For Peace:
War
is a terrible thing. We salute our military for protecting our
freedoms, for their courage and resiliency, but wouldn’t it be wonderful if
they weren’t needed at all.
D-Day was
the beginning of the battle that saved Europe, and it was an enormous
accomplishment. To this day, the French still look upon American veterans as
genuine heroes of their country. School children there today are taught of the
American sacrifices for their village’s freedom from Nazi atrocities. They look
up in awe when the old US vets pass by, not seeing them as old men on canes,
but as vital liberators.
Yet in one
day, ten’s of thousands of US, British and Canadian teenagers died on a beach,
most not knowing if they were brave or scared. They kept moving forward as
friends dropped, bloodied next to them. There was no place to hide, only
positions to take.
Soldiers
are forced to serve tyrants, while others volunteer to protect freedom loving people
from tyrants. Think of that, a handful of ugly humans changing worlds. Think of
young people who never had the chance to grow into their talents, because of
one ugly man, in this case a house painter who fatally infected a nation.
An old
veteran, a hero of the assault on the French shore that June 6th,
says, “When a person walks up and says to me, thank for you service. I look
back at the fallen that day and say, you mean for the young men who died before
they saw their future.” Who says peace is a radical idea.
Hillary
is beginning to exhibit her human side as she
travels around the country giving self-serving speech after self-serving speech
that proves to Americans that they made the right choice not voting her
President. What a nice woman.
The
verdict is still out as to the extent the action
that could be taken against Trump. It does appear that “obstruction of justice”
is in the cards, and is certainly a charge you can expect the Dems to pursue
vigorously. Of course, Comey’s revelation that Loretta Lynch asked him to have
his language track with the language of Hillary’s campaign, a significant legal
no-no, is quite disturbing. Nobody gets off in this one, including the media
which may have lost most. Comey repeatedly
said that much of what the media reported about Russia was not true. It seems
to me that everybody who wants an investigation should be nervous about what
they asked for.
Ohio
State was offering super money for a new basketball
coach. Creighton’s Greg McDermott turned it down saying he was very happy in Omaha.
But Butler’s Chris Holtmann backed up his armored car and took the big dough.
Hey, OSU can buy anything it wants. But, it went through a list of six big
names until Holtmann was the last man standing.
I
doubt if Cinderella will be playing for the new OSU as she
tends to run away from the ball.
The

For
me,
one of the most important services I get from a car dealer is going to the DMV
to register the car.
Republicans
say
vindication. Democrats say castigation.
So,
what’s new.
Surprisingly,
some serious environmentalists are liking Trumps new
idea of putting solar panels on ”The Wall”. But, many of them also are betwixt
over the anti-immigration aspects of the project. Actually, it may not be a bad idea as it
would produce 2 megawatts of electricity per mile and pay for the cost of the
wall ($7.5 Million/Mile). In reality, Trump’s idea seems remarkably similar to that
of one of the wall contractor proposals, Tom Gleason of Gleason Partners, who
sent in detailed plans for a 2300 mile solar “production” plant. Theoretically,
tis is the type of idea that should bridge the gap between warring ideologies.
Should bridge the gap, if opposing ideologues could ever get from beneath the shouts
of professional activists to think rationally.
Word
of the Day (Thanks to thoughtful reader): Sargasm: The sense
of pleasure derived from the use of sarcasm.
A
lot of people were disappointed with the Comey
hearings yesterday. They had been told that the intermission entertainment was
to have been Nancy LalaPelozi in her new bikini doing backflips across the
witness table.
I
just wrote a song about tortillas. Actually, it’s a rap.

Between the Lines Movie Reviews:
--Critics hate this new Mummy, where the Mummy could
actually be a mommy since like many movies these days, the mommy’s are taking
the daddy’s roles. The movie itself is serious, and that’s what riles the
critics. It doesn’t deserve to e serious. It is exciting with terror and end
extreme wickedness not seen by modern day humans. You have seen it all before.
--You may be familiar with this things jumping out
of the dark scary post-apocalyptic film,
“It Comes At Night”. A disease has decimated the human race. In this film we
see one family in their purified home leaving as comfortably as possible in a
word so unsettled, life is good until one day another family seeking refuge
knocks on the door, Then fears of paranoia and mistrust arise in union with creepy
things behind corners.
--Megan Leavey is a true story about a brave woman,
a Marine Corporal, who with her dog saved many American soldiers lives. In a disciplinary
action early in her career she is assigned to cleaning up the K-9 Unit. There
she bonds with an aggressive dog names Rex (!). She trains Rex and the twosome
completes over 100 missions until an IED injures them.
--I like the idea of My Cousin Rachel, a period movie
of a young English man plotting revenge against his cousin who he believes had
murdered his guardian. His plan is taking shape until he sees something else in
the beautiful woman, and hois heart is grasped by her charms.
--Audience love Beatriz at Dinner, about an
immigrant from a poor Mexican region who’s kindness boosts her career as a
Health practitioner in LA. A cut-throat billionaire meets her at a dinner party
and these opposites enter a new world which will never be the same for either.
The
Answer:
Number one for Netflix is House of Cards. Next is
Orange is the New Black. These two blockbusters are followed by Daredevil,
Jessica Jones, Unbreakable Kenny Schmidt, Narcos, Arrested Development, Peaky
Builders, Master of None and Bloodline. The Killing, Marco Polo, Bojack
Horseman, Luke Cage and Wet Hot American Summer round out the top15. One of my
favorites, The Crown, only made #25. I thought it was easily top 5. Bonus: the all-time best written shows
are The Sopranos, Seinfeld, The Twilight Zone, All in the Family, M*A*S*H, The
Mary Tyler Moore Show, MadMen, Cheers, The Wire and West Wing.
FBM:
Federal Bureau of Matters.
I
leave you in peace. I don’t understand why we need
controversy, anger, hate. Are the ills of civilization more about jealousy and
envy than anything else? I’m just pondering, but I’m not going to get overly
upset. I’m just looking for a little peace, and over thinking never helps.
Have
a peaceful weekend…E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
