Let yourself go:
If
your heart is into playing the piano, piccolo or virtuoso
violin, love it, dive in and play it until the sun starts dancing in the sky. If
you can play a simple melody or a concerto grand, play it and let the world
feel it with you.
I
have to tell you that for 68 years I have been convinced
that Brooklyn Dodger pitching great Don Newcombe would have sucked it up, and
that there was no need to bring in Ralph Branca. Old Newk was as tough as they
came, and he would have mowed down Bobby Thompson – guar-an-teeeed. Except for
a couple of bottles of booze, he would have been and still should be elected to
the Hall of fame. Sorry to see you go. You were one of my favorites of all
time.
I
slapped myself around yesterday afternoon upon discovering
several sloppy typos. Self-discipline is tough, and painful too.
How
come nobody names their daughters Sally any more. It was
always a happy name to me
The
genetic marker for people who are naturally bad at
spelling can be found in those with blood type-O.
One
of the potential huge arguments next year will be the
viability of the new Trump admin rule to eliminate opaque rebates between drug makers
and benefit managers, like CVS and others. Drug makers have praised the rule they
fought for, but the benefit managers are saying that will raise drug costs for
70% of those on Medicare. In other words, expect the white tipped brigade to be
marching on DC in advance of the elections. Government plans sometimes sound
pretty good, until we learn what’s really in them. It will all boil down to who
has the bigger pile of money – Pharmaceutical companies or Pharmacy benefit
managers. That is the question.
The
Question:
Name five songs with Sal or Sally in the title. Bonus: The Chicago Seven were originally
the Chicago Eight. Who was the eighth who was tried separately?

Hall
of Fame players should be picked on how they dominated
in the era in which they played and not how their numbers compare to numbers
from different eras.
I
looked in the mirror and thought I was going Goth, until I
realized the at my pink hair was just my scalp skin showing though.
My
seagull pal is back staring at me through my window.
He must like my music. No, make that my grill cover. Maybe it looks like a big
salad to him. My hope is that if he considers my deck as a food source, he won’t
consider it also a bathroom.
I
don’t get involved in todays sectionalized headlines anymore.
I just wait until the hysteria settles down and we learn what really happened.
85%
of American journalists are registered democrats, just in case
you are interested in facts instead of hyperbole.
Most
years, the best Picture Oscar nominees don’t do that
well at the box office. But this year may be different. Black Panther hit the jackpot
with $1.3 Billion worldwide. Next is Bohemian Rhapsody at $433 Million. A Star
is Born was respectable at $204. The rest are Green Book and Favorite tied at $42.5M
followed by Veep at $37.4M and last was BlacKkKlansmen at $25.6M. The eighth
film is Roma which was seen on Netflix. It had a good run, but it is hard to judge
it by $$$.
Is
there any headline in Winter that is more non-essential
than, “Snowstorm Coming!”.
The
Answer:
My Gal Sal comes to mind first. “She was a wild sort
of devil, but a devil on the level.” My Gal Sal (Or, “They call her frivolous Sal”)
was the first song ever performed in a motion picture film. Next on the Sally/Sal
song list would be Mustang Sally. Then there is Lay Down Sally, Ride Sally Ride
and Long Tall Sally. Pete Seeger had one called Sally Ann. Bonus: Bobby Seale was originally of the Chicago 8 but was
separated from that group for trial. The rest were tried as a group – Abbie Hoffman,
Jerry Rubin, David Dellinger, Tom Hayden (Mr. Jane Fonda), Rennie Davis, John Froines
and Lee Weiner. Hoffman continued as an antiwar activist and died of intentional
Barbiturate OD. Rubin continued his activism until he decided to turn the
corner and become a successful businessman. Dellinger was a Marxist but
cultivated friendships with many including Eleanor Roosevelt, Ho Chi Min and
MLK. He never changed. Davis’ Dad was Chief of Staff to Harry Truman. Davis was
an avowed antiwar protester and spiritualist until the end. Froines had a Chemical
degree from Yale. After the triel he held several significant posts on evaluating
toxic substances, often entering into suspect alliances. Lastly, Lee Weiner was
an odd duck who was pretty remote. He was fired from his professor position at Rutgers
after he announced publicly (Picked up in People Mag) his intention of starting
a Communist party. The Chicago trial seemed to be the highlight of most the Chicago
7’s careers. Men who were basically professional protestors.
People
should follow their passion, and I'm hoping for many
that it is long sequestered musical talent that when released can soothe irrational
hatred. Or a Tid that makes you smile.
Advice
is what we ask for when we already know the answer but
wish we didn’t.
