Remembering:
Veterans
Day,
a day for memories, of accomplishment, but all too often of anguish. I like many
would always stop and salute the men and women who fought and gave. Could I ever
be as great as those soldiers of heroic proportion. Could I rise up in the face
of death for the good of those not there. I always wondered that. I never knew
too many people from my family who actually were in wars, but that never
diminished my respect for those would be strangers. Maybe when you grow up
surrounded by WWII, you just innately appreciate the heroes.
Over
the years, there have been a lot of impossible to believe
visuals of California wildfires on TV, but none as God awful as those shown for
Paradise California. It looks like the apocalypse. My heart aches at the
hopelessness of the citizens there trapped in a raging inferno.
Will
the immigration controversy replace the abortion mess as the
issue that divides America for political purposes? If it does, it could be a good
thing because there is a chance for realistic, productive compromise there. The
first step towards compromise is to separate legal immigration from unlawful entry. And, an honest media could lead that charge
quite easily. So, immigration agreement is quite doable if political activists
really wanted to make it happen. On the other hand, compromising on Abortion is
nearly impossible – it’s death to babies versus life for babies, and nobody
ever seems to give an inch. Frankly, I don’t know why it should be so impossible.
Did
you hear about the dyslectic man who walked into a
bra?
Why
don’t all punters kick to the sidelines?
The
Question:
As we know, all marsupials are in Australia, Right?
No, there is one in North American. Name it. Bonus: I think Stanley Tucci is very good actor. Name the top ten
of his 77 movies.

How
is it that we put a man on the moon before we figured out
it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?
I’m
wondering if I still should say to people I meet, “How are
You”. I’m thinking heir response might be, “Wat do you mean by that? Did you
see something about me on Facebook?” America has become paranoid.
President
Macron looked like he was dressed for a photo shoot to
publicize his lead role in Les Miz.
This
just in: Broward County officials have just found Al Gore’s
missing votes and he will be offered opportunity to step in immediately to
replace Trump for next 6 years. Gore declines, saying he makes more money
selling Climate Change.
I
have never actually met a protestor. Where do they all
come from? Do they just grow out of cracks in the pavement in front of malls
and institutions?
As
most of you know, from time to time the Tids Better
Living Editor grabs a random Obit page from the major Statewide newspaper to
determine the average death ages.
Yesterday had a pretty big Obit page with a wide variety of ages, 21 in
fact. The median age was about 83.5. The average age was 83.67. The youngest
was 60. The oldest was 104. So, now you know.
Have
you ever noticed that people who work in the private[RH1]
sector often work on holidays, while people who are paid by taxpayers always
take days off?
#I’m
Murdering People, Department:
How much does social media have to do with the
increase in mass killings? You may have read that the most recent killer, paused
in his shooting to post on a social network. How many others may have taken to
massacring innocents knowing they would receive instant fame on a mindless
network going viral to millions. How many were spurred on in their deranged minds
to take the lives of others by the instant fame of other’s grizzly deeds? Or by
notoriety achieved after endless hours of prolific Cable news? We interrupt the
beatification of Mother Teresa to bring you live coverage of a mass killing.
If
a deaf person goes to court, is it still called a
hearing?
I
think this morning I’m ridding my body and soul of agony in
America. Sorry to dump it on you all.
Sports
Oddity: Yesterday popular golfers Matt Kuchar and Lee
Westwood won tournaments – Kuchar on the PGA Tour and Westwood On the European
Tour. The last time each of these excellent golfers won was in April 2014.
House
of Cards this season is sluggish. Something will happen. It
has to. It’s the final season.
Today,
we all applaud the heroism of the military men and women. But, each November 11
we should renew and intensify all efforts to build services to care for those
who have come back with the pains for war embedded in their minds. We rebuild
bodies, but too many others are walking with vacant or seriously debilitated
minds. I know we try, but it just seems at times that we could do a better job.
Jim
Acosta does a disservice to all of the serious journalists
in the room at the White House Press Conferences.
I
can’t get myself to type the word “Pressers”. It just
grates me for some reason.
It
will be interesting to see if the media gives more
attention to Celebs losing homes to fires, at the expense of properly covering
all those in Northern California who lost everything in what was called the worst
fire in a century. (Note: After viewing the TV this weekend, I see the networks
and cable news paying proper tribute to the victims in Paradise and surrounding
areas.)
BTW,
The President’s attempt to place blame on forest mismanagement was uncalled for
as the news of this incredible human tragedy emerged.
One
of the myths throughout civilization that still
remains today is that people who are smart are right.
The
Answer:
The opossum is the only marsupial in NA. It is a
strange nocturnal animal that eats just about anything, including about 5,000
Ticks/Summer! “Playing Possum” it’s defense mechanism, where the animal basically
faints and becomes inert. Bonus: The
Devil Wears Prada was considered the #1 Tucci Movie. The rest are The Hunger
Games Part 1, Easy A, The Lovely Bones, Captain America: The First Avenger, The
Terminal, Road to Perdition, Julia and Julia, The Pelican Brief and Big Night.
Because
of Ancestrydotcom I have uncovered many dedicated family
soldiers, many of whom were in WWI. The war that begot November11. I’m finding
relatives who showed immense bravery, at least that what their medals and
commendations say to me. I find steadfast soldiers in uncles and cousins who
after WWI, and at an advanced age stepped up proudly to serve in WWII. So,
maybe that’s why I was always taught to honor the men and women in uniform. Soldiers,
sailors in my family I never knew were remembered by those who taught me to honor
all who fought for us.
