I like slow dancing.

Today's Tids Issue 3,705
For nice and easy:

Will extraordinary technology advancements create paradigm social, economic and cultural changes too complex and too fast for populations to assimilate, for governments to control? That is the question.

I see where Colin Kaepernick is starting for the first time as QB against the Buffalo Bills this weekend. I wouldn’t be surprised if Buffalo’s rascal coach Rex Ryan had his defensive line humming The Star Spangled Banner as the protesting QB approached the center – hoping he would take a knee stopping play! Or calling defensive schemes “O say can you see, one, two, three.”

I mean, really, do you believe anything either campaign is saying?

Using the old, reliable – “Where there’s smoke there’s fire” axiom – do you get the feeling that all of these calls about impending doom and gloom in the markets are beginning to have legs?

The Question:
Name three Confederate and three Union Civil War generals.

The Headlines:
--S&P Said To be Moving Towards Technical Strangle point That Could Blow Lid Off Market.
--New Evidence Shows ISIS, Hezbollah Using Weaponized Drones.
--Mathew Damage Estimates Approaching $10 Billion; NC Still Reeling From Floods As Water Continues To Mount..

The Tiger tease bordered on Fraud. The relatively obscure “Safeway” PGA event had been heralding the arrival of Tiger Woods in his triumphant return to golf. Ticket sales were going crazy and traffic warnings had already been posted locally. But the great one said he wasn’t to playing well, so he cancelled. Lots of players don’t play well on any given weekend. Hey Tiger, you have to start somewhere.

Incessant Political phone calls have me disliking politicians well before they betray us in office.

Social Media has the ability to turn anecdotal evidence into statistical assurances that have more persuasive capability than reality.

In this world of accusation that seems to override the real important issues dear to American voters, we see a press blatantly taking one side against another. A photo cartoon sent here shows two of the country’s best known womanizers, Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton, standing next to each other. Under Teddy it says: “He drowned a woman.” Under Clinton it says: “He raped a woman”. They together say – “Aren’t you glad we didn’t use dirty words.” – Last night on CBS they did a piece about the how the Trump and Clarence Thomas affairs began national conversations on the abuse of woman. Notice how they cleverly omitted the most flagrant high visibility woman abuser of them all – Bill Clinton. But, that’s what the esteemed press seems to do on all issues -- omit balance.

Speaking of mediocrity, we are back to NFL picks again. It was a 7-7 week bring our total to 33-29. Ugh. Remember how over the years TSD (Tids Sports Department) has highlighted a handful of the top competitive games of the week. This week based on season results, all but two look highly competitive. Denver should rebound over SD and Pittsburgh should take the Dolphins. I think the rest are toss-ups, including NE and Cinncy. Brady looked great coming back, but Cinn has been tough for the Pats. I don’t see the Pats embarrassed two times in three weeks at home. Iggles and Skins are a rivalry and I’m going Skins in an even match. Balt and NYG have both been a notch below winner status. Balt is lower, so I’m giving the Jints a win. Chi disappoints and Jax struggles. Home field doesn’t help Chi. Who woulda thunk that Carolina would have to struggle against so-so NO. I’m picking so-so Saints. LA has moments and Detroit doesn’t. But home fires will make them hot Sunday. Buffalo is looking better each week and SF has struggled. They will hate Cold Northeast NY. Buffalo to have Colin K seeing stars. Cleveland has no QB, so T’s Mariotta will look like Johnny U on that field. A real battle that can go either way is KC and Oak. KC has been a little off this year so I take Oak at home. Atlanta is really hot and Seattle is finding their way after a slow start. I think they will take down the Falcons. GB should be winning easier. Dallas is surprising all. But, GB will ground Ezekial and win. Another battle in the AFC is Huston- Indy. I just don’t have faith in Indy, but I also am underwhelmed by Houston. Home field advantage is he only thing I can think of here. The Jets are better than they look so say some experts. Arizona should be much better than they look. I don’t believe in experts, so I’m going with Arizona. What a week this will be. Every gae is a mystery, even the two I said were easier. Yikes.

In a Mini Voice last night, Michael Sanchez seemed to be the runaway favorite with Ethan Tucker not far behind. O, wait a minute, Ethan didn’t get the call or the save. I guess Courtney’s louder performance over shadowed Ethan’s calming interludes. Ah, sometimes the best are left looking for work. Dave Moisan who sang against Sanchez and was the odds-on early fave was just outperformed by the big winner. But David lives in a save by Adam. Sophie Urista took Lane Mack in a middling match.

The Answer:
There were 583 Union and 425 Confederate generals. So I’m going for Fame with US Grant, William Tecumseh Sherman and George McClelland for the North and Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson and J.E.B. Stuart for the South. Other north are George Custer, Abner Doubleday, (RI’s) Ambrose Burnside, George Meade and Arthur MacArthur.  Other south are James Longstreet, George Pickett and P.G.T. Beauregard.

Fox trot or waltz?
