The Youth is looking in all the wrong places

Todays Tids Issue 3,170
Opening Stuff:

One of the great exhilarating scenes is watching the young navel officers-to-be in their predawn workouts and runs at the OCS school in Newport. Their energy, precision and enthusiasm should be an example for all young Americans, maybe the role models more of them need..

You may have noticed from time to time that I lapse into some ethereal view of the world around me. Sometimes you just gotta get away from the insanity of politics. Writing about it triggers an enzyme, known commonly as the “Enigma Enzyme”, which when stimulated by the vacuous utterings of our representative pretenders, leads to the slow but inevitable eating away of the brain. No human with half a soul is capable of understanding the justification of outright lying, mass manipulation and unconscionable disregard for the broad electorate. The brain will rot from irrationality, unless can sink into the world of waving daisies on green rolling hills; beneath the magnificence violence of crashing waves and roaring seas. Uh-oh, here I go again.

“Look at Gwyneth Paltrow being named the most beautiful woman this year. She got Helen Keller and Stevie Wonder to vote.” Because she is in the ICU, I read though a lot of Joan Rivers one-liners, and didn’t find myself laughing as much as I thought I would.

The Question:
Who are the five Wealthiest People In Congress? Bonus: Guess who is coming to town tonight for a $15K to $32.5 K per plate fundraiser. The key hint is the word “Fundraiser”.  Double Bonus: Also at the fundraiser will be a former speaker who stretches the truth while she tightens her face and is adept at misleading the public and obscuring facts. Who is it?

Speaking of fundraisers, ex Prez Jimmy Carter is hosting and another gathering dinner for the benefit of his favorite Terrorist group, Hamas. Doesn’t he know that peanuts when combined with “Billy Beer” has a profound effect on the stability of the brain!

A guy named Chuck Wilson, a former local sportscaster is developing something that will contribute to a new new norm that he considers basic to strong societies – honesty in sports, especially for the wide eyed young who see achievers disregarding honesty and decency to reach the top. He calls it “Even Field” and in his own words says, “(we’re trying to) swing the pendulum back so the expectation is to behave honorably.” He adds, If we develop values based thinking, we will have more responsible, respectful, caring individuals.”  Chuck’s group will travel anywhere, offering clinics to sprots team groups. It will take time he says, but we have time and we know it is important to get it done” I’m sorry Vince Lombardi, winning isn’t everything if you lose your integrity and character along the way.

When compared to working for a living, welfare looks pretty good to a lot, as a new government report says the average benefit measured as an hourly wage is $20! The government more than doubles the minimum wage paid to people who actually work for their money. It is even a third higher that the proposed $15/hour min wage shich in itselv=f is an economic travesty. So, how do you measure welfare in pure economic terms? You cant because it makes no sense.

Is it me, or do people in public just seem noisier than ever?

Reading between the Lines Movie Reviews:
--The November man will be on my top-O-The-must-see list. Any review that starts with CIA grabs me. In this one Pierce Brosnan a retired agent living in Switzerland I lured out to prorcect a beautiful witness, only to find that he becomes the target of his former friend and CIA Protégé. With growing suspicion of a mole operating within, there is nobody to trust. I tense as I type.
--As above, so below is an eerie little ditty in the dark catacombs beneath he streets of Paris; a place where countless souls roam in their eternal home. A group of explorers try to unravel the mystery of a newly discovered pile of bones, only to uncover a dark secret that begins a journey into madness and terror.

The Answer:
The five wealthiest congress pople are #5 rep. Michael McCaul (R-Tex), #4 rep John K. Delaney (D-Md), #3 Rep Jared Polis (D-Col) and #2 Sen Mark Warner (D-Va). The really, really big money guys is Rep Darrell Issa (R-Cal) who averages about $464,115, 018 with a high of $598 Humdred K plus. No wonder he’s leading the charge In the IRS investigation. Bonus: President Obama will be here tonight for a Dem fundraiser at a local Oceanside mansion. The question is…with only 37 republicans in RI, why do they need a fundraiser? Double Bonus: Yes, The Pelosi will be in town too, and she will entertain, showing how to wiggle her ears while moving her lips. So, when you see wiggling ears, you know the American public is being sold a bad idea. It’s called the rabbit syndrome.

