Today's Tids Issue 5,293
Vanilla is Best:
I just can’t understand how people can “Hate” each other the way they seem to in this society of ours. And what really bothers me about the hate and anger and condescension is that as you grow older you really begin to understand how much people need each other. How when you have been though the wars of life, you realize that the people you know are everything. Even for a recluse like me.
AGT really knows how to stage the acts and the backstories.
Do you get the feeling that a lot of the news we watch is featured simply because it comes with the best available videos.
A pasta with no money is penne-less
The Question:
Like us here, I'm sure you all have some really great local Ice Cream shops. But what do Americans Nationally think are the best parlors, shops.
The Headlines:
--Markets Up at Opening; Inflation Cools Rising at its Lowest Rate Since 2021.
--Vermont Waters Receding; Rans Threaten to Return at Week’s End.
--NK Fires Long Range Missile After Threatening US.
--Greyhound Bus Crashes in Illinois Killing 3, Injuring 19.
--NATO Deepens Ties to Ukraine but Makes No Promises on Entry Timetable.
--Iowa Passes Anti-Abortion Bill That Eliminates Most Abortions after Six Weeks.
Those AGT audiences will applaud mightily just about anything. That's the same reason people you could never imagine getting elected, get elected.
That said, I really enjoyed that puppet act. And I really dislike sword swallowers and body pain inflictors.
The New York Times has closed down its sports Department. Being a sports guy, I hate to see the trend, but I am totally not surprised. My big state paper has been cutting back, but still is hanging in there with some opinion stories, which frankly is their place now as it is nearly impossible to be a meaningful scorecard. But it is definitely a sign of the times, as they say. Personally. I get everything I need from my CBS Sports app way before the newspapers are printed. And the NYT’s is saying they will be pushing their sports online effort, “The Athletic”. Just evolving with technology. But we will miss the wit someday. Cold hard facts are basically just that.
Do you know what I have had a lot of trouble understanding? That $350,000 house is a low-cost house.
Actually, I rarely watch AGT this early in their season but a good friend who teaches kids at Fort Bragg schools (Now Woked up to Camp Liberty) suggested I tune in to watch the 82nd Airborne Division singing. They were enjoyable. and I loved their enthusiasm.
Do you think kids in their teens and twenties will ever stay with something long enough to create a sense of nostalgia for their older days. Maybe they’ll just dial up their favorite AI machine and ask, what were my favorite memories for 2030.
There has always been a big argument between people who liked saltwater ocean living and those who preferred freshwater lakeside living. And as I remember clearly the sides argued passionately but they never hated each other.
And of course, you all know what sweet potatoes wear to bed – yammies.
The Answer:
To be honest, I often have this urge to lick down a Dairy Queen cone, and that is number 1. Next are Baskin-Robbins, Stone Cold Creamery, Ben & Jerry's, Hagen-Dazs, Dippin’ Dots, Culver's, Steak n’ Shake, Sonic Drive-In and at 10, Rita’s Italian Ice. Number 11 is an old New England Chain, Friendly's. The rest to fifteen are Marble Slab Creamery, TCBY, Yogurtland and Bruster's Ice Cream. Good Old Carvel is 16. Our local chain here, Newport Creamery, is 39. But then we have some amazing smaller places, a few with cows in the back yard Like Greys and Wright's Farm. Brickley’s has been and is good here, but the new sensation is Clementines. Just in case you are in RI someday and the ice cream urge beckons.
Guess what I’m having for lunch
