Reclamation:
There
are no politicians screaming that might interrupt
beautiful sensations of love and romance. Go out and dream. Feel the beauty of
the sanctity of unencumbered revelry. Dance and sing and float languorously
upon the soft breezes of your imagination. Look into eyes. Feel the rapture of
a smile. The noise is gone. The silence is consoling.
Several
observers have noted that in the aftermath of this election,
of the Repubs losing the House, there were no marauders in black masks throwing
rocks through business windows, no women in pink hats marching, no cars
overturned and burning. In fact, nothing was going on in the streets at all… except
the resolute acceptance of the American system at work.

In
1950, it was a really big deal when the first US jet plane
shot down a North Korean MIG 15. That was the day when I stopped drawing P-38’s
in my text book margins and entered the jet age of schoolboy art.
The
Question:
Who was the first and only President to win
non-consecutive terms?

A
Michael Ramirez cartoon has a Democrat saying to a Repub:
“We have Colbert, Oprah and Kimmel, who do you have? “The Repub answers:
“Washington, Madison and Jefferson.”
I’m
waiting for some new Dem house member to condemn the nickname
of their DC MLB team Washington Nationals as sounding too white supremist.
If
you are looking for some meaningful college football
uniforms running around your Saturday TV screens, check out the best bets –
Ohio State-Michigan State, Georgia-Auburn, ‘Bama-Miss State and, yes one in New
England – Clemson Visiting the Boston College Eagles. BC has won a few and made
the rankings at #17, but they haven’t played a juggernaut like Clemson. Ohio State
has looked iffy to me in several games and Michigan State, while a little off this
year could be a serious foe. Auburn always plays Georgia tough and Bama is Bama
even when playing a pretty good team like Miss State…or the highly touted LSU
last week.
Despite
a majority of the Democrat Political leaders warning against
an “investigate only” House, it appears from first statements that the new
leaders of the House will be all about investigating.
When
you consider that South American and Africa were one
land mass multiple millions of years ago, then it isn’t surprising that geo-changes
are occurring in our current snapshot of the Earth’s evolution.
Last
week, the NFL didn’t have that many real upsets, it’s
just that I got too cute and suffered an 8-5 week. That brings the year to
80-51-2, just over 60%. It should be getting easier considering we now have
some experience to go by. But the NFL is always full of surprises, and now
injuries are a bigger factor. Tonight’s game is a good one with the improving
Pitt versus the improving Carolina. Roethlisberger has a sore finger and Cam Newton
is playing better than ever. Pitt is at home. I don’t know. I’ll take the upset
– Carolina.
Other
tough picks are not all good games – like the
Buffalo-Jets, and the woeful Giants and Niners. The Jets just lost their young one
game sensation QB - Darnold. Buff has not had good QB for weeks. The Jets
should win at home. The Giants look anemic, so I’m picking San Fran at home. The
other posers are Detroit-Chicago, Washington-TB, NO-Cincinnati and Atlanta-Cleveland.
Chicago is looking better each week but Detroit is tough in conference games.
I’ll pick da Bears. Washington is an enigma to me. But, then, so is TB. I’ll go
one more time with the Skins. Atlanta’s Ryan is one accurate passer. Cleveland
has played well on Defense at home. But Cleveland has a new coach, and Atlanta
has been improving so I’m Picking the Falcons. New Orleans has climbed to #1 on
the NFL power rankings. Brees is hot and they have added a good receiver in
Bryant, if he shows up. Yet, Dalton has been resourceful and Cinncy is fighting
for a conference leadership. Cincy to knock off #1.
The
rest of the picks are KC over Arizona, Indy over Jax, New
England over Tennessee in what could be a good game. The Chargers should whup
the Raiders and Green Bay will bounce back against Miami. The Rams- Seahawks
game could have fallen into the “poser” category but the Rams are just better. Finally,
we have an increasingly hapless Dallas team facing the Eagles, and I go Eagles.
When will Jerry Jones fire nice guy Garrison? That is the big questions here.
Florida
voters approved a new law that would allow 1.5 Million felons
to vote in upcoming elections, thus assuring a democrat Florida for years to
come. Does this mean that if after the house investigation DT gets home
confinement at Mira Lago, he gets to vote?
The
drug dealer must have laced my shoes with something
because I’ve been tripping all day.
The
Dem operatives have been going around to the network
programs making excuses for the Repub gains, saying that for one thing that the
Dems got more popular votes nationally, and yet the Repubs picked up Senate
seats. Duh. That’s the way America works. Probably the lamest misuse of facts
was by Joy Bahar who said the Senate was won by Republicans due to
Gerrymandering! Hey Joy, Senators are elected statewide. Get it? But, that’s
what happens when celebrities don’t understand what they are reading in talking
points memos.
Beto
O’Rourke made it look close because thousands of College Kids
in Texas actually woke up early enough to go out and vote. The next time the Hollywood
favorite candidate runs, these kids will have matured and learn how they were
duped by unrealistic promises.
The
Answer:
I couldn’t pick the Browns to win an NFL game this
week, so I picked Grover Cleveland as the answer to this question. He beat
Benjamin Harrison one term after he was knocked off by BH.
Despite
all of the post-election pronouncements of getting along, the
big money behind some of the new congress people and old warhorses want Trump
out and Kavanaugh discredited. And they don’t want to wait for the American
system to work. Or maybe they are just afraid it will work against them. Sorry
to interrupt your dreams of romance. But, that’s just the way it is. Politics
today isn’t about love and understanding. But frankly, I’ll be dreaming of love.
That kind of high blood pressure is good for you.
Love
is telling a person to go to hell and then worrying about them
getting their safely.