All of the most beautiful things in the world just don’t measure up to having good health

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-b-o-d-y!!

Noise hurts.

Opening Stuff:

Harbors are quite a amazing. The sounds. Horns calling, the soft rumble of launches fetching. The halyards clanging against masts, snapping a tune of wanderlust. The tides rushing around moorings. Gentle breezes whistling through rigging. Soft waves lapping at pilings. The Sights: Seagulls sitting top masts silhouetted  against a setting orange sun, rocking to rhythm ot the sea. Sailors lugging duffels aboard for an evening cruise, the first leg of a journey to discovery. The calm wakes of incoming boats finding their nighttime havens. The splash of sea creatures who are getting back the waters after human play. Oars hitting the glassy surface propelling ever widen ripples to the sleepy shore. The senses: I sit on bow hatch, feeling the gentle rock like a baby in a mothers secure arms; I feel the cooling evening creeping up my skin; I taste the salty mist with my tongue.

One of the great examples of the new bias in America can be seen in the issuing of fines against traditional energy companies is cases of animal kills or environmental disruption versus the blatant waving of fines for similar incidents for wind and solar companies.

I’ve thought of getting a coffee bean grinder. But, that harsh noise before I had a chance to awaken gently to soft music could injure my psyche for the rest of the day. It’s also the reason I never turn on political commentators til late in the day.

The Internet if anything, is the biggest Advertising medium ever in the history of marketing. Sucking people in to give away all of their personal info and accept tracking is all for the benefit of advertisers. It is not about anything more than that.

It was reported that a US Coast Guard boat in the Persian gulf fired on an Iranian Dhow which seemed poised to fire a machine gun. My first question is what are US Coast Guard boats doing guarding coasts in the Persian Gulf? Have hwe quietly annexed new territory?

Have you ever thought about how Facebook can assault family budgets? For centuries people, women mainly, could get by with a smallish wardrobe. But now with the universal exposure medium, a new dress is needed for every large occasion or small gathering which certainly will be broadcast to the world. And then, you need an addition to the house for a larger closet. Ooh, she wore that on FaceBook yesterday!

In case you are wondering about that local supermarket news item, it’s about employees of a non-union company becoming irate after relatives of the founding family ousted the family member who made the chain great for workers and consumers. It’s about people making things happen. It can be done without Government. Really.

Speaking of family business, how about that sister of the Boston Bombers making a bomb threat against another woman in NY? The brainless rule.

The zero earnings company Snapchat was valued at $10 Billion yesterday, probably in anticipation of an IPO. In case you all have big bucks on the sideline, you may want to take a gander at other hot M&A targets – Yelp, WebMD, TrueCar and Demand Media.

Well, tonight we begin our last stretch of exhibition games in the annual transition to real football – well, as real as the football tsars will allow. Tonight will be interesting up here as the Pats go against the Jints with rookie QB Garafolo expected to be given the chance to live or die for the entire game. He is the new fan favorite, and the women have already put him ahead of Brady in the handsome column. --The Brown are trying to find consistency in there QB situation which could be diminished with the affirmation of Josh Gordon’s year long suspensions. --The NFL has penalized the Seattle Seahawks for being “Too Rough” during practice! Do you get the sense that a noose being tightened around Israel?

The hot new diet buster in RI is the lobster version of the Clam Cake called Lobster Belly Bombs. They are chock full of lobster right off the boat and sold by the Fisherman’s Cooperative at Long wharf. Oh, you can do much better buying lobsters off the boats in Galilee down in Narragansett. You used to get deals in Newport too, until they got organized. They must have received money from some Gov agency, because they sure don’t operate like a competitive biz.

