight, a new
NBC poll revealed that 60% of Americans don’t feel they can vote for any of the
leading big three -- Shrill, Thrill and “Hated on the Hill”. (That’s Hillary, Donald
and Ted.)
I
love old inns with creaky floors, and places for
fires to make s’mores.
More
and more doctors are writing books so they can afford
to pay to run their offices.
I
walk the quiet, leafy mountain trails. There is nothing
more magical than the silence of being nowhere. Places where noise is falling
leaves, rippling streams, wind moving branches; birds and animals calling out
to friends and mates. You can feel the country in a country place. The beauty and
comfort of nothingness. I walk the mountain trail that winds down to the
caressing valley below, where wild flowers smile.
The
Question:
We will eventually have to become familiar with new
sports we have never played or watched. One of the hot new ones is called MMA.
What is that? Bonus. Who are Eric
Harris and Dylan Kiebold?

Tonight
marks the premiere of what could be a great new TV Series
on AMC – the adaptation of John LeCarre’s “Night Manager”. It stars Hugh Laurie
as a notorious and meanest man in the world arms dealer, and Tom Huddleston as
a former British soldier, who after a minor incident while in a dead end job as
a clerk in a hotel, is thrust into the world of spies. Acting is great and
story lines tense. I’m there.
Kale
is really a rather innocuous little veritable with no body
and little memorable taste. Yet it has been deemed the food of the moment among the sheep who
seem incapable of following their own drum beat. So I’m thinking that on The
Voice last Night there were a lot of kale eating twitter induced voters
supporting the glitter of the talentless performers symbolic of a cultural
deterioration. It was criminal to see Emily Keener eliminated after she was
clearly one of the three best on Monday’s singing show. Not only that, but
several other of the better performers barely hung on, like Wakefield and
Houston as mediocre so-called cute boys got the votes. What really is scary is
that Kale eaters will be voting for President.
I
look at the great river valleys of the east -- the
Hudson, the Delaware, the Connecticut. I marvel at the way the rivers are
bounded by towering rugged cliffs, perhaps ground out by the ravages of time.
Or by climate changes where the heat of the earth went to ice and returned
again. The earth and the oceans are constantly changing. We just can‘t see it at
all during our own instance here, but we are part of what will come.
What
we can see are more storms and more storms affecting
people. This is mainly due to wall-to-wall weather TV and smart phone services,
more people with the ability to take videos and more people living in areas where
storms have always occurred but had never inflicted the same human damage as
now because nobody was there.
I
remember when Bob’s Store was just a great old Army and Navy
store on Main Street in Middletown Ct. They got in early on the sneaker phenomena
and ran with it. But like so many other things in today’s rapid society, it is
short lived.
Johnny
Manziel’s star studded career was certainly short
lived. In fact just today his super agent Drew Rosenhaus dropped him as client.
Rosenhaus has been a successful agent for 28 years and has never dropped a
client. Manziel is one sad pathetic case. He for sure is in the Ryan Leaf Hall
of Fame. What in him or in society drove him to dismiss what had been handed
him on a silver platter?
The
Answer:
I’m not much interested in it at all, but MMA – Mixed
Martial Arts -- is hot worldwide. Bonus:
Today marks another sad anniversary of the Columbine massacre of school kids,
and Harris and Kiebold were the shooters. I shouldn’t have mentioned their
names.
Well,
gotta go. I’m in a rush. I going to roam across the USA and
find a Republican candidate.
Happy
camel day!
