Individualism Rocks.

Today's Tids Issue 4,987

Gurus Schmurus:

Frankly, I abhor stereotyping.  For instance, I find equally thrilling and emotional watching a Nascar race and listening a soaring orchestra in symphony hall. They should be opposites, stereotypically speaking. I also didn’t particularly like Elvis even though the cultural bible says I as a fifties child must. I like being who I am, and I expect in reality, almost everybody else does too. I don’t read acclaimed or disclaimed authors but I watch bad, mindless TV like MacGyver and the Carbonaro Effect. I am me and you are you. And that is the way it is supposed tot be.

Let’s face it… like most hierarchies in America, the generals at the top at the Pentagon are most often the best politicians. And you get objectivity subject to the whims of the woke.

So, do vegetarians get to eat French fried potatoes all day long  without restrictions or cultural retribution? So long as they are fried in vegetable oil.

This may be too much excitement for any Tids reader to accept, but The Mighty Tids NFL Pickers will be back this week! I had to write that to remind myself that this is the week we begin to lay heads of some very fine football analysts on the weekly guillotine. Yes, it could get messy. Hey, wait, that’s me. The tension rises.

The Question:

This is championship season in the world of Golf and Nascar. Name the five last FedEx Champs and five last Nascar Cuo Seies Champs.

The latest Supreme Court announcement about Abortion is a perfect example of how American citizens are misled through opportunistic hysteria. The SC did not approve the Texas law as the disingenuous left shouted, but merely said the plaintiffs did not have standing in the court. In essence what they said was go back to the drawing board and represent your case through proper legal channels and we will listen then. But the threat to life gang points accusatory fingers this court which they would love to replace by using any poor excuse to mount opposition to its continued existence. You would think a good journalistic effort would go to explaining the difference. You’d think.

Anther example of hysterical opportunism currently in favor is the chorus of voices urging for a rush of the passage of the monster infrastructure bill which supposedly will wipe out climate alterations exemplified by the increase in fires and hurricanes. My question is, how will spending trillions of dollars stop a hurricane in its tracks or douse a roaring fire. They want gobs of money but they didn’t say how they plan to quell mother nature, at least for a few hundred years, if in fact all if the carbon reducing ideas actually work to change anything.

How many people feel they are supposed to like something because the cultural gurus extort them into accepting their truths or else they will be dubbed fools, or worse. Here’s a  good axiom for comfortable societal living: Yoe aren’t “supposed” to like anything”. You may have to do some human things perhaps pleasant and distasteful to remain civilized, like brushing or flossing your teeth, but you don’t have to like it.

Sometimes when I say “Happy Labor Day”, I feel like I am condoning communism.

Want to feel like you are floating majestically with feeling? Play the Kyrie from Maurice Durufle’s Requiem. But, remember, you don’t have to like it because I say it is pleasant.

Two of my all-time tennis heroes have always been “Little Mo” Connolly and Pancho Gozales. Not that anybody should care, But it in the heat of the present we often forget special athletes who may have slipped away from memories of the past. “Big Mo” was the mighty battleship Missouri, and yet no less formidable on the courts was the diminutive teen “Little Mo”, Maureen Connolly, She was the wunderkind of tennis in the 1950’s having won 9 major singles titles, and became the first woman to win the “Grand Slam”. She won the US Open when she was 16, beating the favorite Shirley Fry. She was a person that everybody just liked. Little MO is certainly an all-time great, and if she hadn’t had suffered a career ending horseback accident, she may have written a record book that would still stand today. Sadly to the adoring public, she died at 34 from ovaria cancer. I like writing about people like “Little Mo”.  And then there was Richard Pancho Gonzales who won 14 Major titles. The polar opposite of the pleasant Mo, he a had a temper and was a fierce competitor, yet a true fan favorite. He began his career with a tennis racket bought by his mom for 51 cents. Pancho was as surly as Little Mo was nice, but they were both able to beat all comers and were equally fan favorites.

“In science, if you don't do it, somebody else will. Whereas in art, if Beethoven didn't compose the 'Ninth Symphony,' no one else before or after is going to compose the 'Ninth Symphony' that he composed; no one else is going to paint 'Starry Night' by van Gogh.”

-      Neil deGrasse Tyson

The Answer:

For the PGA big one, the champs are Patrick Cantlay (Yesterday )and last year Dustin Johnson. Prior them we had Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Justin Thomas, Rory again, Jordan Spieth, Billy Horschel, Henrik Stenson, Brandt Snedeker, Bill Haas, Jim Furyk, Tiger Woods, Vijay Sigh and Tiger again. Rory has wo the most money in that run of Championships, over $33 Million. In Nascar, last year

it was Chase Elliot and before him we had Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Martin Truex Jr, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Brad Kaselowski, Tony Stewart and in the previous five Championships it was Jimmie Johnson all over again.

Yes, we are what is in our own minds. When we create from what is uniquely us, there is a good chance we may give the world something they have never experienced before.

Happy Labor Day, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