The Answer:
#1 College for good eating is Bowdoin College up in Maine (Lobster every knight?) The rest are Johns Hopkins, Columbia, Kennesaw State U, Northwestern, U of Rochester, NYU, Occidental, Duke and Boston University.

Well, you can criticize the Net, but without it you wouldn’t get the Tids.

America, it’s in there.

Today's Tids Issue 3,167
Opening Stuff:

I think life is pretty damn great, until I turn on the news.

A little, mainly Hispanic city of Central Falls RI was bankrupt, down and out, on its last legs. That is, until something happened, and what happened was all about the people. This was a town long associated with Columbians, and the drug trafficking identified with that country. Yet something happened there. Today, the town is a bustling place. People doing what people do, shopping, employing, helping neighbors -- reviving, rebuilding  – shaping a future. Maybe it was the positive efforts of native Oscar winner Viola Davis who shown a better light on the town. Or the students of the High School who applied themselves to take advantage of the educational opportunities, and brought back to the schools examples of the success of their efforts. Maybe the people began to see through the self motivation of political hacks who brought their town down to ruin. Maybe that’s why they turned to newcomers in politics. New energy, new ideas, refreshing honesty. Maybe that’s why Central isn’t the laughing stock anymore, why instead it is the guiding light. Maybe this once former bedraggled old mill town in the twilight of its existence now energetic and bustling should be the model for a state full of political hacks and towns in limbo. (This is the latest in a series of Tids “Throw The Bums Out” columns)

Is it just me, or were the Emmys last night the most boring program of the year on TV. If the tired humor didn’t make you groan then it was the ego parade predictable winners and the predictable winner’s antics. I was long gone before Fargo, one of my favorites, when it won for best Miniseries. Maybe that was a good thing, because my memories of the actors are still as they were in their roles.

Do you know which single person on this earth annoys me most? The President of Mexico.

The Question:
One of the many problems with a federally dominated government is that they tend to equate all as equal, especially when it comes to economics. But, in reality, what is poverty in one area is a decent living wage in another. For instance, let’s take the value of $100 state by state. Name the five states where $100 is worth least and the five where it has the highest purchasing power.

As I read about ISIS, Indonesia came to mind. Indonesia with over 204 million (88% of Population) nn the religion of Islam certainly must have within that mass a demographic  percentage, perhaps a significant one, of the terror group sympathizers. Bangladesh, has 174 million (90%) and Nuke Country Pakistan 184M (96%) . There are 177M Islam peope India but that is only 14% of the population. Interestingly, only 20% of Muslims are in Arab countries, meaning that they are spread throughout the world. (2.595 Million in USA). So when you read of atrocities by ISIS, and think “What me worry” it’s over there, it may just not be, as time goes by. Yes, Islam (Less strict) is the dominant religion of Casablanca.

Today’s “Word of the day” Sedulous. This means accomplished with careful perseverance; diligent in application or pursuit. i.e. “an impressively sedulous suitor, he was constantly sending her flowers and other tokens of affection.” Today he would be a stalker. Sedulous comes from the Latin Sadulo – sincerely. (Note to newcomers: “Word of the day” is an old Tids-Spot, which may be ready for revival).

Here we go again, the market is on a rampage through 2K for the S&P and over 17K for the Dow. And it’s all because a quasi-government institution held the line on a stimulus program. That doesn’t make you feel real positive about a future without stimulus. I guess you could say that the economy is perking along, with factories pushing out goods, and service sector industries abuzz. But then, just about the time the Pros return to WS, the official summer season will be ending and layoffs in the T&L sector will probably increase. Since 1950, the markets were right green heading into September 42 times, but only in 8 of those years did a positive market make out of dreaded September. It feels precarious this year.

