Why do we forget.

Today;s Tids Issue 5,317

Sea-salt and chocolate:

Holy Oppenheimer Batman, it's Victory Day! Yes, it is Victory Day in RI, the only remaining state in the USA to celebrate VJ day, the end of of WWII. Now lots of people in retrospect look at this day differently. Some say it is in the past. Let it go. Why are some still hanging on. Others look at the consequences of our action against Japanese cities. But those who lived through the war remember the agony of living under the threat of a vicious diabolical foe. Remember how without warning a blur of planes and ships unmercifully strafed and ravaged peaceful Hawaii like a fire storm out of nowhere. No, I still remember that prideful day when the war ended, and the killing of brave American soldiers stopped.

Zen question of the day from an inquisitive reader: “Why do you never find people in their self-storage units?”

Just when you think it is ok to relax after a lifetime of working and living in a complex society, you have to sit around and worry about data breaches.

One of the more enjoyable new salty snacks is “Club Crisps” Many of you may have already used Club Crackers regularly. The crisps just kind of melt in your mouth and it is frankly quite impossible to keep your hand out of the bag. It is owned by Cheez-it which is a snack arm of mighty Kellogg's.

The Question:

Arrange our planets by size from largest to smallest.

It has become apparent to me that scaring people is the surefire way of attaining great riches and political power.

The next big economic shakeup could be the result of a major auto Union strike, The drums are beating in the distance and they are saying it's time to get our share, The Union have been watching the big US three make huge profits of and will be saying to management, hey... we accepted changes in work rules and big cuts in benefits, income and pensions to help you all out of bankruptcy about 14 years ago, and now it is our time. Get ready.

Check out Mark Levin and his legal analysis of these Trump Indictments.

One little irksome thing in life is the result of salty snack manufacturers getting me addicted to a new product and then removing it forms the shelves apparently because nobody other than me liked it.

I always manage to find a little peace and comport in Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

RI’s Smithfield Little League team made it to the Little League World Series. That’s the 7th time in just the last 12 years that the best regional team here came from little ole’ RI. RI’s Cranston West won the USA Championship in 1996. I still remember it. It is nive ot know the sandlots are still active.

Biologists have produced immortal frogs by removing their vocal cords. They can't croak.

Your eyes may glaze over as you read about yields and yield curves and technical date points reached and under achieved but basically what the stock analysts are saying now is that tech Stocks hate high interest rates. So, let that be your guide.

Remember when “Mixed Marriages" were when Catholics and protestants got married? Horrors!

An observant reader reminds us how history tends to repeat itself. Remember, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman Monica"? Now we have, "I was not involved with my son's business dealings."

Why does Elgar's Nimrod of his Enigma variations sound like the greatest love song ever written?

I must have been deprived as a kid, because I never understood the incessant pool game “Marco, Polo”! Huh?

I looked for a piece of music that sounded triumphant hopefully befitting a celebration of Victory. This (Als known as the navy hymn) feels good to me:
