Today's Tids Issue 5,295
Gridlock is Good:
The Polls are open. I think it is too close to call, or maybe it's just the media not being entirely honest with me. They wouldn't do that, would they?
The statistics gathering web site Real Clear Politics (RCP) has the Senate make up after election day as 53 Repubs, 47 Dems. I suspect that would also have Joe Manchin and Kyrstin Sinema more apt to go Repub key votes.
And of course, most important, the public brain pounding poison is over. Now I can go back to watching TV without blood pressure medicine.
This morning I stood outside in 35-degree windchill weather and watched the moon eclipse. It was an agonizing process. The stupid things humans do.
Today is National Harvy Wallbanger Day. How great is that for political melee day.
Stock market Chiefs are looking for post-election gridlock. Gridlock is good.
The Question:
The Cheetah is the fastest land animal alive. What are the next five fastest land animals. Bonus: What is the fastest long-distance animal runner? The fastest Fish? The fastest Bird? The fastest insect?

Have you noticed that many of the Dem leaning CEOs of tech companies are not announcing massive layoffs until after election day. Zuckerburg who admits his Facebook is in dire Financial straits will announce “Massive layoffs” tomorrow. Several others are committed to follow this week.
I’m not going AI in car driving until I see Spell-Check getting wiser and more intuitive.
In case you forgot, The Harvy Wallbanger was invented in the 1950’s and popularized in the 1970’s. It is basically a Screwdriver with the addition of Galliano and chunk of Orange for decoration
My big statewide newspaper The Providence Journal is getting really, really thin, dismissing section after section it appears on a weekly basis. How thin is it? It is so thin that they may be tempted to use The Tids. That’s how low it has become for, "America's oldest daily newspaper in continuous publication". When they get rid of the Comics, I’m outta there.
Last night was the opening of college basketball season which brought as usual several opening season trompings as the bigs stepped upon the littles. Even rather smallish Bryan U of RI walked all over little Thomas college of Maine 147-56.
Cheetahs are the fastest animal alive being clocked at 60 to 70 miles per hour. Fortunately, they can only maintain that speed for up to 300 yards. So if you are being chased by a Cheetah there is always hope if you can reach 310 yards, that is if you can maintain 60 to 70 mph in the process.
Car Guru and racing entrepreneur Roger Penske still has it, This weekend with the Joey Logano win at Phoenix, he became the only owner ever to have captured the Nascar Cup Series and NTT IndyCar Series Championships in the same year. Will Power brought home the Indy series title in September. I knew Roger at college and he was a good guy, but a little soft on the football field, though talented. But Roger is the “Greatest Racing Team Owner in History”.
Why do they publicize lunatic activities of misguided Climate change enthusiasts who jeopardize priceless artwork with childish antics. They appear on the lunacy fringe, but maybe not so lunatic at all knowing that the media reporters are just crazy enough to report their insane activities.
Trump will surely announce his candidacy soon and then he will be like Sherman marching to the sea, trampling upon all the good Repub candidates who seem to be popular among honest people.
The Answer:
After the Cheetah there is the Pronghorn, Common Tessibel or Sassaby, Springbok, Thomson’s Gazelle, Blue Wildebeest, Lion, Indian Antelope, Lynx and at #10, Cougar. Bonus: The fastest long-distance animal is the Amercian Antelope known as the Pronghorn. The fastest fish is the Black Marlin which can achieve speeds up to 80mph. Next, they say is the Sailfish at about 67 mph. The fastest insect that has been measured properly is the Horsefly at about 90mph. But all other living things are snaillike compared to birds. The Peregrine Falcon has a diving speed of 185 mph. Also high on the speedy bird list is the Golden Eagle (150+) and The White Throated Needletail Swift (105). I only walk now and am about 3 to 4 mph. If attacked by any of the above, I'll just have to talk my way out of it.
I enjoyed laughing yesterday. Somehow it was just a good day. Friends are just so great. What more can I say.
