Today's Tids Issue 5,303
Rascalitis:
With the Hunter plea and the Trump indictment tomorrow, it is just another America in disgrace week. We’ve had the Teapot Dome, the Iran Contra, Watergate and the blue stained dress. We have had Spiro Agnew and Sherman “Vicuna” Adams... JFK’s aid Powers slipping blonds in the back door. And more on the nefarious scale of blatant misdeeds. So, this unfortunately is just another week in Washington ferreting out rascals. We shouldn't be so horrified. After all we elect humans. But we should expect honesty, and that is what we normally never get when the rapscallions are caught.
The saddest thing of all may be that the public relations pros and lawyers for the powerful don’t understand that most people can see through the charades.
And today is officially, National All or Nothing day”! How great is that. It's kind of get up and despite the negatives, let it go. Don't hold back. There is rarely anything to lose when you do what right. How coincidental that it is also National Disability Independence Day. How many stories do we see now where people severely disabled find a way to fight back within their new limitations to live positively, as fully as humanly possible. Yes, it is a great feeling of accomplishment day. Oh yeah and have a bagel and coffee milkshake along the way, because it's their day too.
Our TPL bought an Italian car sculpted out of cheese. He calls it his Mozzaratti. Can I be indicted for repeating that?
We have indeed lowered eth standards so that people who have none will feel comfortable.
The Question:
Who founded the West African nation of Liberia?

So, when will they indict Rudy Giuliani for lying about Georgia election officials? I used to like Rudy as the fighting NY DA and great crime stopping mayor, but he is way off the track now. And it is laughable listening to the Legal BS coming from his lawyers.
The climate changers are in full “the sky is falling” mode these past two weeks. Maybe it's a publicity campaign for Musks’ Move to Mars Space Company.
I wonder now what I would become if I were a young man coming into this new economy.
A Boston Celtic named Jaylan Brown signed a contract yesterday that will play him on average about $61 million per year. And at some point, he will probably be unhappy about Something. I hope they write into his contract that he will not be allowed to handle the ball or dribble in the last two minutes key of any game. $60 million a year to pay basketball! They must really be overcharging for seat tickets and hotdogs.
I never get tired of watching Susan Boyle sing, “I dreamed a dream”.
I’m looking forward to seeing Oppenheimer and I’m Ok watching at home on my TV. And my popcorn is cheaper too.
I'll be awaiting some good UFO tales coming out of the new Congress investigation. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that some may be running for congress in Rhode Island.
Yes, up here we are in the process of trying to elect a Congressperson replacement for the retried David Ciciline. I think about 14 have qualified for tis spot; meaning a few hundred votes might be enough for a winner. The top candidate, or should I say best known is the current Lieutenant Gov here, Sabino Matos. Her campaign is based on her having risen from poverty and being the first ever Hispanic black in Congress. But she certainly isn’t representing me, an old-fashioned Repub, if anybody out there still remembers what an Old Fashioned Repub might be. But she may have a problem as hundreds of her petition signatures are illegitimate it seems. Just by looking at the petition signatures that have been exhibited, you can see rows were written by one person. Add to that obvious forgery lists of dead people too. But she'll probably win anyhow, because this is Rhode Island. And Ill continue not being represented in the US Congress.
I walk a lot and often hear conversations. Yesterday I heard two old guys talking and laughing. One said, “I had a date last night.” The other asked if he enjoyed it. The first guy says, “Yes. tonight, I'm trying a fig.” I could be indicted for sure for that.
If it wasn't summer, then national nightly news would have anything to report.
The Answer:
Liberia was founded by freed American slaves. It was a joint effort that began in the early 1800’s between freed Slaves and the American Colonization society. The society was endorsed by Jefferson, Henry Clay and Daniel Webster, with public funding arranged by then President James Madison. The attempts at settlement were difficult mainly because the French and British were entrenched economic powers in the region, and local tribes were foreign to the ways of new Colonists who a had ascribed to US cultures. But finally in 1847 the colony established itself as Independent from America and The Society. Britian established diplomatic ties in 1848 but the US didn't until 1962. However, from 1862 until the 1990’s the US was very supportive of the growing country.
I dream a lot. It's good for the soul.
