Today's Tids Issue 3,424
Opening Stuff:
Ok, the war is over for another few weeks. Who won? Was it the terrific, Incredible Trump, who seemed to be running out of adjectives when the other candidates started dealing with the facts? Technically, Carley won the debate, and surely by a wide margin the applause meter ratings. I’m just not sure she endeared herself with the people. A few smiles would help. Marco Rubio was another strong contender, as was Christie who I basically like. Most analysts were not impressed with Jebster, but I think he may have gained a little. Dr. Ben was very good but may have been drown out to the masses. Rand Paul sounded decent as did at times Scott Walker. In fact Walker made many good points, but he doesn’t seem to a have “It”. Huck put forth some very nice ideas. And Cruz didn’t lose any of his support. In fact everybody on that stage showed up with solid contributions for the war against a declining America. Except perhaps the wonderful, sensational Trump. And his numbers will not decline.
The
market gets Yellen today, and it may be her tone that becomes
more important than a hike itself. Like she may say she is against it but the
economy needs it, or that this is it for a long, long time. Her demeanor could
give the investors’ a sense of stability going forward, after what could be an
initial hit today. That is an initial hit today, after taking hits every six months
or so when the subject was repeatedly on the table. What woudld the bigs do without
rate Hikes to kick around anymore?
The
Question:
Who do you think are the Top Ten all time “Most Influential
People”…who never lived?

I’m
surprised that Howard Stern didn’t try to get onto
the GOP debate stage. That’s where many of the AGT Finals viewers may have
gone. The final five, in order in case you missed it, were Paul Zirdin, Drew
Lynch (?), Oz,The Regurgitator and The Craig/Lewis Band.
On
the other hand, Howard seeing how well big egos
perform on the political stage may have resigned from AGT last night to take on
the Hill.
The
general consensus among restaurant and other tourism
businesses around town is that he “Trophies for everyone” has finally caught up
with common sense responsibility of young people entering job markets. A
majority of business owners and managers have said they have never seen
employees before like the excuse making young people of this summer. “Late? I’m
late?” I don’t feel like I’m late.” It’s the entitlement culture, and it is
becoming disruptive in the workplace.
The
Tids pick ‘em Department was rolling along nicely til
Monday. Our final score was 11-5. Actually I made the mistake of taking advice
from “Experts” for my Monday picks. So,
around here the big game is Buffalo-New England, but there are several more
coin flips like Denver-KC tonight and later SF-Pitt, Atlanta-NYG,
Dallas-Philly, Seattle-Green Bay, Houston-Carolina and The Jets-Indy. Rex Ryan
says he has been planning for this for months. There is a lot of reasons the Pats
could lose -- O-Line, limited reliever corps, Buff “D” and stadium noise. I’m
picking Buff. Ouch! I gottta pick KC tonight and then Pitt to win with the
coach finally showing up, Giants to overcome embarrassing loss at home, The
Iggles to come back, GB to hold service, Carolina to beat up on suspect Houston
QB’s and Luck to get in win column. Mariota faces another young turk Heisman in
Manziel and the Tennessee rookie looks better already and will win. I’ve got NO
over TB, Arizona over the Bears, SD over Cinncy, SL over the Redskins, Balt
over Oak, Minn at home over a weaker-than-last-year Detroit and Miami over Jax.
Unfortunately,
CNN’s Jake Tapper tried to make Trump the center of the
debate (44% of the Q’s), and it probably just reinforced his strength with a
growing list of supporters. Even though “Fact Checkers” after the debate found
the Donald dead wrong on many of his pronouncements. Incredible.
BTW,
if your are keeping score, most observers felt that Lindsey Graham won the
junior debate. How silly is that, the junior debate.
One
of the funniest news reports I have read recently
says that a US Military commander reports that there are only 4 or 5 US trained
Syrians on the battlefield. This was supposed to be the centerpiece of the
Obama Tip-Toe-Through–The-Tulips war strategy.
Rick
Perry should be elected President just for having the
wisdom to step aside.
I
Googled, “Funny Presidential race jokes”. I got 34 jokes
about blacks.
The
Parking Lot: Capter 15.
Fred
Holhman looked in his rear view mirror, adjusted his tie and wiped the sweat
from his cheeks and neck. He threw another Tums into his mouth and crunched it
down into crumbled bits. He was on South Main Street in Providence parked a
hundred feet from an attractive small brick building. He opened the door,
stepped on the surprisingly clean street and tried to stand tall. After all, he
was the head of the Tiverton Twin Council, and he was needed by these people
The
first thing he noticed when entering the office of Sam Rackovic were two large
mean looking guys in decent looking clothes analyzing his every movement. Rackovic
stood with a big pasted on smile and a ready hand. “Mr. Holhman, so nice of you
to make the trip up North away from your comfortable rural community.” His eyes
shifted to the big two, “Meet Sam Jefferies and Jasper Conway.
“Jasper”
Fred tought to him self. He doesn’t look like a Jasper. He looks like a definite
Bruno. Fred smiled at the twosome, but they barely moved lips saying in a
mumbled voice, “Nice to meet ya”.
They were
like ventriloquists Fred decided as he followed Sam’s not so gentle order to
“Sit!”. He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a pen and a letter
sized white paper folded in thirds. He wrote a date at the top.
“You
won’t need to take notes, Fred. We don’t like notes. We just like to talk and
listen. Don’t you agree that is a good idea?” Fred Nodded, and he felt his
stomach rolling. Steady, Freddy –boy, he thought.
The
Answer:
Number 10 is Santa Claus. Then in order up to #1 we have Barbie, Robin Hood,
“Cowboys”, The Marlboro Man, Rosie the Riveter, Daedalus and Icarus, The Little
Engine that Could (My personal favorite), Big Brother (No Not the TV show but
1984) and #1 – Romeo and Juliette. Ah love, is the dream.
So, lets’ finish it up with a little love. That’s
what the GOP would like! http://www.nbc.com/americas-got-talent/video/yolanda-adams-and-the-craiglewis-band-i-want-to-know-what-love-is/2906917
