We are continually reminded.

Today's Tids Issue 5,286

Responsibility:

I was confused. So what's new, you say? I thought today was the 4th celebration. But today is a workday (Yeah, lots of luck with that in the new economy) and tomorrow is the holiday. Actually, the Fourth is always the Fourth, just as Christmas is always on the 25th. It's just all the other holidays are fudged to a Monday to make long weekends for the travel lobbies. So, I’ll say happy 4th again tomorrow.

Hey, what with all this anger about the Supreme Court denying the magical disappearance of the college loan obligation. Don't people understand the word “Loan”, as in, it isn’t your money. And more so, don’t they understand the obligation to repay when they initially incurred it? How pathetic will this country become if people (And that includes wall street and big business) expect to be bailed out of their own misguided decisions. If personal responsibility disappears. A loan is a loan and needs to be paid back. Period.

I love fruit mainly because it is so colorful and makes for great photographs. And I like still life's because the fruit is still in the bowl.

It is amazing how much I have akways learned from my stupid moments.

The Question:

Name five Alan Arkin movies.

The Headlines:

--Markets closed at 1:00Pm; Bull Mood Strengthening;

A “gimmie” is an agreement between two golfers who can’t putt. (Thanks to a noted reader)

Headlines the at Bother me, Department;

“How undocumented RI residents can get driving credentials.” They are undocumented because they snuck into the USA unlawfully. And this is a weekend we celebrate the birth of an incredibly giving nation created by immigrants. Many of whom were driven to build a country devoid of the injustices of the places from which they came. And when the new country emerged on that day we celebrate, it was open to policies that welcomed all immigrants through reasonable legals systems. And we still do. We have not closed the door to legal immigration. Despite how the media continues to misrepresent our tried-and-true immigration policies.

A great friend of mine and many died two days ago. And it is very sad. He would always fight for the best of America.

Our current Governer McKee will probably become known as the most expensive governor in the history of this state. His tacit approval of new super over the top generous pension disability program where a person can walk with a big payout for a possible minimal affliction will cost cities and towns billions they can’t afford over time.  It is just one of many of his giveaway gestures to voting blocs.

Even today we are continually reminded of man's disregard for the good of fellow humans as governments become less for the people within their domains and more for the anointed few. And every day there are many great Americans continuing to work to uphold the spirit of the founders which would assure that cannot happen upon our shores. But the battle gets tougher.

I am convinced that Spell-Check hasn’t clue about the word “They”

And yes, “Gimmie: seems to be the current state of mind for many Americans and it is quite sad.

Alan Arkin died over the weekend. He was a complete entertainer who just seemed to define the word, Talent. You know one when you see one.

The Answer:

Arkin is another of those talented Americans who began at Chicago’s Second City. He made his first big splash on Broadway in Enter Laughing. He also won a Tony for s directing The Sunshine Boys. Some of his Movies are The Russians are Coming, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Catch 22, The In-Laws (one of my favorites), Freebie and the Bean, Edward Scissorhands, Havana, Glengarry, Glenross, Little Miss Sunshine, The Pentagon Papers and latley in The Kaminsky Method.

Happy day before the 4th. That would be known as the 3rd... right?
