Today's Tids Issue 3.881
For valor:
How
do you write about the bravery of lions on D-Day when you
weren’t there? How with mere words do you capture the fear in the hearts of
young lads? How do you underhand the determination of men when you aren’t under
assault from bullets and artillery with no place to hide. What is inside a
person that allows them to rise up and move forward against a massive force
owning the high ground. But they did, the rose and they fought, inch by inch,
yards by yards, miles; sweating, muscles acing, alert; bodies of friends
falling. The blood. I don’t know how they did it. And I don’t think I could ever
know unless I did it myself. I can only sit here in awe of men brave, men who overcame
grave fears. A moment in history, not about generals and captains, tanks and
planes, but hearts of humans, finding a way. Never giving up.
Who
created the ruse
For old doctor Seuss.
A ruse a ruse
Not poetry abuse
A ruse not abuse.
I don’t like juice
Juice is the abuse
A goose likes
juice
Juice for a goose,
A use for juice.
A very good use.
Or is it ewes,
Who use the juice
There’s a place for Seuss that's new
A museum to peruse
The Suesskids Choose
Not a ruse.
But there was abuse
His story was told
Above the fold
Between two of gang killing
He would not be willing
To write of Killing.
He would be mad
He would be sad
He would be sad and mad
Was this a news ruse
Or news abuse.
An editor on booze?
Not juice.
Suess folks send boos
To what editors choose.
Better to have juice with a goose
While chasing kangaroos.
Life
is often too much about who’s better than who, rather than collaboration
that would get more out of each other.
Are
we about to become “Predator Nation”? America likes falling in
love with the underdog. What could be better than Country Ice.
“Mah heart was on fire when I met her in “Smashville,
but it got so warm that the ice melted, and the Preds stopped skating”.
The
Question:
Name the hockey teams who play at the following
arena’s. Note, this is a mix of older nicknames which are more pleasant then
most of the new rigid corporate names: Nationwide, “The Forum”, MTS Center,
Saddledome, Joe Louis, “The Rock”, “The Gaahden”, The Ice Palace and “The
Igloo”.

Today’s
whacky, unpredictable, politically correct world will keep the Tids
going for decades, that is if the old Tidster can keep up with it. For instance
just this morning Down in Texas a theater has added a double showing for Wonder
Woman exclusively for, it says, “People who identify themselves as female”. Not
much more than a year ago it would have said simply “Women”. And of course the
whole Wonder Woman thing in general has morphed into a cause celeb. Like it’s
new! I remember loving wonder woman comics 70 or so years ago. She was cool,
strong and just a neat superhero like everybody else. Keep the nutty stuff coming.
The Tids will thrive.
Trump
is taking Main Street media to task for its criticism of his
tweeting. The biggest critics of his Tweets are Repubs who want this government
to work and not be interrupted by sometimes inconceivable presidential
thoughts. This Government could work wonders if he just made decisions and let others
do the talking and tweeting.
My
latest chronic assault on my body involves a preoccupation
of eating Salmon with rich, creamy and utterly delicious Hollandaise sauce, and
fresh blue fish with thick, zesty and incredibly scrumptious béarnaise sauce.
But, they say fish is healthy for you, So, I’m half good.
Corrections:
The Tids Editor had a mental hangover from a big
Sunday celebration and missed the misspelling of Piersall as “Pierson”, Our
half a sleeo editor also missed a repetition of the Cialis Tub joke, perhaps thinking
we needed one joke for each tub.
This
is that time in an economic cycle when we really learn how
well the schools are doing, or is it how well the kids understand reality. Yes the
economy is soaring and the job openings are reaching new highs, perhaps
all-time highs. But, the big problem as always is finding qualified employees.
Are post HS curriculums matching the needs of industry and business? Do kids in
HS understand why they are learning stuff? Possible solution. A large
proportion of young recent grads need only a one year of “Real Life” school
that matches teaching to the high activity job openings or potential openings. The
“Real Life” schools could also offer ongoing education for those who advance
onward from the first hire. This is an opportunity for employers, teachers and
certainly, young people who normally would be lost in a clueless sea.
There
are a couple of pervasive misconceptions that are rarely explained
by the press. The first is about not excluding real immigrants from illegal immigrants
when supporting the accusations of Democrat, Progressive pals. Number two is on
climate change. They and Dem operatives typically ask Repubs, including Trump, if
they believe in Climate Change, when they should be asking, “do you believe in
man’s contribution to climate alterations.” You see, most people believe in climate
change because it has been happening since the beginning of time. What many are
skeptical of is the amount of change that has been contributed by humanity.
BTW,
did you see the video last night of Bill Clinton
at one of his State of he Union speeches describing the illegal immigrant
problem in exactly the same terms as the current president? Nothing changes
except, I guess over time, climate.
Reality
Winner, the woman who leaked Highly classified
material is an avowed Bernie Sanders advocate. Too many on the left seem to
believe their cause is bigger than sensible rules for a civilized society.
Intellectual arrogance will kill America.
Do
you think the will have Super Bowl Style Entertainment during
the break in Comey testimony? This is getting big. Will it be revealing and
significant, or Al Capone’s safe all over again?
Everybody
who likes new tech goodies was looking forward to Apple’s
version of Amazon’s Echo and Google’s Home. What they got was higher priced
product ($350 vs. $175 vs. $130) that has some problems, like according to one
tech expert, less than desirable conversational ability than Echo, and merely
adequate but not great the speaker audio quality. And as noted above, you can buy
two Echos for the cost of one HomePod. So, Echo owners, don’t get anxious you’re
ok.
The
Answer:
Nationwide is the home of the Columbus Blue Jackets,
“The Forum” – was the Canadians den of terror now a corporate name; MTS Center –
Winnipeg Jets (Some would change that to “The Hangar”); Saddledome – Calgary
Flames; “The Rock” – The New Jersey Devils; “The Gaahden” – Boston Bruins; Joe
Louis – Detroit Red Wings; The Ice Palace – Tampa Bay Lightning; “The Igloo” –
Pittsburgh Penguins; Nashville’s arena is The Bridgestone, a name many would
like to change to “Smashville”
Tomorrow’s
another day. Maybe it won’t be winter any more.
Sorry
for the long poem. Just felt like writing it, and it
wouldn’t stop. I need a pop.
