Precedents.

Today's Tids Issue 5,852

A little here, a little there:

The Stock markets are tender. The Banks came in with very good earnnings but almost all of them added warnings. The next big block of telltale stocks are the techs. Oracle is rolling, but why. Because it’s big and has a popular cloud operation? Or simply because there is just a helluva lot of cash around and Oracle is associated with all of the key places.. Netflix reports today and its high valuation will place it under a stronger microscope this time around. It will be a stage setter for Q2 reports. How can techs keep up the growth, they say. But the success of NVidia is trickling down to all techs and the tide continues to rise upon it.

One of the saddest little things I have read lately is about the mother of one of the girls washed away in the Texas camper flood who is now receiving letters from her child after she's gone. There's something about that touches my heart in a tearful way.

We saw two definitions of Thin yesterday: One was Trumps hedging statement about not planning on firing Pawell. The other was NPT R/PBS’s reasoning for keeping them alive, that they are an essential voice warning the public when disaster strikes.

Engraved names of lovers on trees aren’t cute or romantic. They’re creepy reminders of how many people carry knives on dates.

The Question:

Data Centers for the Cloud and AI suck up power, and in 2023 used about 4.4% of the nation's power supply. What % do you think it will be in 2028?

The Headlines:

--Markets Jump Early; Reduced Jobless Claims and Rising Retail Sales Surprise Wall Street.

--Senate Votes to Reduce Funding to Public Broadcasting and Foreign Aid.

--Large Tropical Depression Baring Down on Southeast; Could Bring Serious Flooding.

--Following Israel Strike on Syria to Protect Religious Minority, New Interim President says, “Syrians are Not Afraid of War,”

--Biggest “Mars” Rock sells at Auction for $5 Million.

--Tennis Hall of Fame Under Criticism for Billionaire Pay to Play Doubles Matchin Pro Tourney; Billionaire Bill Ackman, a HoF supported Received Special Exemption from Hall Management.

This is a great time of year for celebrities because there seems to be so little real news. That means marriage difficulties in Hollywood and various and sundry star apologies become lead stories on national media

From where I look out, it seems Trump seeks to bend rules to achieve personal vendettas. And those rule alterations could easily become precedent to be used against anybody by anybody.

It’s like the old bug thing. They say if there were time travelers, one going back in time could squish a bug that could change the direction of civilization

Inconsequential over time will become consequential.

LinkedIn thinks I'm really interested that somebody looked at my profile. Or that missing a big chance to connect to a health care salesman in California will damage my future.. BTW, my profile is about 30 years old. Wouldn't they be surprised if I showed up for an interview with my walker. (Note, I don’t have a walker. I just stumble)

I read that the Baseball all-star game had a record viewership Tuesday. Isn’t MLB lucky that people in the USA aren't like me.

Here’s a new one to comprehend: In England they are finding success with three people DNA babies. Say what? Yes, they insert into the egg of the mom and sperm of the dad am egg from a donor woman. The result: Babies free from hereditary diseases. A lot of parents there are smiling they say. It would become an argument for the ages here. But the TV and radio talk show ratings would go up and what could be better than that. Healthy babies?

You have to wonder why Wall Street is contiually “Surprised” considering they probably pay lots of money to the best Ananylst saround

The Answer:

It is expected that by 2028 the demands for energy by Data Centers coudl grow to as high as 12% of the nationsl energy output. That is a lot of added capacity. And it must be efficient. Yes, capturing evry person's whim and comment has consequences.

But there is a power that keeps everything going and it is atmospherically inert:
