Today's Tids Issue 4,405
Peachy:
Grab it and run.
Walk through a sunlit field and take an apple or a pear or cherry, and munch along
the grassy fields. And today, grab a headline without knowing anything about the
depth of the story, the technology, the financials, the effects on all. Too
many journalists are delivery the low-hanging fruit.
Every time I listen
to a Tchaikovsky symphony, I wonder why Critics like slamming him for being too
loud. Do they miss the beauty of his eloquent passages, some of the most soothing
and comforting ever written?
There are often stickers
on front windshields of cars, for special parking situations, inspection,
et.al. Now some people complain that the sticker blocks their view, while
others never see it. It’s the difference in focus among people, some fixated on
the sticker that has been predetermined to be annoying, and the others on the big
picture through the wide windshield, dismissing the sticker entirely. Today cogs
are blurring our broader views.
Politicians have always
promised us the moon, but none more than JFK who pledged a lunar landing.
At a high school graduation speech
yesterday, a student reminded everyone, that in the phrase “Student-Athlete”,
Student always comes first.
The Question:
Who was the “Star” in The Texaco Star Theater? Bonus:
Name the founders of each of the 13 original colonies.

A lot of restaurant ads for lobster
rolls will show a picture of this delicacy featuring a
big red claw on top. I prefer mine minus a featured big red claw, with all meat
chopped evenly. But, that’s just me.
When one door closes
and another door opens…you are probably in prison.
New 2020 polling reports
show Biden’s wide gap over the rest narrowing significantly. I don’t think that
should be much of a mystery at all. He got the big Intro Bounce, and then the people
woke to find that eh was still the same old Joe Biden. His big gap now narrowed
has Bernie, Elizabeth and Pete bunched up behind him. And, we still haven’t had
a debate.
Reincarnation
is a life changing experience.
Ironically,
the mega book store that helped shudder many delightful small shops, Barnes and
Noble, is reinventing itself after being brought private by a new Hedge fund
owner. They will become chain of small lovable bookstores, all over again.
The latest local story where
emotion is driving reactions against reality is in the RI hospital scene. A big
local hospital group used some deceptive scary facts to stall a proposed merger
between another large hospital group and big, world-renown Boston operation. The
emotions had the day in place of reality. The reality that says among other things,
the Local big chains cannot generate enough cash in this small state, in this new
world of healthcare to live up to the promises espoused by the complaining big group.
I have seen snippets
of food eating contests, and they always convince me never to attend one.
When you think about every,
and I mean every big controversy that consumes our energy and befuddles our
minds, it is almost always about m-o-n-e-y. Libs want to inhibit business to
free up more money for their social service industries. New energy companies like
the idea of Climate change to shift money to the development of their new
technologies. Just take a peek at any of the big angry discussions and you will
most likely find dough-re-mi behind the angst.
One of the reasons that countries
outside the US have a particularly jaundiced view of the President of the
United States, and even US foreign Policy, is because CNN is the most dominant
news organization in world wide news. It’s where not only other country populations
get news of the USA, but also leaders of countries, who wake up listening ot
it.
Is flipping, flopping?
The rise in home prices, due somewhat to speculative buying has flippers scurrying
to find houses priced to make a profit. Flipping ops combined with outsiders
buying houses for non-resident use (Like Air BnB) are most likely the real reasons
behind soaring home costs. It certainly isn’t because average homeowners love
overpaying for necessities. Ugh.
Will FedEx
delivery robots be licensed to carry guns?
There is a difference
between a nobleman and a noble man. And noble women for that matter.
We live in a nation
of low hanging fruit. People see what they see, grab it, but aren’t interested
to see what it take to get atop the tree. It takes work, mental and physical. Yes,
people are willing to accept bare bones theories without understanding the underlying
truths or facts.
Yes, I guess I am preaching
to the choir. I guess I’m just sharing my frustration with those who
understand. Sorry, folks.
Ah the advances
made by the internet: Wayz brings hordes of aimless drivers through quiet neighborhoods.
AirBnB brings hordes of noisy weekend neighbors to quiet neighborhoods. Twitter
brings masses of immature and shallow options confuse quiet minds.
If you can get through the dairy
section of a big supermarket in the summer, then there is no reason you can’t
get through a northern winter.
The Answer:
“Mr. Television”, Milton Berle, was the star of the Texaco
Star theater that brought families together for an hour every Tuesday on the early
black and white days. Bonus: This will be a tough question for some Americans
who probably haven’t been taught that we had 13 Original colonies. In 1607 John
Smith founded Virginia, the first colony. In 1610, Lord de La Warr became the first
English governor. New York was Number two and discovered original by Henry
Hudson for the Dutch, subsequently governed by Peter Stuyvesant, but the official
colony founding itself is attributed to the Duke of York. The John Winthrop led
Puritans founded Mass. George Calvert and Lord Baltimore Founded Maryland. #5
Rhode Island was founded by Roger Williams, and others who left a growing
hostile-to-all-religions puritan Massachusetts, like John Clarke and Anne
Hutchinson. Thomas Hooker founded Connecticut. Captain John Mason and John Wheelwright
founded New Hampshire. Peter Minuit and the New Sweden Company founded
Delaware. North Carolina was founded by Nathanial Batts and several Virginia
colonists. It was originally the “Carolina Colony” but was divided North and South
when a charter form King Charles gave South Carolina to eight noblemen. #11 New
Jersey was founded by Lord Berkley and George Carteret. Quaker William Penn
founded Pennsylvania and #13 Georgia was founded by James Oglethorpe.
The speaker of the RI House,
who controls just about everything in this state, said, “We are focusing on the
financial ramifications of new proposed bills and resultant higher taxes and
fees, versus ideological hopes. That’s kind of refreshing.
I think that
I’m hearing that younger generations are promoting kindness, and practicing it in
their lives. How thoughtful of them.
Happy Monday,
E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!
