For the Givers:
Despite
all of the outspoken insults, pubic rampages
prevalent in society today, we still live in a world of unsung heroes. There
are selfless people everywhere at all socio-economic levels volunteering to
care. To meet needs of the less fortunate and/or burdened. To add their
specific knowledge to society. Volunteerism is the core of many remarkable
non-commercial institutions. Yes, we still do have plenty of good people on
both sides of the ideological arguments who understand love of others and see their
wants. Who relish the preservation of talent and the advances celebrated in the
past. Giving of ourselves is still a humankind quality that has yet to be subjugated
to progress. And millions do it quite well, asking for nothing, here in the USA.
So,
did you hear about the lawyer who had to apologize
to the judge for only filing assault charges? “Sorry Judge, no battery’s
included.”
Tom
Brady may be considered a volunteer by the NFL Player’s
Unions. He, the MVP last year and perhaps the true G.O.A.T, was only the 18th
highest paid QB in 2017.
Nothing
is truly “Grassroots” any more.
The
Question:
Give me five of your favorite songs from My Fair
Lady, which just happened to have opened on Broadway 62 years ago from today. Bonus: Name five of the characters in
the play. Extra Points: Who were the
original actors for each.

It
looks like Elizabeth Holmes, a past wunderkind of silicon valley and heralded young girl revered
as a brilliant mind to emulate, is going down hard charged with “massive” fraud.
She basically sold her wares based on nothing but her dreams and a solid,
convincing vocabulary. She may have found her path to success in the chronicling
of the Dot.Com implosion. I can tell you that I was in the Dot.Com exuberance business
of the late 1990’s and know that many companies who’s’ stock soared were basically
selling business plans to the uninitiated who were ravenous to get aboard the
gravy train. It all worked because there was tons of money and fewer people who
really understood the innate, limitations of technology driven concepts at that
moment in time.
In
case you missed it, the World’s Happiest Country
is Finland! The rest of the Top Ten are Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, Netherlands,
Canada, New Zealand, Sweden and Australia. The least happy is Burundi. The rest
of that bottom ten are Central African Republic, South Sudan, Tanzania, Yemen,
Rwanda, Syria, Liberia, Haiti and Malawi. Notice how people, are happier in Northern
climes, where it snows. That’s why I don’t move to Florida.
They
are calling San Fran USA “ICE-land”, and they aren’t
happy about it.
Based
on what have seen from NFL free agency, it looks like the grand
NE Patriots scheme of living on the cheap maybe over.
I
see where Larry Kudlow has been named to Replace Gary Cohn
as Chief Economic Advisor. I like Larry, and I listen to him on the radio. I’m
confused though. Kudlow is a devoted “Free Trader”, and tariffs certainly don’t
fit into that model. I thought Trump wanted a yes man. Kudlow, who worked in a comparable
position for Reagan, says that Trump is quite similar to his old boss, especially
as an antiestablishmentarian. He noted though that Reagan used a generally more
acceptable lexicon to express his dissatisfactions.
Antiestablishment-arian:
A white person who doesn’t like the people in charge.
I
wonder what Steven Hawking thought of Elon Musk.
#2
“Duh” headline of the week (See above): “Putin Expected
to Win Presidential Election On Monday.”
Maybe
Hillary thought she was in a backward country where they didn’t
have technology that could actually record her comments. That was her real
problem campaigning, she never really knew where she was and who was there
before her.
Every
day it seems that Walmart does something that says
to the public, “Watch out Amazon, we’re here too.”
While
Walmart continues to get more competitive with Amazon,
China’s Alibaba’s stock keeps on soaring.
World
leaders are telling Putin, “You’ve got some nerve…gas.
The
Answer:
Personally, I like “I’ve own accustomed to her face”.
But “I could have danced all night” and “The Rain in Spain” are always exciting.
“On the street where you live” was popular as was “Wouldn’t it be loverly”. The
energetic “Get me to the church on time” and “Just you Wait (Henry Higgins)
always make me smile. Others are “With a Little bit of Luck’, “Show Me”, and “I’m
an ordinary man.” Bonus: The five
most memorable characters were Eliza Doolittle – Julie Andrews, Henry Higgins –
Rex Harrison, Alfred Doolittle – Stanley Holloway, Colonel Hugh Pickering –
Robert Coote, Freddy Eynsford Hill – John Michael King. I still enjoy going to
this show, even though I know every scene and the ending. There is just something
about, “I’ve grown accustomed to her face.”
