Yesterday was yesterday; Tomorrow will be better.

Today's Tids Issue 3889
For Nice Fitting Jeans:

Karma is a cool thing. I wonder how it works.

It could have been a massacre, and it was tragic to see that bloody mayhem happening on a ballfield in a quiet early morning area in a nice town. Scary. But, news coverage for 15 plus straight hours is a little over the top. Hey, the ensuing talk about “maybe it’s time to back off the acidic rhetoric” is certainly apropos. But maybe the bigger need is to cut down on the volume of information.

It’s one thing to see if the Politicians will tone down their rhetoric. But, the real proof of a new softer, more considerate USA will come when the comedians turn down the provocative venom.

The Question:
I always wonder how all of these jean manufacturers survive. After all, I either buy Levi’s or Lee’s. And don’t even consider LL Bean, where I buy most of my clothes. So, I looked up the top ten best seller’s names. Who are they?

The Headlines:

The guy who created the US Open course Erin Hills in Erin Wisconsin is in jail, and I expect that most players think that is a good place for anybody associated with this monster. The giant acreage has 4 par fives over 600 yards and many of the par fours over five hundred. And a nearly impossible to hit 135 yard par “Three” that may turn abut to be a fifth par five! The craziest thing is that this super lengthy course favors the long driver, but the winner may be the short, accurate driver, The fescue is that crazy! So here are the odds for the possible champion. Dustin is favored at 7-1, and at 12-1 are Rory, Jordan and Jason. The rest of the front runners are at 15-1 Ricky Fowler and Jon Rahm, at 25-1 Adam Scott, Hydeki Matsuyama and Sergio. But, could the winner be the most consistent driver and Wisconsin native – Steve Stricker?

I have always mistrusted Hollywood because critics, but particularly galling to me was their making fun of a movie I thought was pretty damn good, among my all-time favorites – “Love Actually”! But, a NY Times feature having 3 (Actually 6, but I’m only writing about 3) directors pick their favorites has given me renewed hope in humanity. Director Paul Feig picks among his favorites Love Actually, saying it is incredibly difficult to make so well any film that pulls together so neatly multiple storylines. Fieg who calls himself very noncynical, loves uplifting endings and feel–good romance.  A few of his other favorites are Moulin Rouge, Sing Street This is the End, Amelie, Moon, Casino Royal and Mustang. –Sophie Coppola picks for her faves Force Majeure, The Savages, Head On, Daddy’s Home, Together, Ida, Fish Tank and The Incredibles. – The third guy Antoine Fuqua picks The Fences, Slumdog Millionaire, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Zero Dark Thirty, Avatar, Munich, The Pianist, Eastern Promises and Gladiator.

There is no truth to the rumor that alleged treasonous Reality Winner is naming her first born Unnamed Sources.

Dennis Rodman presented Kim Jong un a copy of Trump’s “Art of the Deal”.  Hmmm. Now there is a threesome on the world stage.

The angry rhetoric will never stop because Trump is changing the power structures of yore.

A couple of days ago I wrote a bit about Trumps new apprenticeship/intern program. I love the concept. In fact about 15 years ago I wrote a lengthy magazine article on a similar conscript for US adaptation based on successful Swiss programs. The work advantage programs are also prevalent in Germany and other successful manufacturing economies. One of the notable aspects of my story was that the RI teachers and their Union was behind the idea, and in fact joined the leader of US based Swiss manufacturers on a trip to explore opportunities in Europe. While the reports coming back were quite enthusiastic, and a company or two or three began experimenting, it didn’t seem to go anywhere. Maybe it was the typos in my story, or a negative vote in the RI legislature to protect somebody’s brother in law.

Jackie Bradley Junior is making me happy again. You hate to see a favorite on any stage in this life f ours mired in a slump.

Does the actions of shooter James T. Hodgkinson indicate that there is another Bolshevik revolution brewing neath the surface?

The big discussion today will switch quickly to the “unnamed sources” headline of the moment about Mueller investigating Trump. The last time The WAPO and NYT blasted out a similar headline based on a leak, it eventually was said to be totally false by Comey in his testimony. I guess the reporters are still hating despite their strident calls for a more civilized discussion.

The Answer:
It’s nice to see that the venerable old brand Levi’s is still tops. Wrangler is next, and for some reason going back into my youth I have had a psychological aversion to them. Number 3 is Diesel, followed by True Religion, Lee, Calvin Klein, Pepe Jeans London, Armani, Killer and Nostrum. Apparently Nostrum is anew brand that could grow in popularity because of unmatched fit, comfort and quality.

There is something significantly amazing about the connection between lifelong friends.
