Sticks and Stones.

Today's Tids Issue 4,406
Words should be precious:

Whack me with a stick or pummel me with stones. It would be less painful than some of the name calling I’m hearing these days.

It appears that fashion designers are incorporating Cheeto wear in their latest design statements. Yes, super thin models wearing abbreviated Cheeto emblazoned tops make Cheetos’ eating look like a diet regimen. I’m for that.

A lot of people just don’t jog because their beer would spill.

Trade war ups and downs are driving the stock market. But the underling economy is slowing, say some experts. Don’t be surprised if you begin seeing some of the larger investors increasingly move towards defensive investing. July 17th has been over the past decades a harbinger of negative declines. While the date should have the soul feeling the pull of sunny beaches, the mind may be warming to wariness.

The Question:
Tonight will find us with a new Stanley Cup Champion. Which NHL Teams have won the most Stanley Cups? Who won the past ten cups?

The Headlines:
--Consumer Price Index (CPI) Increases Has Investors Looking At Slowdown In Stock Movement. Markets Open Lower As Trade Concerns Rise Again.
--Internal WH Poll Has Biden Beating Incumbent.
--New Law In Maine says It Is Ok For Non-Doctors To Perform Abortions.
--American Airlines To Suspend 737 Max Flights Until September 3.
--Boston Bruins Poised To Bring Home Boston’s Third Major Sports Championship In 8 Months; Rest Of Nation Doesn’t care.

I understand why athletes wear logo clothing. They get paid a lot. But people?

They decided the Oberlin College/Gibson Bakery suit yesterday and it turns out that it represents just one more incident of over eager reporting and the danger of uninformed twitter rampages. Oberlin college professors and the college admin itself discredited an honest family business and urged boycotting the Gibson’s popular bakery after one black student was arrested for shoplifting and two others were arrested for misdemeanors. The University condoned cries of racist and the media ran with it. The University VP Raimondo and other professors and staff members handed out a flyer that read: “Don’t buy. This is a RACIST establishment with a long account of racial profiling and discrimination.” In addition, the university severed ties with the bakery which for years had supplied baked goods to the cafeteria. One of the arrested students who plead guilty, saying that the bakery’s action began after one of the three students used a fake ID to buy liquor. The student added that the action by the bakery was not racially motivated at all, but it was simply trying to avoid selling to an underage buyer. The Gibson family not only lost business, but a long-held reputation for excellence. The U will pay $11 million.

In another college, Georgia Gwinnett College, a professor is in danger of being fired after telling students there that “Illegal” immigration is bad for America. Telling the truth is grand unless it is the truth the intolerant don’t want to hear.

Have you noticed in your state that many laws passed seem mainly designed to increase business for lawyers?

Nelson Mandela was known as a Black Nationalist.

In addition to abbreviated Cheeto’s tops for women, there are also now available for men Cheeto’s Flamin’ Hot briefs. Zowie! This is all true folks. For all of you long time Puffy and Crunchy Tids aficionados, you know the cheesy Tids has been well ahead of the trend curve for all things Cheeto.

When your political polling numbers are in the tank you utter irresponsible, irrational pronouncements. Yesterday Gillibrand (0.8) said that people who are against abortions are racists. I don’t have to add anything more.

I think that major sports should reevaluate the naming of many stadiums and arenas. The Chicago White Sox play at “Guaranteed Rate Field”. Maybe the Miami Marlins should play at Pawn Shop Stadium.

A lot of the Dem 23 who accuse Trump as being the great divider actually dismiss half of the people in the USA with their intolerant ideological statements.

A particularly long meeting at King Arthur’s round table is called and all-Knighter. H anybody cleaned the outhouse?

I may have found a way to end the latest Tids Novel – “The Parking Lot” Something suddenly became obvious to me. I’ll work on it.

For newcomers to the wonderful world of Tidsville, this would be the fifth full novel completed in the Tids. The first, The Tie That Binds, is about an insular computer expert who suddenly finds himself the enemy of the people, criminal underworld and International terror groups. He with friends, new acquaintances and his FBI girlfriend undercover a plot to hack into the computerized weaponry of the new Zumwalt class of destroyers. It becomes a battle that revolves around high finance, with a broad-based criminal organization against a small band of regular humans.  A second novel, “Almost near” has a woman returning to her favorite place on earth only to discover that nobody there, who she remembers fondly, knows her at all. While she fights against her disillusioned mind, she discover a series of unexplained deaths and personal irreconcilable conflicts. She is a frightened woman who digs down to regain her sanity. #3, “Through the Same Eyes”, is about a successful woman business person torn between intense love of her husband and an equally compelling attraction to another man just opposite of her husband. This is all wrapped into a pharmaceutical conspiracy. The fourth, “The Conscience’, a northern college kid at a spring break concert in Mobile Alabama in the 1950’s accidently kills a southern girl wheel defending a young black boy against her attacks. He is haunted by her and the boy’s eyes. He lives with his guilt and fights alcoholic daemons until he is hired as a marine lawyer to investigate strange happenings at his college friend’s boat building empire. The dead girl was a friend of the Boat builder. The unfinished novel is about the settlement of a Sakonnett area town, farm people versus harbor people; colonists befriending Wampanoags during the King Phillip war…and how it affects ancestors in modern day Tiverton fighting against a ruthless takeover of land for development and casinos.

I’m hearing the word “Downturn” more often these days. Stocks to hold that may soften a landing: Kimberly Clake, Duke Energy, RCI Hospitality, Anheuser Busch Inbev, AMC Entertainment, Waste Management and Barrick Gold. The only thing I can say with surety about this list is that you will probably see more lists like as the drums of fear intensify.

Elizabeth W seems to be making a comeback. I don’t know why. In the Latest RCP averages, Biden is first at 37.6, Bernie is next at 18.2 and Elizabeth is at 9.6. The rest in order over “1” are Harris, Bettegieg, O’Rourke, Booker, Castro, Kubuchar, Gabbard and Yang. The next five below “1” are Gillibrand, Ryan, Bennett, Delaney and Williamson (0.4). There is another 7 below that 16.  Why waste the money?

The Answer:
Montreal has won 23 of the great silver Cups. Toronto follows at 13 and the Detroit with 11. Next are Boston 6, Chicago 6, Edmonton 5, Pittsburgh \, New York Rangers 4, New York Islanders 4, Ottawa 4 and New Jersey 3.  The last Ten Champions were Washington, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Chicago, LA, Chicago, LA, Boston, Chicago and Pittsburgh.

Now, hockey sticks will break your bones, but ugly coldhearted words after lead to fights on ice.

Personally, I’m rooting for the re-emergence of kindness.