I spent a big part of my career in an industry intrinsically significant to he US economy. I was doing ok until Japanese companies began to dominate and I got tired of trying to pretend that I liked Sushi.

Paul Ryan is already setting the stage for the 2016 campaign, saying: “A Clinton presidency would be an Obama third term.” Now, that sounds scary to the savvy, but not so much to the gimmie crowd. Some day the Repubs will learn that rational thinking only appeals to a minority of voters..

A reader writes to point out that in the looting of shoe stores in Ferguson, all shoes except work boots were taken.

The Question:
In Washington DC $100 is worth $84.60. The next 9 are Hawaii, NY, NJ, Cal, Maryland, Conn, Mass,  Wash, Va, Del Col and Ill. All the rest are over $100 with the best being Miss ($115, Ark, Mizzu, Ala, South Dakota, WVa, Ohio, Kty, Iowa, Neb, Kansas and Okla giving you the biggest bank for a buck.

For some strange reason people seem reluctant to throw out the scoundrels even as they witness a deterioration of their dreams through mismanagement and cronyism. Do they really believe that a bad situation can get worse if they hire through voting as their government managers, new, vibrant people with batter ideas and character? Or are we just at a point where too many people have become complacent because they think they are getting something for nothing, forgetting the sustenance of what’s positive in life.

Opening Stuff:

I was at a breakfast place yesterday and they gave me a paging dvice which I put in my pocket near my computerized car key and smartphone. When the order was ready, the pager buzzed, starting my car and sending my daughters an email. Ain’t progress grand.

The US taxpayer is paying about $156 Million a year to Federal “Employees” who only work for the Unions representing the various agencies – and do no USA people work at all.  The salary numbers are in addition to expenses for union activities and office space and supplies. The real cost, though, is in what is the main objective of the union rep existence, increasing the cost of government though wage increases and efficiency sucking work rules. At the IRS 286 full time employees perform only NTEU labor. At the VA there are 250 full timers working for 4 unions; Transportation – 35 Union only workers, some making over $170K; EPA - $1.6 Mil to Union only workers. The bigger a government gets, the more people who join in sucking on the teet.  And the tougher it gets to put in the breaks.

I think the Tids should have license to be more outrageous from now to November, just to keep up with the Politicians. There’s just one problem, unlike the Pols, The Tidster would feel guilty about disingenuousness.

Too many politicians advocate for too many laws and regulations to cope with the antics of a handful of idiots and irresponsible people.

After watching Rory McElroy for a few weeks now, I am positive that Nike needs a new clothing designer.

Collateral Damage, Department:
People who use their own grocery totes thinking they are saving the world from the evilness of plastic bags are probably putting themselves and children in jeopardy. Think of the zillions of germs that creep in from food like perhaps a package of chicken laying in them for twenty minutes or so in a hot trunk on the way home. Household hint: An open bag of puffy Cheetos, place in tote and absorb many of the little infectious germs. (Note: You have to clean out the orange on a regular basis)

The Tids Sports Department is hard at work evaluating teams, getting ready for a season preview and the predictions for Game One of the NFL’s new sissy season. It’s becoming hard to evaluate the full potential of teams now that being too rough is getting penalized at an ever increasing rate. It’s like the NFL has made a deal with MLB to make their games longer so that Baseball doesn’t look quite so boring to the less than rabid fan. The NFL is betting that its new appeal to the shallower of fans who only look for the glitter of a wide open offense as opposed to the intensity of the blocking and tackling, the battle in the trenches, the essence of championship teams. Oh well, I guess anything that is hard is passé.

I am generally against anything the Government mandates people to stop doing. (Note: Most of the stuff people aren’t suipposed to do was already n=banned in the ten Comandments)

In case you missed it, yesterday was Van Johnson day in Newport RI. Don’t worry, Van won’t hold it against you if you had something else to do. He was probably at the big the theater in the sky watching some of his 68 old efforts: Battleground, The Caine Mutiny, Action of the Tiger, Mother is a Freshman, Miracle in the Rain, Thirty Seconds over Tokyo, Brigadoon and Wives and Lovers. – which probably appeared pretty insignificant compared to his new surroundings. But I have to imagine that pleasant memories are a part of heaven too.

