Today's Tids Issue 3,088
Opening Stuff:
I’m thinking that Thursday’s are a good night for the
NFL draft for by then I have generally used up all of the previously good DVR’d
shows. It’s another Popcorn night.
It’s possible that the Bulls are ready for a correction
as the Dow continues to hover around all-time highs. Is a growing “let’s get it
over with” attitude going to bring on again the bottle of Tums for the
beleaguered Main Street investor? I feel a tightening in my chest.
That drumbeat for taxing people on number of miles driven
is getting louder. Of course, one way to assure the folks pay this newest of “voluntary”
taxes is through GPS tracking! Yikes! The day that occurs is the day I begin
serious walking.
The Question:
A
new Non-Partisan Federal Report says Obama Admin not doing enough to shine spotlight
on aggressive persecution of Christians in Arab world. What do you think is the
percent of Christians in the Middle East today versus 2011? Bonus: Who will go frist in the NFL
draft?
The Headlines:

Word of the Day:
Hagiographical, as in a “Hagiographic Press” Some synonyms of the word are drooling,
slavering, slobbering, cloying, mealymouthed, sanctimonious. Hagiographic is
idealizing, idolizing a person as a saint. The Freedom of the Press addition to
the Bill of Rights was only intended to protect a press that would be the true arbiter
of the balance of power, against aa tyrannical government or smothering large
corporations and entities. The idea was to protect those who would speak out
against everything from inconsistencies to monstrous crimes against society.
The only agenda a press should have is that of enlightening the citizenry.
Hagiographic. I like it.
The name of a cat pushing a ball of twine up a
steep hill – Sysipuss.
Do you think 50 years from now that The NSL
(National Soccer League) will be producing the same kind of excitement we have now
for the all things NFL. With all of the negative push against little darlin’s
playing football, it is a distinct possibility.
There are some reports saying we will have temps
in the uppers seventies this weekend. Just in case you are tempted to cry in
anguish, “Global Warming”, just recall that two years ago we had temps during
the same May time period in the eighties. It happens.
The Golden Corral is advertising a $7.49
buffet meal where they will also buy you a first drink! When is GC coming to
Newport? You can laugh at an all you can eat buffet, but Golden Coral isn’t bad
at all. It’s great for vegetarians and gravy lovers alike. There are many who
miss out because they believe that only overpaying in restaurants can assure
quality.
Obama’s ratings are so low that
Kenyans are telling everyone that he was born in the USA.
We’re in that mysterious, “Not-a-moral-issue”
society. One of the victims is contempt of Congress.
Every time the Gov solves a societal problem,
the taxes lost by the solution forces the money addicted states and feds to
find new social ills to tax. Next will be FaceBook posts and Tweets.
Have you noticed how more and more the Government
likes using the word “Voluntary” when describing coerced taxation?
The Newport bluebloods would love a Newport “Slots”
with a flickering sign below hawking “The Golden Corral”.
There isn’t a person with a half a brain that
doesn’t understand that climate could be changing. It’s been changing for
millions of years from hot to cold to hot. Remember, Connecticut used ot be
part of Northern Africa. The earth is a moving changing entity. Always has
been. When the government fans the flames of crisis, it’s a form of extortion that
demands more of your money.
The Answer:
In
2011 25% of Middle East inhabitants were Christians. In just 3 short years that
percentage has fallen to just 10%. That is huge. Bunus; With all of the QB
talk, the top pickby Houston will
probably be Jadveon Clowney, a defensive end from South Carolina. The next four
could be Khalil Mack -OLB , Greg Robind=son OT, Sammy Watkins WR and Jake Matthews
OT. The big name QB’s will probably be taken around 11, 12 and 15 – Johnny Manziel,
Teddy Bridgewater and Blake Bortles respectively.
Is this the year that the Pats get serious about
replacing a Tom Brady who is entering the latter years of a great career,
planning his future as a male model? I’m thinking that Alabama’s AJ McCarron is
a Brady type thinker with a good arms and leadership skills. It’s like putting a
new dog into the family household when old rover’s body starts showing signs of
sagging.
