Today's Tids Issue 3,4213
Opening Stuff:
The
world can appear complex at times, but if you back
away you tend to find that it is really quite simple. The answer to just about
everything is chocolate. It rids you if tension, relaxes you after vigorous
numbing activity in work and play, compensates for frustration. If you’re mad,
it makes you happy. If you’re sad it makes you smile. If you are deflated it
energizes. Disparate world governments, republicans and democrats, union and
management will agree if there is a chocolate to be shared across the table. Red
Sox fans would root for the ya-ya-ya…well maybe not that. A first date meal
goes perfectly with chocolate at the end. A 60th wedding anniversary
is special when chocolate has been the glue over the years. Some will tell you
that humus is the elixir. But, don’t believe them. There is only one perfect
food, and it is chocolate. Sweet and dark and wonderfully succulent chocolate.
There
are artists who can draw well, and then there are
artists who create. There are no borders in art.

So,
last night we witnessed the finale of the America’s Got Talent.
While the judges went berserk over some less than great performances (To me) like
comedians and their so-called show stopping Regurgitator, I thought the best of
the night was the singing duo Craig Lewis Band. I was also amazed by Oz. How did
he do that? The biggest disappointment
was nice guy Derek Hughes who’s rope tricks were lame and his normally pleasant
humor was not firing. I like the little acrobat Uzeyer, and I was throughly entertained
last night with this injury forced performance. I also like a lot Benton Blount,
who sings the kind of music I like best. Piff can be catching and he manages to
entertain in a somewhat disjointed way. Gary Vider was lame, amnd I have
trouble listening to Drew Lynch. (Does that make me a bad person). I think Paul
Zirden and his puppets is a good act, and I like him The male judges were over
the top again with support of a comic, any comic, regardless of the
laugh-o-meter. Personally I believe the Howards were unfair (Especially Stern)
to several good to excellent performers in their overzealous support of their own
favorites, especially some pretty meager funnymen. The final Ten was in general
somewhat mediocre and frankly I would not pay to see any of them. I would vote
as #1 the CraigLewis Band, 2 Oz, 3 Paul Zirdin and 4 Brenton Blount. After that
I would rank them Piff, Uzeyer, Drew Lynch, Derek Hughes, Gary Vider and the
Regurgitator (Only becaue I never watched him so I really don’t know whether he
was bad or good or just unwatchable.

I
have committed myself to doing a talk on Pakistan.
Does anybody know anything about Pakistan? Where is it, anyhow?
Uh
oh, maybe the Mormons* are right. Kim Jung Il just
announced that he is ready to launch a nuclear attack on the USA.

Howard
Stern has somehow become famous because lots of people
seem to like the way he says boob.
The
Parking Lot: Chapter 14* continues…
*The
previous two episodes of The Parking Lot were mislabeled as chapter 13.
The faces
of the tribe were stoic as Jeremiah was paraded into the center of the camp
like tonight’s meal. His neck was painful, but all he wanted was to catch the
eyes of Elizabeth who stood rigid by the side of her father at the head of the community.
She was beautiful but here eyes seemed elsewhere. As he neared he tough he saw
a reaction in her face. Maybe he was only hoping that she felt his humility and
feared for his future.
His
nameless captor gave one more yank on the rope and he stumbled falling before
the feet of Joseph, his cheek scraping along the gritty soil. His hand went up to
loosen the binding rope. His neck burned now as the moist air hit the broken
skin. His eyes teared, but he knew he must be strong. Why wasn’t Elizabeth rushing
to his side?
He saw
her feet to his right near his hand. He looked up hoping she would be staring down
in disbelief over his treatment. He pushed down on his hands to raise up is
aching body, to stand tall as he always had in this camp. He was tall for his
age but no whwr h=enar the imposing height fo Joseph. “Joseph, what are you
doing, we are your friends. He turned, “Elizabeth…” He reached to touch her hand.
She looked down now. He heard a murmur from the crowd. His fingers started to open, and Elizabeth did
not move her hand away. Suddenly he felt Joseph’s gabbing his wrist and pulling
it away.
“Stand
still, Jeremiah,” he said in a low tone. “We will talk, but this is not the place.”
Joseph nodded to Red Shoes who had come up to the line of men and women in the front.
Take him to the tent and guard him.
Finally
Elizabeth turned. “Be careful and not wild like you can be. Trust me Jeremiah.”
He felt the warmth in his heart and loins.
