Huh?

Today's Tids Issue 5,831

Isolationism?:

The Markets are pretty much back to their historic highs, but Wall Street just isn’tfeeling it”. Tis current state of a questionable market shows you what carloads of cash can do for an insecure market that has no direction

Yesterday the Senate passed the “Stable Coin rules Billwhich is said to be a huge push towards Crypto legitimacy. Huh?

What I don't know is beginning to bother e me. Like yesterday I learned that Soup dumplings are dumplings with Soup inside, and that they are very trendy. Huh?

One of the very intelligent Tids readers writes to tell us that a really smart TV would increase volume when you started eating potato chips.

The Question:

In 1948 Columbia released the first ever 33 1/3 record which changed everything. What music, singer, orchestra was on that first long-playing record. Bonus: Quick now – who was the first American woman in space?

The Headlines:

--Iran Supreme Leader Replies that they will Never Surender; Israel Relentless Attacks Taking a Toll on Iran Resources and Fighting Capability.

--Markets Drifting on Concerns over Bigger Middle East War; Fed Meeting Ends Today with No Rate Change Expected.

--Repub Lawmakers and Trump Allies Urging Him to Avoid Getting America into Middle East War.

--Indonesia Volcano Regurgitates Huge Ash Tower; Volcanic Eruption Warnings Issued.

--Iranian Regular People Flocking to Iraq to Stock Up on Essentials; Highways Leaving Teheran Jammed.

While bombs are flying in the Middle East wars, its big bucks that are fueling the new Techno wars. Sam Altman chief of Open AI says Meta is raiding his staff and using a $100 million Bankroll to do it. There are wars and then there are wars.

The Pentagon has stopped issue reports about increased pizza deliveries prior to military action -- claiming there is a knead to know basis only.  (This is the latest form the TPL. Should I renew his contract?)

The Florida Panthers last night won their second Stanly cup in a row. The star of the series was Brad Marchant who my hapless Boston Bruins dumped a couple of monthago. Marchant ha been with the Bruins since 2006, 18 years! Obviously, he had more left in the tank than some of his Bruins associates. Hey, Boston sports teams are great at trading away superstars. Tom Brady won his 7th Superbowl a year after he was dumped by the Pats. And I won't even get into the Red Sox who are still pained by the 1919sale of Babe Ruth to the dreaded you-know-who's.

Oh, sorry for the home team paragraph above.

Florida had become ice hockey central. Huh?

Potato chop bags should include little pouches of Tums. Or, maybe I should stop eating chips. Fat chance.

Oklahoma City should win it all tonight with an injured Haliburton playing on hobbled legs at best.

The top songs at his moment are Manchild, Ordinary, What I Want, Just in Case, Luther, Espresso, Birds of a Feather, I remember Everything and Die with a Smile. Huh? Id name the singers of those songs, but I really don't want to embarrass myself any more than I have

How can there be so many songs written with so few notes?

Tesla is having problems. Sales are down, and the competition is up. This could be a long road back for the former wealthiest guy on this planet. Well, maybe Musk still has his title.

BTW, the ten wealthiest in the world at this very moment are Musk with $357 Billion. He his followed by Mark Zuckerberg at $245B, Jeff Bezos at $234B and Larry Ellison at $200B. The rest of the top ten who are all between $150B and $199B are Bill Gates, Steve Ballmer, Larry Page, Warren Buffet, Bernard Arnault and family and Sergey Brin. Just in case you need to know a guy.

The worst consumer experience I’ve had was buying a new smart phone. I dread the thought of having to go through that again... not that buying a car is painlessly exciting.

You can’t believe everything you hear, but you can repeat it.

The Answer:

Columbia records really changed the world of Music potential with the intro of the first usable long play record. This initial effort featured Violinist Nathan Milstein with the NY Philharmonic under Bruno Walter playing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor. The 33 was boon for Classical music and even Moreso for Pop Albums. Bonus: Of course, you knew it was Sally Ride. After NASA she taught at UCal San Diego until she died at the young age of 61.

Maybe this will make you feel relaxed and more comfortable with a rainy day, and a grainy Tids. The andante form Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto. Don't get nervous, it's short.
