Cool it.

Today's Tids Issue 5845

Softly:

The tariff enigma just became more entangled. That's what happens when governments start messing around with natural capitalism

When I was a kid, my parents moved a lot, but I always found them. Rodney Dangerfield.

They say that in April a young man’s fancy turns to love. But ten fires are still burning in July.

The Question:

There is an intriguing musical genre called note shape music. What is it and why is it called note-shape music,

Today is the kind of day you don’t mind one damn bit shopping inthe frozen foods section.

The WNBA is in full fledge promotional mode living off of Caitlin, Angela and a host of newcomers. But it is tough to be interested in what's going on when the local team herem Connecticut Sun, is 2 and 16. And It's baseball season for me.

Speaking of baseball, I got to hope that the grand old game doesn’t become the Savannah Bananas. Everything in America doesn't need to be turned into glitzville.

The Wall Street opinions now say it is concentrating on Big Caps and growth as opposed to small caps and value. Its ben that way probably starting 2 and half years ago. Just in case you are interested.

I knew I was ugly when I was playing in the sand box and cats kept covering me upRodney Dangerfield.

Maybe Do you think Israel got some new weapons for a Nobel nomination? Peace for weapons.

Playing Frisbee with a five-year-old is like throwing a Frisbee and running after it.

If Sinner wins Wimbledon, there may be a need for an asterisk. He a truly great player was in deep trouble down two sets today ot Grigor Dimitrov. But just after Grigor serving an ace to go up 3-2  in the third he pulled at his chest and collapsed to the ground They worked on him, but he had to retire due to a serious chest injury. Dimitrov had been dominant, perhaps in some part because of a painful fall by Sinner early in the match. Sinner rushed over to comfort his close friend who was in agony, encouraging him to shake it off and get back in the match. Dimitri just couldn’t do it, but you gotta love the sportsmanship.

I used to work at a fire hydrant factory, but employees couldn't park anywhere near the place.   Steven Wright.

The Answer

Shape Note music had its origins here in New England with Puritan Hymns and drifted south where it became widespread in simpler amateur signing. The ends of notes are not the circle but other shapes like squares, rectangles, diamonds or ovals. It is a visual aid to musical novices or true amateur music creators, those who can’t read music. Which is why it became popular in folk music which is community driven

Maybe a young man’s fancy turns to love when he listens to Elgar's Nimrod in his Enigma variations.
