Marbury vs. Madison is considered the most important judicial decision in US history. This marked the first time that the Supreme Court declared that a law passed by Congress and signed by the president was illegal. It made the Supreme Court an equal branch of the government. Of all the heroic Founders who have been honored, John Marshal with this dioecism could have been indeed the most influential of them all because he fundamentally changed the constitutional concept of the founders with respect to the SC as only an interpreter of laws. And Jefferson who was irate at eth decision found himself undermanned in his attempt to reverse Marshall. Tehe Supreme Court became a mighty check to our balanced system. And we need it more than ever.
Most mornings I don’t wake up thinking about Marbury vs. Madison. Aren’t you glad?
Volcanic tourists to the Canary Islands are basically cheering for the bankruptcies of the farmers, destruction of people’s homes, arable land and the island water supply. Let’s hope they bring their own water bottles. Anything for a thrill, tight Folks? It’s my right!
Today is “National No Excuses Day”. Uh-Oh – Part of playing golf is thinking up good excuses for bad shots!
The Question:
When did Gilligan’s Island premiere on TV: 1958, 1961, 1964 or 1968? Bonus: Who was the first Justice of the Supreme Court?

When I was a kid everybody was hoping they had enough money to afford a private telephone line so as not to lose their privacy to a “Party Line”. Now people clamor for places like Facebook so they can stand naked to the entire world. Go figure.
One of the biggest problems in the US that has changed our nation’s ability to be what it was is the rise of the unstoppable, pervasive sometimes insidious bureaucracy, which though unelected is often intimidating to average citizens, extends Presidential decisions beyond the grasp of Congress. And you just can’t get rid of them.
I was walking around town yesterday morning wondering that now that my Mother has been dead for quite a while if I still have to avoid stepping o sidewalk cracks.

“What I want to tell you is that all of this market cheerleading is BS. And, risk is being underpriced by market goers. None of the factors I just mentioned are priced into the market, how could they be?” That’s the view of Brian Sozzi who observes that Wall Street has been minimizing the seriousness of potential major problems like Fed Tapering, China’s Evergrande and Congress refusal to raise the debt ceiling. But maybe the biggest non-priced-in factor is the supply chain enigma – which could significantly affect earnings reports for major players like Costco, FedEx, Nike and a host of several dominant us companies. Maybe the sky isn’t falling but perhaps the brush fires are mering into a hot emergency.
Some say that the often-irrational anger of the left is still a hangover based on their hatred for Ronald Reagan. Yes, after all these years they just can’t reconcile the fact that an outsider would come to Washington DC and try to upset the way things had been, a government of the government, by the government and for the government.
Was that “by” the government or “buy” the government?

If I was smart enough maybe I could write a paper about the need a for transfusion of power back into the states. which always seemed to be the original intent of the founders. Back to the real grass roots. Congress as representatives of people and intrinsic sic values of individual states has been usurped by ideological groups, blesses and various and sundry advocates. The last vestiges of the States control over Federal Government domination is in fact the Electoral College, now under siege by nationalists. Our simple doctrine of freedoms and individual independence, and “of the people, by the people, for the people maybe perishing from this earth. But who cares if you still can score tickets for a Las Vegas show?
God, this mess is getting much too deep.

“002” after the “5” makes it look like I haven’t done anything yet.
Two single-minded people in a discussion will produced no resolution to anything. One single-minded person in a discussion with a rational understanding person will not hear anything. Two rational people, regardless of where their devotions may lay, will figure it out.
You know I preach getting back to reestablishing States as the dominate USA force to control a runaway federal government. But as I look around I see that people even have trouble controlling their town councils and school boards. Is there any hope at all?
Cal Gov Newsom upon escaping recall just signed new California law that banished the word “Alien” from all existing and yet to be enact Cal laws. How about replacing it with criminals.
The photo that launched a thousand anxious pleas and misguided accusations from the left is just the latest great example of misplaced hysteria supported by a dishonest media. I’m talking of that single isolated still photo that implies to some that Border guards are whipping illegal border crossers. But a what we are seeing in their hands are reins quite necessary for controlling horses, and a group of border patrollers with a thankless, really tough job trying to do as best they can on horseback what they have always done on horseback. And for our President to come out and arbitrarily condemn these people is a damn shame.
The Answer:
The iconic show Gilligan’s Island premiered in1964. Bonus: John Marchall has always been so dominant in early court history that people always forget that John Jay was number One CJSC. Maybe we need a new Broadway play, Jay.
So, as we see Presidents emboldened by their mostly unquestioned executive decision powers that are basically dismissive of the constitutional role of Congress, the representation of people, the USA folks, our representative government becomes more and more diluted. The last bastion protecting the people from a runaway executive branch is the Supreme Court that should forever be the modulator against a too powerful presidency.
