Today's Tids Issue 3585
Opening Stuff:
For
all of its quiet beauty and comfortable emergence
back into warmer days, May is one crazy month. For many it is celebrated as the
Month of Mary, Mother of Jesus, and for sure all great mothers across the world.
And, it also kicks off with “May Day”, the godless secularist holiday in honor
of Communist emptiness and pre Christian pagan flower god festivals. It’s the
old and the new, with hoof beats at the Derby and roaring sophisticated engines
at Indy. It’s time around here of May Sunday breakfasts, with Johnnycakes and
other good eats, and community gatherings. But, to me it is a happy month, a
soft month, a time when life should feel, like a soft, warm blanket. I think I’ll
go out and see what new flowers are blooming…in May…as they say!~
At
times I sit listening to a symphony wanting to re-write it.
Not that I have a clue about music and how I would accomplish that. It’s all
about my emotions and where I want the music to take me. Sometimes a composer
brings me there and then there are times I can sense a better direction. Often
it is the conductor who doesn’t seem to get the intent of the composer. It’s
not unlike an author who should be bringing you to the places that should
resolve conflicts or satisfy hungers. An author builds a premise and carries
you to an ending. When I write these novels, I feel the story pulling me into
new directions all of the time. And hope the words and movement of emotions can
be equally compelling to the reader. I feel the same thing when listening to music.
Will I be out of breath at the crescendo, or feel lacking, hoping for more.
I
just finished a new writing course on conciseness. It
didn’t work!
There
are times when in a room watching a slow download to my
computer, I get up and open the door to let in a greater digital stream. You
can feel it.
The
melting pot is good when all the ingredients work…well…together.
The
Question:
Who are these people? Burt Young, Allan Arkush and
Anushka Sharma. Bonus: Ignite the spirit,
shout fire! Who said these “Fire” Quotes? “You may fire when you are ready, Gridley.”
“Don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes.” “Music should strike fire from
the heart of man, and bring tears from the eyes of woman.”

A
lot of people rush out to start planting flowers, but
up here it is often too cold to feel comfortable planting until about May 17.
Yes 17! Not 16. Not 18.
Too
many protesting agitators only view Freedom of Speech and
Right to Assembly from one direction. They have no credibility in my eyes,
regardless of their agenda.
Sign
in a Texas restaurant: “Anyone with a CHL gets 10% off
their BBQ.” In case you don’t get it, CHL is “Concealed Handgun License”.
EeeeeHah! Do you get the impression that there is a big difference between
Texas* and California. (*Except Austin)
It
seems at times like we have two types of industries in America.
One is led by innovators, creators who often sacrifice, take risks to better
civilizations. The other is comprised those who lie in wait ready to pounce
with legal action on any mistake, real or perceived.
I
get irritated when companies end ads and commercials
saying, “Like us on Facebook.” It sounds like the “participation trophy” syndrome
moving into business.
People
who tear down monuments have no courage.
In
my quest for “Fire in quotes, I came across tis
one from Bruce Lee, which I think says something special: “Love is like a
friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and
fierce, but still only light and flickering. As we’ve grown older, our hearts
mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable”
A
leader of the Syrian community says in reaction to
Trump’s warning – “Lock the doors, the Syrians are coming.” –, this to his constituents,
“Lock the doors against Trump supporters.” He goes on to say to these Syrians
in the community, vetted for two years before entry, “If any of you are harmed,
we will sue Donald trump for agitating and inspiring riots”. There are two
sides to every story.
Did
you hear about the Aardvark who could only sleep well
after taking ant acid before going to
bed?
Do
some artists go into abstract art because they have a
good sense of deign but can’t draw?
RCP
has Trump 39.1 to Cruz 35.0 to Kasich 17.3 in
Indiana. (In two days,– Trump went up 1.6 points and Kasich 2.3 points, while
Cruz went down. There are some polls being reported by conservative sources saying
Cruz is 14 points ahead of Trump. The games go on.
The
Parking Lot: Chapter 58 continues…
Fred was
feeling better now than he had in nearly a month. He had always feared the power
of the Howlands, but now he was seeing them as average people who get nervous when
they don’t know how to get what they want. Maybe Nancy really is the more
powerful. Maybe Howland knows something I don’t. Maybe Nancy isn’t telling me everything.
“Just kidding,
Tom. I know you and your family have always been the most important around here,
so I figure if you aren’t interested in something, it isn’t important.”
Old
Howland seemed to relax a bit, “No wonder you are our most successful politician!”
He laughed pretty heartily. “You know, Fred, my family has been so important here
for so long, I never paid much attention to whom the rest of the people voted
for. Does that sound arrogant? Well then, I’m an arrogant son-of-a-bitch!” Now
Fred laughed.
Fred
decided to press a little harder. So, Tom, why do you think all of that
gorgeous land in our Northeast has remained so pristine all of these years?”
“History,
Fred. History. But, history does not last forever.”
Fred scratched
his head and smiled at that answer, but ole’ Tom didn’t go on to elaborate. But
he thought he got Tom’s drift. Fred decided to leave Nancy out of the
conversation until the next time. “Sure you don’t want a drink, even though it’s
still early?”
“Waddaya
got, Fred.”
The
Answer:
Burt young is a pretty accomplished character
actor, with perhaps his greatest role as Pauli Pennino in Rocky. You have seen
him in numerous movies and on TV, But many of have never seen his art which is
on display around the world. Allen Arkush is a TV, Film Director, Producer
known for TV’s heroes, Fame, Twilight Zone, St. Elsewhere, Parenthood and Ally
McBeal among many others. First of all, Anushka Sharma is rated as the number
one most popular person in the world named Anushka! In fact, she is an up and
coming Indian Actress best known for her role in Ladies Versus Ricky Bahl. The
28 year old beauty is also known as #7 best known movie star from India. Bonus: “…Gridley” was said by Adm. George
Dewey, during the Battle off the Philippines in the Spanish American War. Gridley
was the Officer in charge of the ship’s guns. “Whites of eyes” is attributed to
Gen William Prescott at the Battle of Bunker Hill. Others say that Colonial General
Israel Putnam, also at BH, said those words often. “…Tears from a woman” quite
was by Ludwig von Beethoven.
Robert
Frost sounds like he would be on the fence in the current
argument about Global Warming: “Some say the world will end in fire, some say
in ice.”
As
the world gets more and more historians, history will
change simply because there are more and more historians.
Well,
the Communist-Socialist part Of May was over yesterday. So the rest is just all
about romping with lovers in fields of flowers waving in soft warmer breezes.
Enjoy it.
