The heart rules.

Today's Tids Issue 5,301

Toxins subsiding:

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart. --Helen Keller

Just five more months to Saint Patrick's Day. It’s always good to look forward to laughter and singing; bloodshot eyes and fat rosy cheeks.

The post-election lull seems to be setting in. And arguing factions maybe even agree from time to time.

The Tids International reporter supremo hears that in Poland they are telling Pennsylvania jokes.

Did you read where Fox News just said it will be all out against Donald T. Trump. It must be climate change.

The Question:

What do people think are the most overrated movies of all time?

The Headlines:

--Stocks Red All Over This Morning, Move Upwards After Noon; Sketchy Earnings To Date and Shifty Optimism on Inflation Reduction Have Stocks Slipping.

--Slaying of 4 U Idaho Students Still A Huge N Mystery

--Steady Rain of Russia Missiles Pound Ukraine Energy and Rocket Manufacturing Facilities.

--Same Sex Marriage Act Clears Key Senate Hurdle.

--Black Sea Grain Export Deal Extended.

The Tids "Eyes on Detroit” Reporter tells me that Ford expects to use 40% less people to make EV’s. To stay competitive in manufacturing and make products in the USA that people can afford, robot and AI automation are the only solution.

On a similar note, Subaru has put off expanding US operations as They see competing salaries in places like McDonalds approaching $25/hour.

One of my top all-time favorite TV programs is Hogans Heroes. Just in case you are interested in smiling again at a funny old series.

The TidsPickers continued in positive territory with a fair to middling 9-5 effort. But they need to do better to have a hope of nearing 70% much less a desire for 75%. The record now is 95.5-54.5 (64%). Some of toughest picks this week are among teams going barely anywhere, like LV-Den and LAR/NO, For those I hold my breath and go Den and LAR. Other tough picks are Dallas-Minn, Pats-Jets, GB-Tenn and maybe SF-Ariz. Dallas was a disappointment last week. I have to stick with Minn Minn has been squeaking it out, but crazily finding ways and wins. My Pats are really a mystery this year. The Jets have been playing tough, but I’ll go New England because I am stupid. Is Green Bay back. Tenn has been winning with D and ball control. This is a hard one, but I’ll go with GB. Everybody loves San Fran, and It is a hard to get a handle on the Cardinals. I’ll stick with the Niners, but I don’t know why.

Continuing on... I like Baltimore over the Panthers, Buffalo over the Browns, and Philly over Indy. The Giants versus the Lions is another tough pick because I am not yet a full believer in the Giants. Detroit can surprise. But I’ll clench my teeth and hope it isn’t this week against the NYG’s at home. Washington a has been showing us a lot lately and Houston has not. Maybe the Skins will have a letdown after the Philly win, but what’s going tn motivate the Texans. I go Washington. I love to watch KC. The Chargers are not a bad team, they are just not consistent. I have to stay with the Magician (KC’s Mahomes). Finally, we have another big rivalry. Last year’s Superbowl AFC team, the not so hot Bengals of this year against a Pitt team starting to find its way. I don’t know if I like the Pitt coach (Pats fans are like that about Coach Mike Tomlin) but I like the way he coaches at the end of the year. I pick Pitt in a mild upset. What a strange year this has been. It must be climate change.

There’s no truth to the rumor that in 2024 the Dems are planning for a Ticket of Biden/Fetterman. Or, is there?

The NY Times had a Headline this Morning: “Republicans Barely Won the House. Now, can they run it?” I don't remember asking if the Dems could run it when they barely won the house back. Already it starts.

This morning, The Mormon Church, which says their doctrine of marriage between and man and a woman has not changed, announced support of the new Same Sex Marriage Act. “We are grateful for the continuing efforts of those who work to ensure the Respect for Marriage Act includes appropriate religious freedom protections while respecting the law and preserving the rights of our LGBTQ brothers and sisters.” The essence of their approval is in the words, “it would support rights for same-sex couples as long as they didn’t infringe upon religious groups’ right to believe as they choose". Like cake makers in Chicago, flourists in Oshkosh and limo drivers in Kalamazoo. In other words, fairness across the board. A little less venom.

Here we go again... countering trials. The soon to be Repub house alleges this morning, “Biden directly involved in business dealings with Hunter.”

The Answer:

#1 one in this infamous list is The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part T 2. Next is Twilight followed by The Fate of the Furious, Avatar, Paranormal Activity, Ghostbusters (2016), Dream Girls, Dumb and Dumber To, Snow White and the Huntsman and at #10, Shakespeare in Love. Continuing on, we have La La Land, Transformers, Funny People, Charlies Angels Full Throttle and The Notebook. The most famous, ballyhooed “sleeping pill" of all time The English Patient was #21.

“I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death. --Leonardo da Vinci
