Today's Tids Issue 5,816
Are there words:
“I remember the first time I had to go to sleep. Mom said, `Stephen, time to go to sleep.' I said, `But I don't know how.' She said, `It's real easy. You just go down to the end of tired, and take a left.' So I went down to the end of tired, and just out of curiosity I took a right. There was my mother, saying, `I thought I told you to go to sleep." --Steven Wright
I hope you can stay awake for the rest of this. There may be something worthwhile in it.
One of the eternal conflicts for me is this idea of the acceptance of what is legal versus what is ethical and reasonable.
I thought raining cats and dogs was bad. Then it started hailing taxis.
72 years ago today, Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa guide Tenzing Norgay became the first to reach the top of Mount Everest. Today it is an overcrowded tourist attraction, maybe the most dangerous tourist attraction of them all. Except for a White Lotus Island.
The Question:
There are only three limitations on the use of the Presidential pardon power. What are they?

The new RCP polling averages still has majority of Americans saying US is going in wrong direction, 43.7 to 50.9. But... the real news is the closing of the gap between right and wrong direction. While the gap showed a -32-point spread before Trump it is now down to just a -7.2 gap. So, despite the negatively of the economic situation more people are seeing something they like.
A Steven Wright ran for Texas Repub congressman and lost big. He wasn’t funny. That is a problem with a lot of politicians. He might have won if he was the real Steven Wright. But the real Steven Wright didn't like politics and promised not to use it in his performances along with Sex and Drugs. He was strange and funny enough without having to go that low. I think the world needs a funny politician.
I had a crowded schedule today and tomorrow and now I don't. Now I have to find something productive to fill my time. I hate feeling guilty.
Apparently, Russia has anew fiberoptic Drone which some say is a “Terrifying" weapon. It sounds like a drone attached to a fiber octic cable is going backwards, not state of the art, but these short-range drones cannot be electronically jammed. They are also known to enter inside building to look for targets, human and otherwise. Itis reported that Ukraine is equipping its armies with scissors. Weapons are just getting more sophisticated even at the expense of turning off Bluetooth. But that’s nothing. Wait until AI starts creating its own. Who knew?
The Answer:
Presidential pardoning opportunities are quite broad though you would hope President used reasonable judgement when issuing them. The limitations are: A crime must have been committed to issue a pardon. Two, this presidential power is limited to Federal crimes. Three, the President may not issue pardons in cases of impeachment. Other than that, there are no constitutional restrictions. Seems a little scary, doesn't it.
I was told that 90% of the accidents I would get in would occur within 1 mile of my house. So, I moved. --SW
Which reminds me... time to move on.
Some of the great love songs, the saddest, have been about moving on. Here is one that is particularly haunting:
