Warm words for a snowy day (Warm?):
What!!!
Trump has booted Rex Tillerson, the sane face of America! I give up.
When
the snow is blowing sideways
With trees falling on fences in yards.
Our minds shift, stressed these days,
By reality, not from political canards.
I
liked the political cartoon by conservative leaning cartoonist
Ramirez. It showed President Trump in a Charlie Brown outfit eyeing Kim holding
the football.
So,
is ex-CIA director Mike Pompeo in place as the official face
of the US to compete with ex-KGB operative Putin?
One
intrepid reader keeps on sending must-know information for
the edification of all Tids readers. Now, I know you all know that Murphy’s Law
is the one that says, “If something can go wrong, it will go wrong.” But now our
fellow reader asks if we know Cole’s Law. It is, incase you are interested,
quite simple: “Thinly sliced cabbage.”
The
Question:
Name five of William H. Macy’s best movies.
The
Headlines:
--Tillerson Out; Mike Pompeo In As Secretary Of State.
--Markets Open Lower, But Quickly Turn North.
--Blizzard Raging Outside
--Trump Blocks Hostile Takeover Of Qualcom By Broadcom;
Largest Tech Takeover Ever Would Have Given Foreign Owner Control Over Chip
Supplier To Vital US Smart Tech Industries.
--Small Businesses Seeing Benefits Form Tax Reform.
--Betting Odds For Tiger Winning Master’s Moving Lower
Fast.
This
Pennsylvania election is supposed to be one of those bell
weather affairs. Both sides will either make political hay out of a win or
create excuses yet unheard of if losses occur. I’m thinking that the President
isn’t too confident in his man as rumors are saying he is creating a little
distance from the candidate.
Considering
the topsy-turvy regular season that revealed
vulnerabilities of power teams, could this be the year when a #16 beats a#1?
Speaking
of blizzards that blind, this Stormy Daniels thing seems to be
turning into a seriously threatening Nor’easter. What the Prez may need sooner
than later is a new civilian defense department. I think Hillary would probably
be perfect to head up the new Bimbo Agency – Barring Information Made-up By Opportunists.
Who had more experience? Who would be better?
Duh
Headline of the Day:
“Teachers and School Officials Disagree.” Hey, what
about those kids taking a day off and missing school to march in protest. Are
they in training to be union activists.
Hillary
is over there in India telling people there what she didn’t
do. One of her latest reasons for not winning, in addition to saying Trump only
won the loser Midwest states, is that, she says, “We don’t do well with white married
women…(who) have pressure to vote the way that your husband or boss or son
believes you should vote.” I don’t think she understands white, married women
very well. What an embarrassment she is on the world stage.
The
UConn women Basketball players have a mind of their
own and are again number seed for the Women’s March madness. I was surprised
that Baylor only got a #2 seed. UConn will have some tough teams to face as
they get into the elite Eight, namely Georgia and Duke. Mississippi State, who
knocked them out last year, also looms in the future. I’m hoping that UConn
hasn’t been lulled by their relatively easy league schedule. Although, they did
beat some significantly, highly seeded teams like Notre Dame, South Carolina,
Louisville, Stanford and UCLA.
How
scary is the scenario of personal pricing schemes now
being tested by “Big Brother” like companies? Now mainly in the airlines and
hospitality areas, the big companies explore personal data to determine what an
individual can pay and charge accordingly. It sounds like an illegal invasion
of privacy to me.
All
of a sudden out of nowhere, ukuleles are a small rage. They
were big when I was a kid, too. In fact I had one and strummed a lot. It was the
Arthur Godfrey effect, but there are no Godfrey’s today. My dog has fleas.
Why
do I think that Tillerson Is one of the happiest guys
on earth today?
A
lot of guys I know around here love watching the UConn women’s
games. The passing, pure shooting and team work is much more interesting than
some of the spectacular one on one moves of the men’s games.
Oddly,
while we blocked china’s huge chip maker Broadcom from taking over Qualcom,
China represents over 60% of Qualcom’s Business…and that has been growing the
last five years. At least, up til now.
By
the way, while the Nation gears up to skip work
for Basketball games, the very exciting “Frozen Four” series begins (NCAA
Hockey’s version of The Final Four). The Top Ten NCAA Hockey Teams are St.
Cloud State, Cornell, Denver, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Minnesota State,
Northeastern, Minnesota Duluth, Providence and Clarkson.
I
liken activist protest marches to call-in, tweet-in unscientific
polling -- not representative of the people, but over-reported as fact.
The
Answer:
Th movie that brought William Macy into my view was
Fargo, and it is rated as his top film. After that we have Boogie Nights, Pleasantville,
Mystery Men, Airforce One, The Cooler, Jurassic Park III, Mr. Hollands Opus,
Sorry,
I have to run and get out the Tids before the power goes.
Some blips already. O, the pressure!
Tillerson
is out? Aaaaaaargggggjh!!!