The headline read: “Why it’s tough to raise kids and save for retirement.” Well, if I may be so clichéd as to say “Duh”. Kids have been expensive even way before the current “I want everything now” era.  Saving means doing without in the early stages of family growth. It’s hard to do, but the dividends later are huge. It is an ultimate test of will power…and the “Joneses” will be watching you every step of the way!.

The Answer:
The four are “Bacon, Mac & Cheese”, “Capuccino”, Wavy Lays “Mango Salsa” and Kettle Chips “Wasabi to 24477”. I wouldn’t  vote for any of these. .. but then that’s why I’m a food gathering wallflower.

The kids will be weeping as the school bus arrives. But mons will be leaping and kicking their eels.  Actually, I always loved the first day of school It was the rest the year that got to me.

Opening Stuff:

Even with the Tids, a touch of reality must be considered as fall returns the vacationing pros back into the human race. New sports, TV, school programs and full bodied workforces all return to dominate the scene. Don’t forget the political races now getting serious. And of course, the stock community gets sane once again. The newest view here is that the events of the world crazies haven’t moved the needle down much. Which could mean that the economic basics are still relatively strong even after this protracted surge into uncharted territory. Logic would say that it’s time for a breather, a retrenchment. But, the engine is chugging. Maybe living in a state with no economy skews the eyes of this financial observer. I’m breathing a little easier now. Factories are doing well, and I hear that capital spending is still on a roll.

I’m beginning to believe that having a charge card at a major retail big box company is a stupid idea. Actually, the only solution against sudden financial and personal disaster may be paying in cash and turning off all appliances that talk to each other. And keep your clothes on.

All of a sudden, Elizabeth Warren (Sen, D-Mass) appears to be getting serious about becoming the Progressive darling candidate to Challenge The Hill for the Dem Nomination.

The wait is over. The Tids intrepid sports department, bleary eyed, is stumbling out out of their basement storeroom, ready with the First NFL picks of the year. At this time of year without current history, it’s hard to determine which games will be the tougher picks, so we only have a handful of posers: Oakland-Jets, Miami-NE, SF-Dallas, Indy-Denver, NY Football Giants-Detroit and SD-Ariz. I like Oakland to surprise the overconfident Jets and NE will pull one out away and in the heat of Miami. I am reluctant, but I’m giving Dallas a win, especially with some players missing at SF. The Broncs should beat Peyton’s old team in a close one and I believe Detroit is ready to start fast against a rebuilding Jints with a new offense. The mystery game to me is the Chargers and Arizona and I’m going with the Home team Cardinals. The rest are Seattle to begin its march to the SB over GB in a good start tonight. The rest of the winners are St. Lou, Chicago, Washington, KC, NO, Philly, Pittsburgh, Balt and Carolina. So, we’re off!!

Has there ever been a tougher job than picking out a paint color other than off-white for a room.

It’s time to look at TV for the fall (Note: Just learned that one of my favorite Spring Shows , Fargo, has been renewed for another crazy and intriguing season.) Among all of the new shows scheduled I can only find one, State Of Affairs that Intrigues me a lot. In it Katherine Heigl plays a CIA agent in a political drama; her job is assessing for the President the greatest threats to national security. She also has a sideline, which is hunting down the killers of her fiancé. After that I look at Debra Messing’s new light police show The Mysteries of Laura, NCIS New Orleans and perhaps Stalker, How to get Away with Murder, and Scorpian. I’m definitely going to give the quirky Gracepoint a chance. Some of the promos make me think that “Marry me” could be better than some of today’s sitcoms. The highly promoted Madam Secretary smacks of a Hillary campaign advertisement, but I’m really not watching the story of a super-Secretary because I’ve seen the trailers and it is just too outrageous and unbelievable. Forever, about a cop who never can die and always comes back nude, may be a little too much to take. However, both it and Madam could do well. Gotham has possibilities depending on how it looks at life before Batman. Selfie, The (Loudmouth) McCarthys, The Affair, Blackish, Cristela, Jane the Virgin, Manhattan Love Story, Mulaney (Stand up Comic theme) and Red Band Society are not on my radar screen for a number of reasons, a main one being that I have trouble relating to the new sitcoms. So all of you with young, open minds may want to give some of them a chance.

