I guess Labor Day is supposed to be about celebrating the unions. I always looked at it as the last day of summer before serious workdays began. The day before an autumn of labor. To celebrate hard work. To each his own.
In August, the economy grew more jobs – 315K vs. 298K expected; had higher unemployment, 3.7 vs 3.5 expected; showed lower wage growth than expected. So that says at least, for sleepy August, the economy was slowing. Hey, I was slowing in the dog days too. On the inflation front it is now opined that a slowing business economy will slow the need for more workers which in turn reduces the power of labor do demand higher wages, a major contributor to inflation. “Help wanted” signs may be changed to “Job wanted.” And at lower wages. We’ll see.
How about dem Dems – now they’re all crying “Fund the Police” except Bernie and AOC and her gang. Yes, higher crime increased as predicted by Repubs at the time of irrational stigmatizing of the police. Maybe next the left will view crime as crime... If it will produce votes.

Yesterday, Chairman of Russia’s giant Lukel Oil Ravil Maganov died. This is the eighth time this year a Russian energy executive has died under Mysterious circumstances. The 68-year-old rather intelligent Morganov was said to have died after falling out of a hospital window! Say what? I think there is a good “truth is stranger than fiction” novel in there somewhere. Reading of the seven other executive deaths are also eerily suspicious. So, I suspect writing such a novel would be dangerous to your health.
