Today's Tids Issue 4,403
Bow Our Heads:
Juno, Omaha, Gold, Utah, Sword;
From Portsmouth England the Allies came, to those treacherous beaches they
swarmed. 150,000 of them; young men, older men, scared men, dedicated soldiers;
anxious fighting men. British, Canadians, Americans. The surf pounded, winds
blew like fury, and ships floundered. Bombs burst and shells scattered across swollen
seas. Men wading, guns held high, like sitting ducks; facing daunting cliffs,
and fortresses dug in; German soldiers firing down. Blood swirled through the raging
tides. Brave men now pushed on, hit the beach and running for cover to reassemble,
to now make the final assault. Inch by inch. .Above allied planes roared. Dropping
3,000 archlutists behind enemy lines; cutting off resupply. They took the
beaches then scaled the cliffs; they moved on, always forward; through villages
and towns and fields of wheat and white daisies. 24 war ships went down. 2,00o British
were killed or wounded on Sword and Gold; 600 in air drops. 961 Canadians at
Juno. At Utah and Omaha, The US lost 1,465 forever, had 3,184 wounded and 1,954
missing or captured. UU airborne lost 2,499 – 238 dead. And they moved forward.
Cheers rose in Paris, but the minds of the brave, exhausted, spent, were on the
beaches and in the churning surf; seeing those wo never made it to the glory,
on earth
Now that the campaigns for 2020
are in full swing, you can be sure of one thing, candidate after candidate will
pick out a major business entity to assault. They’ve been doing it since I learned
how to spell the word politics. And they know that there are always a huge number
of people who will think, “Yeah they must have screwed me somehow.”
Running with
bagpipes could get you kilt.
We need more futurists.
Not “Pop” futurists looking to make a buck on TV, but real, responsible
predictors of the next wave of change surely to affect the essence of society. Inside
the futurist enclave, they know that massive beginnings for paradigm change is already
here. The people don’t or don’t want to see it. They are not prepared to want
to know it. It, whatever it is, is coming for sure in as little as ten years,
and people should be ready to adapt and be flexible. Younger generations will
be inured in it. Education about a future
unlike anything the past is essential, to at least quell the anxiety, and suppress
over reaction to inevitability.
The Question:
What was Nellie Belle? Bonus: A very popular
movie of 1938 was Robin Hood starring Errol Flynn and Olivia De Havilland, What
was the name of the horse ridden by Maid Marian (Olivia).

__ DA’s Across The Nation, Democrat Candidates Think
Moving Manafort To Dangerous Rikers Island Prison Is Cruel And Unusual
Punishment.
Apparently, Germany
has in place a rigid carbon reduction plan. But, they have failed to ever reach
any of their targets. The reason: they closed down their very clean nuclear plants
in reaction to over anxious protests. That’s part of the big fallacy in this
climate discussion. You just can’t close down all existing energy sources until
you have a solid and efficient replacement operational. The argument is about common
sense versus rampant ideology.
In reality,
having common sense is a punishment. You have to deal with everyone without it.
I think I packed away
my fleece much too early.
Question of the century:
Was the love of Robin Hood’s life, Maid Marian, a commoner a Maid, or a Lady Marian
-- a noblewoman? I guess it is what you want her to be. Or how a director wants
to cast the next movie.
Nothing is sacred any more.
The Pope will change a line in the “Our Father” (Lord Prayer). The Line – “Lead
us not into temptation…”, will be changed to “Do not us lets us fall into temptation...”.
Make sense to me. People with free wills are not led into temptation by God.
It’s all on us baby.
Speaking of gifts from heaven,
Amazon just got FAA approval for drones. Watch out!
AGT is in danger
of becoming just one more singing competition. I’m more interested in the variety
-- of prestidigitation, of feats of daring-do, of jokes and dancing folks.
Wait, I’ve yet to see a funny comedian on that show.
If you really want a guage
on the strength of Trump’s support, you should poll “The Villages” in Florida
“Laughing stock”:
A company whose performance was so bad it became the joke of Wall Street.
The Answer:
If you remember the early days of TV with Gene
Autry, Hopalong and Roy Rogers, you knew that Nellie Belle was the jeeps driven
by Rogers sidekick Pat Brady. Bonus: Trigger was Roy Rogers horse (was
in nearly 200 TV shows), but he was also on loan at times, and in this case for
Maid Marian in the great 1938 movie. Not, that I was there.
The insanity seems to stop
when the men and women who freed the world from tyranny are remembered.