Frankly, I think they need subtitles for British movies too.

They picked the final 12 for America’s Got Talent last night and while watching I remembered why haven’t watched much this year. – the inane judges. Last night we had to suffer through some seriously unfunny sketches involving various panel members and the only word that comes to mind is Dreadful. But, now we have the talent which is very good, and I’ll suffer through the antics of the intruders to give you solid reports starting next week.

You can always tell how harsh the weather has been by how many times you have to replace a ragged grill cover.

This November it is all about the Senate as it is quite certain that the Repubs will hold the House minus 1 or 2 going over to the Dems. Any discussion about the Congressional races must start with Kentucky’s Mitch McConnell/Allison Lundergan Grimes affair where it is expected that $100 Mil will be spent. Currently, the Senate Minority Leader is ahead in the polls and the lead appears to be growing slightly. What is helping the old incumbent with his own low approval numbers, is that Obama is lower and a detriment to Grimes message. Personally I like McConnell. Nationally the chances of the Repubs taking the Senate range from 61% to 82% depending on the Polling and critical observations, with the NY Times being on the lower side and Washington Post slightly higher. With 62 days to go, the newest state by state polling has the Repubs gaining 6 seats and the majority of 51 against 47 Dems and 2 indies. It is miles to the finish, and I never count my chickens. I guess what amazes me most is that Al Franken remains so strong in Minnesota. In closing, I think the weirdness of politics could give us a draw. And, I think Mitch will win.

The Answer:
For TV, people like Under the Dome, True Blood, Big Brother, The Bachelorette and the Last Ship. The most popular celebs are Kate Middleton, Prince William, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lawrence and Beyonce. Right now, my favorite TV show is Extant which is soon to be extinct for the season, and I don’t ever have favorite celebrities.

I tried to close with something funny from Al Franken. But, I h=guess he’s just an unquotable comedian too. God help Minnesota and the US Senate.

Just the way the ball bounces.

Opening Stuff:

We are now deep into the process of building towards orgasmic delights for many addicted to USA cultural staples like Football, Politics and the new TV season. Not only does the football bounce unpredictably, but the fortunes of Pols and TV premieres are always affected by a similar disconcerting whimsy of voters and viewers. Well be looking at it all in the next two days.

The common theme among late night comedians on the hacking of nude pics of female celebs is that Kim Kardashian is thanking, and paying the hackers.

Do you somehow find yourself these days, as you walk down a city street looking over your shoulder for ISIS operatives, planning evasive tactics or outright surprise confrontation? I do. It must be my childhood comic book mentality at work.

