Today's Tids Issue 3,586
Opening Stuff:
I’m
beginning to think that millennials aren’t as crazy as
they appear. Oh yeah, many of these anything go era denizens see culture and
morality in a way that I think is not so hot for a sound society. But they also
understand a new future based on technology, which could be incomprehensible to
me and many. They may be right about bringing speed and efficiency to daily
living, but do I really need to get out of my rocking chair and race along with
them. I tip my hat to their brains, but to their Judgment, not so much.
I’m
a big believer in “The Pendulum swings the other way”
philosophy. Reasonable people have avoided the abyss thousands of times over
the centuries with patience and that come back to sensitive reality concept.
Over-reaction is not a natural part of the process.
Who’s
to say that elephants don’t enjoy performing in Circuses
and hearing the applause?
Iraq
and Iran, Department:
Or
something to chew on on a rainy day.
Just when you think ISIS is being routed, they
move the battlefield. Now they are disrupting Iraq at it’s core, just as “Allies”
prepare a Mosel counter attack. There ain’t no pendulums in the Middle East. –
Iran is also a potential mystery. I’m hearing as you are the movement to a
reformist controlled government with Presidential elections on the horizon.
But, what we haven’t heard yet is the voicw of Khamenei, The Supreme Leader.
Yet I know that The SL has meet with several Reformist leaders. So he isn’t talking,
but he his thinking and the country is waiting. And here’s a hooker, Khamenei’s
Grandson is a reformist. So…! While Rhouani is doing what it seems the rest of
the world wants, and apparently to the satisfaction of the people, we haven’t
heard yet from those losing power, the hard core, who are probably waiting for
Khamenei. The man behind the curtain And they are still there. How disruptive will
they be? There might be a pendulum in Iran.
The
Question:
In which city and when do you think the First USA
Medical College was started? Extra Bucks

I
was forced to watch the Red Sox and Ya, Ya, Ya…well
you know who I mean…on ESPN Sunday night. What a disaster that broadcast was. I
watched 3 batters and switched to local radio. The announcers were oblivious to
the players and action on the field; talking among themselves in an inane conversation,
like they were seated at a bar out on Yawky Way. Deplorable.
The
rise of Independents in the USA to nearly 50% of voters
may be all that is needed for one of the Parties to deliver a Third Party candidate.
The DNC chairman announced yesterday a desire in the future to exclude
independents from their primaries. In other words they don’t want voters determining
their candidates.
The
Voice was ok last night. The first three singers,
Daniel, Shalyah and Nick were lackluster to me, though Nick was definitely a
good performer. The judges continue to rave about Shalyah, maybe because of her
age and twinkling personality, but she is below par as a singer. Long legged
personality rich Hannah pushed the competition back up, and woke me up. Laith
is a great singer and an even greater guitar player. But the also bearded Adam
Wakefield, who closed out the show, is also a great singer and remarkable piano
player. To me, he was the top entertainer of the night. Alisan did her thing
which always a level above rest with a sad song about the sadder times in her
life, but still with the beautiful emotional voice. Actually it didn’t move me.
Mary Sarah dove right into the hearts of the Country music lovers wth Stand by
Your Man, and was good; although she had noticeable problems in the lower
range. Paxton rose to the occasion also and I thought was one of the more
enjoyable performers of the night. Brian Bautista is a very good singer and he
went very Latin America last nght and made
it work in a light sort of way. Now, there is no doubt that Daniel P should be
axed. If he makes it, then we know we have the same voting problem there as we
have in the Presidential primaries – they ain’t voting with their brains. I’d
put Shalyah and Daniel in the bottom two, but some may add Nick.
At
this writing, The Voice-ITunes sales leader among
performers was Alisan at #6. The rest in
order are Laith #12, Adam #16, Mary Sarah #20, Hannah #23, Brian #36, Paxton
#42 (He also scored from last week’s song), Nick #96 and Shalyah #99. (Mary
Sarah and Laith also had holdover sales from the previous week.
I
think fashion models get paid way too much.
But
then, so do Athletes and NFL commissioners.
Apple’s
high stock price has been held in high regard because of its
potential explosive growth. They have fulfilled promises for years. But, now
CEO Tim Cooks appears to have a strategy of doing it with PR instead of
products. I still say, that having but 20% of the World phone market they have
plenty of opportunity. The problem is that they haven’t appeared to prove that
they know how to get there. Doubters are growing.
When
the Red Sox don’t play, there’s not much to read in the
morning newspapers.

“Spam”. I find that many reputable mass mailings end up there from time to time.
Did I say “Reputable” in the same sentence with Tids?
A
Golf GPS App I downloaded to my phone wants me to
put my scores on FaceBook! Are they kidding! Is that giant social network open
to adopting the same policy of TV News that people are drawn to disasters? If
my scores are out I public, how am I going to properly define my scores to
friends and competitors. Is there going to be another app that captures fish
sizes and urges fisherman to show measurements to the world? See millennials
don’t get it at all. They want to get rid of fish stories and golfing exaggerations.
Where’s the fun in that.
Do
you think Kenya has a building inspecting problem
when a rain storm takes down a 6 story building. Sounds like the same inspector
we have here for road construction.
I
see where “Fitbit’s” stock price is down after a falling
sales report. Really, who want to wear a bracelet that keeps on telling you
that you are fat? See, even techno-Millennials will also over time tire of conforming
to the needs of a bracelet.
The
Answer:
The first Medical College was established in 1765
in Philadelphia at what is now the University Of Pennsylvania. Sorry Boston. Extra Bucks Bonus: I only pay extra
bucks for questions where the odds for a chance for a right answer is 5000-1.
1802 could be considered foreboding because that was the day when Washington DC
was established.
Uh-oh
–
Leister City in England had a 5000-1 chance to win the prestigious Premiere
Soccer league, and they won it. The people are joyous, and drunk.
Pendulums
swing.
Trends die.
