For Standing Tall:
For
some reason, I have found myself eating a lot of beef this
week. Then I’m thinking, why am I telling you this. It tastes great, and even
better when smothered in some kind of rich sauce. Some days you just got to
pull up to the Tids table with an open mind for a great meal, regardless of the
naysayers.
Syria
is a true enigma. Bombing Assad today could be seen as
starting a war with Russia and Iran. I don’t think we want to go to war with Russia
and Iran.
Contrary
to the apparent opinions of more and more drivers, roads
are not video games.
How
much compassion do you think will be forthcoming from
the new IRS private collection agents who get 25% of the take? What’s next, The
Rack?
Yesterday,
the attendees at the Woman of the World conference,
awaiting an appearance of The Hill, booed and ridiculed Nikke Haley as she
explained the critical situation in Syria. It made those so-called serious
women look pretty petty booing a UN ambassador who is facing down Russia and
Syria in what could be an enormous world problem. But, Haley never cowed to the
constant badgering, looking far stronger than any of the activists in the
audience. WoW founder Tina Brown rose to praise the courage of NK, and
admonished the boisterous behavior of these apparently uninformed and
misinformed, don’t care about anything but me ideologues. This is in fact, a
classic example of why today’s opposition-at-all-cost politics makes so little
sense in a dangerous world where common good is so much more important than
singular objectives.

Motley
Fool has published 7 myths about the rich: 1. They live in
large houses and drive expensive cars. Most of those considered rich live
modestly. 2. Rich people are happier because they are rich. Adding money to the
mix does not improve happiness after a state of modest financial security has
been achieved. 3. A wealthy Lineage explains why the rich are rich. 60% are self-made.
20% are inherited wealth. 4. Investment bankers make up the vast majority of
the rich. They are rich, but 81% of the rich are from other occupations. 5. Most
rich people went to Ivy League Schools. 96.5% of the world’s superrich did not
go to Ivy league schools. 13% do not have a college degree. 6. Rich people don’t
work that hard for their money. In a study, 86% of rich worked 50 hours per
week versus 57% of the poor. 65% of the rich had 3 revenue streams while the of
poor only 6% had more than one. 7. Rich people never go bankrupt. Lot’s of the classic
rich (Especially celebs) have spent more than they earned. So basically, for
all of you who have reached a state of happiness, and find the arrival of
mountains of additional cash disconcerting, send it to the Tids retirement Fund.
I
think it is insane to play night baseball games
in April in the North. Not good for fans, pitcher’s arms and batter’s hands.
On
a similar note, “Down with Amazon” for stepping up with
big money to sponsor “Thursday Night NFL Football”. How can an NFL management who
publicly state they are very conscious of the health needs of players think 3 days
rest is a good idea? The only good news is that teams now have the option of
not wearing those horrendous “Color Rush uniforms by Nike. I don’t need uniform
intrusion to make games interesting.
Larry
King said that Trump is among the “most ridiculous” of
presidents. That’s a pretty serious accusation because LK is well known as one
of the best ass-kissers in the business.
Many
leftists, which
includes much of the media are saying that Trump has got to stop
blaming Obama for all of the problems facing his admin. Um, didn’t 0-Man spend
8 years blaming Bush? I think he did. But, personally, I think the Trumpster would
be much better off just stating the facts about any given serious situation,
and forgetting his add-ons about Obama or democrats or media. It just waters
down whatever convictions he may have. Obama looked weak for not taking full responsibility
too.
This
is one of those days when I could have sent this thing out
an hour and a half ago, but I got interested in too may news side stories. One
was about the potential demise of H&G’s Fixer Upper, as JG is all hot and bothered
about her new cosmetic line. H&G came down hard on the popular duo (JG was
showing up late at construction sites) and that infuriated the now perhaps too-famous-for-their-own-good
couple (well, at least the lovable Joanna). She may be a great entrepreneur,
and her new product maybe excellent, but she’ll never have the exposure she is getting
now on H&G. Unless of course a new “Fixer Upper Makeup” channel hits the
airwaves.
BTW,
the Nikke Haley Tidlet above was another news diversion.
The
Answer:
Roy Thinnes is an actor who came into prominence with
a TV role in the late sixties as Architect
and Alien fighter David Vincent in The Invaders. Thinnes was many short-lived
TV series and one shot episodes of popular series – his longest probably his 36
weeks on Falcon Crest. Barry Levinson was a prolific director of many excellent
films. His first big hit was probably Diner. Others include The Natural, Good Morning
Viet Nam, Rain Man, Bugsy and Wag the Dog. This guy started as TV comedy writer
and won the Oscar for Rain Man. Patrika Darbo is one of those consummate
character actresses who you have seen in many TV shows and several movies. She attempted
to gain momentous for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for the film “Daddy’s
Dyin’. Whose got the will” She starred as Roseann Barr in the TV film “Roseanne
and Tom behind the Scenes.” She spent 7 years on “Days of our lives”, where she
won a couple of Emmy’s
I
had great intentions this morning, but all of that beef must
be affecting my energy levels.
