Today's Tids Issue 3,427
Opening Stuff:
Well
folks it’s the last day of summer, to sun drenched
tourists it’s certainly a bummer. Yet I find it as refreshing as clean white
steeple. This place looks better with far less people.
It
looks like 0-man will be joining the UN against
Congress. Doesn’t that sound a little un-American?
Celeb
Frank Zappa is known to for microwaving his hot
dogs.
The
Question:
One of my favorite all time movies is “Being There’
starring peter Sellers. Name five other Peter sellers movies.

A
rumor floating around DC says that Obama will endorse Biden
if Biden let’s 0-Man pick the Veep.
For
a little person with a barbecue, the steaks are
always high.
I
see where ESPN is lopping off nearly 300 employees. Must
be a result of their overdoing it with exaggerated bad reporting on flat
footballs.
On
a similar note, after last year’s game with the Pats,
The Ravens were whining about the creative legal formation used by the Pats
that surprised and confused Harbaugh. This season, the Ravens are using the formation
themselves. The Pats will move onto something new. And, the players will buy
into it. That’s what Belichick does.
Baseball
catchers know squat.
The
TV Season, Department:
--The Voice opened for another season yesterday with
a lot of enthusiasm and few pretty good talents. Of particular note to me were the
standouts Jordan Smith, Barrett Barber and the better than average Mark Hood
and Siahna Im. –“Dacin’…” also opened last night and Bindi Irwin and partner
Derek Hough Captivated. –The big new show of the night was Blindspot, and I
thought it was just ok. The heroes are a little too bigger-than-life. It seems
to have an interesting plot that will hold interest, but I may have problems
with the headliners, and the script.
Of
course, tonight the great old standard NCIS returns.
It’s always a good night when Gibbs and Tony join Ducky and Jimmy, Abby, Tim
and Ellie to solve military related capers.
So
I guess my observation yesterday that Ben Carson has
the potential to be a great unifier, didn’t include Muslims.
Have
you noticed the pattern that the media only ever drones
on endlessly about mistakes made by Repubs. Were they incensed about Benghazi? No. Did
they launch an investigation about potential nefarious funding of the Clinton foundations
and some misty quid pro quo Hillary State Department convolutions? No. Did they
investigate the true source of Obama religious and birth slander as being from
the Hillary camp? No. (Joe Scarborough made it public yesterday, of course
after the Tids had out there even earlier in the day.)
The
three worst cities for retirement are Newark and Jersey
City NJ, and Providence RI. The good news for Prov is that it is rated as very nice
place to live, but much too costly for fixed incomers. Now on the other hand,
JC and Newark are costly and not such hot places to live, with Newark being the
top crimes city.
The
Parking Lot: Chapter 16 continues
Beth was
looking at Jared, concerned, as he walked in with his new best friend Fred the politician.
Fred was joking now and asking Jared your basic getting to know you questions.
. Suddenly Fred spied somebody he knew -- Jared was sure he knew everybody in
the little place. So Fred gave Jared one more happy handshake and scooted off,
as Jared moved to a table near where Beth seemed to be serving.
He sat
and Beth came over immediately. “You know Fred?”
“Not at
all, I just met him in a near fender-bender, and he started turning on the
charm>”
At once
Beth seemed to relax. I saw the near miss, and I know how Fred can be charming.”
She blushed a little. “I was nervous when I saw the friendliness because I
think Fred is one of the guys giving Nancy a hard time.”
“Really,”
commented Jared who turned his head slowly to get a better look at the mayor or
whatever he was. “He’s quite the operator.” He smiled, “What’s his problem with
Nancy?”
“Lot’s. He’s
always had problems from Nancy. Nancy’s family has run this town in one way or another
for probably hundred’s of years. So, that’s one thing. Fred always felt a
little intimidated by the Family, and Nancy is the strongest of them all. You
know how families can get watered down over the years.”
“But,
that’s not all. There’s something going on with that casino deal you may have
read about down there in the big city.” Jared smiled at that. He liked Beth. She
continued, “I’m thinking from what Nancy has told me that Fred may be the point
man for the group that’s trying to woo the citizens here.” She took a breath. remember
those two big bozos who gave me the hard time. Well, more I thought about it the
more I think they’re part of the town’s new biggest problem.
“That’s
very interesting. You should be an investigative journalist.”
“Waitresses
know more than journalists.”
Jared
laughed, harder this time. Jared said to himself, I guess I don’t have to
appear nosey after all, Nancy has filled me nicely. “Someday, you’ll have to
fill me in more about the Family. Sounds interesting.”
“You want
coffes, or just talk.
“Coffee
and one of those sweet tings you guys make.” She smiled back and ran off. Jared
didn’t know why, but he was feeling pretty good.
The
Answer:
One of the first movies I ever remember seeing
with Sellers is “The Mouse the Roared. (Or did I remember it because of Jean
Seberg?) Some others are the Wrong box, Naked Truth, The Lady Killers, The
Millionairess, The Pink Panther series, Never Let Go, Dr. Strangelove, I’m All
Right, Only Two Can Play, Two Way Stretch and I’m all right Jack. I’m sure you
have many of your own favorites.
I
don’t what makes an atheist and atheist. But what I really
don’t understand is how relatively intelligent people who opt out of religion
and God don’t see all of the good stuff in the bible. Why they dismiss or don’t
realize how helpful that book is for any person striving in this world, for any
society that wants to survive without chaos, for any leader who chooses kindness
over intimidation.