Hearts are beating madly as the NFL season is poised to open. Tomorrow we have our first picks of the year. But first let’s look at the overview. The experts are picking Seattle again for the NFC, and in the AFC the NE Pats to be dominant with Denver close behind. The surprise favorite heartthrob for many sports scribes is San Diego. The NFC East is a tossup of mediocrity – are real bounce of the ball division. The Giants may come back if Eli can figure out the West Coast Offence. The other three need a lightning strike, with Wash the possible surprise. Also, I’m not real positive about the Central. Maybe, finally, Detroit pulls it together, but if not I’m seeing GB and daBears Battling. The South could send us a SB rep with NO looking stronger and Atlanta promising not to replicate last year’s disaster. Cam Newton keeps on getting better, putting Carolina in the mix. I think St. Lou will make the West competitive top to bottom, but the Seattle team still looks tops despite some chemistry fracturing moves. SF is deep and may pose a threat despite criminal activity among players. The experts think NE is far and away the best in the AFC east, but I’m seeing healthy competition from the other three _ Miami, Jets and Bills. Not a cakewalk for the Pats. Pitt may come back to duke it out in the north with Balt. Cinn is a threat, but Johnny F, isn’t the answer yet on the Lake Erie shore – unless Labron plays wide reliever and runs the ball. Now we have the South with Indy seemingly the fave because of the QB. Houston is a weak sister along with Jax. Tenn is the “If” team. Of course the threat for the AFC Title will come from the West, but this time Peyton is throwing to lesser known, fewer experienced receivers. But Fox is a good coach. I think that Oakland will be the big surprise in the west. I They are tough, and have added some better skill players. This is the division where according to the paper stats, any team can beat any other team. Will be fun to watch. Best bets fro Super bowl are Seattle, SF, NO in the NFC and NE, Denver and Oakland in the AFC. But then, the ball has yet to begin to bounce.

In tomorrow’s Tids we will look at the two other orgasmic delights, congressional races and TV premieres. Do you think you can hold off til then?

A thoughtful reader, who enjoys turning a good phrase himself, sends along this gem from a recent article in The New Republic about John Kerry’s diplomatic journey: “It’s a portrait of a diplomat with the skills and style, but not the success, of Inspector Clouseau.”

On a four day work week, is there day hump day? You could call this a Bactrian week, versus the normal Dromedary. If you didn’t already know, Bactrian camels have much more pleasant demeanors than one hump Dromedarys and are far better suited to working in both cold winters and very hot summers. So maybe we should go Bactrian in the USA – a four day work week.

Is Lech Walesa The Jimmy Carter of Europe?

Quick now, be honest, are you deeply concerned and paying attention to the Afghanistan elections which still appear to be undecided three months after the so-called voting.

I have to be honest with you, I’m not writing as much about the inadequacies of Barack Obama so much any more, because it is all over the press and in often very clever mass email offerings, and increasing on a daily  basis. To repeat it just means The Tids is losing its originality – a sacred possession of opiners.

The Answer:
1. Here’s the Top Twenty all time passing yardage leaders: Bret Favre leads the way with 71,839 (And I thought his fame came from retirement antics!). The rest in order are Peyton Manning, Dan Marino, John Elway, Drew Breeze, Warren Moon, Tom Brady, Fran Tarkington, Vinnie Testaverde, Drew Bledsoe, Dan Fouts, Kerry Collins, Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, Dave Krieg, Boomer Esiason, Donovan McNabb, Jim Kelley, Eli Manning and Jim Everette. Of all those the guys, those who were consistent championship winners are few – Elway, Brady, Montana, Johnny U and Kelley – and also include number30 in passing, Troy Aikman. You might also include Favre and The Manning kids. Note, Phil Simms (27) and the utterly disgusting Ben Rothlesberger at 24 could easily be considered in the winner’s category. I’m sure there will be disagreements. 2. The Ten Apples recommended for eating doesn’t include one of our family favorites, the Macoun: Braeburn, Cameo, Cortland, Empire Fuji, Gala, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Honey Croisp, Jonagold and McIntosh. Crunch!! For pears you have the delectable choice of Comice, “Butter” (How can that be bad?), Seckel, Anjou, Bosc  and Bartlett.  Stay healthy. I’m looking for pear shaped Cheetos for better distributed flavors.

How come the hottest days of summer are the first days of the month that’s supposed to be the advent for the beginning of the cooling down of Fall? BTW, the global warming gangs are already sending out press releases making excuses for the anticipated Polar Vortex winter. Since the time I had been a wee infant in a snow covered carriage, weather has changed.
