For Dreams into reality:
Is
there any better medicine than laughter? No, says a lot of docs.
It seems that if they knew how, a majority of doctors would prescribe it as an
amazing health benefit. Take two aspirin and read a joke book before bed. I basically
have replaced all Health food with yucks. It goes down better.
Last
night the Commissioner of Baseball was in Boston to watch
the Sox ballgame and discuss speeding up the game. Last night the Sox and Blue
Jays played a 6-hour 19 inning marathon. Yawn.
The
Daca decision is one of many conflicting
complexities, from questions about true freedom for the helpless to cries in the
extreme for borderless globalization to significant economic impact. But, the central
issue is human. Emotions rule the airwaves and public squares, but questions of
reality go unanswered. Where have these children been since Daca? In limbo,
that’s all. A place that’s appears safe but has no promise for a future.
Yesterday’s decision may force several issues, like the most important one,
finding a way to citizenship, and clamping down forever on illegal entry into
the USA. These poor little dreamers are held hostage by social propagandists
who want everybody to have everything regardless of laws and a need for an
ordered society. It is sad, truly sad,
that good innocents are being targeted because of the actions of their parents,
perhaps misled or not knowing, but still here in violation of laws. Should we
instead be deporting those groups who promoted such lawlessness, who said to
those beleaguered souls, “Hop aboard and take a free ride to America?”? How
much should we be fining employers who looked the other way? So, I look to yesterday’s
decision as a positive move forward, which some would rather not appreciate and
certainly not applaud, but hopefully someday waken to the realization. The good
news is that the issue has been met, and when the crying and shouting is over there
may be a good chance for real solution so to a situation that should never have
occurred. Who doesn’t love children? Who doesn’t want a better word for
all. Just don’t tie “The Wall” to the
discussion.

Right
now we are in the midst of the wind down of the AGT
competition. As I said last week, there are away too many singers in the show,
and last night they gave us six more. Personally, I don’t like Yoli Mayor even
though her voice is good. Subway Mike Yung is good as is Johnny Manuel, but I
wouldn’t pay to hear any of those three sing. I think That Evie Clair was very
good last night. I like her voice an delivery. And then there is singer-songwriter
Chase Goehring who already has a good career ahead of him. I didn’t think his
tune last night was as good as others, and I have to say there is a bit of
sameness creeping in. Enough said about singers. My two favorite acts last night
were Darcie Lynn Farmer who I would vote to win the whole thing, and the
amazing Gospel Choir “Greater Works”, the wonderful energetic group who just bring
huge smiles to faces, including mine. (Oh, Darcie, as a bonus, is also the most
entertaining singer of them all.) I would pay to see those two. Sara and Hero
the dog act is fun and certainly livens up the show. Preacher Lawson has a great
delivery, but his lines aren’t always that funny to me. (Howie laughs at any
comedian) But the Preacher is enjoyable to watch. The roller skating Bro-Sis
act – Billy and Emily England -- do dangerous things, but I’m actually tired of
it. But I’m not tried of Eric Jones the Magician. His patter was better last night
and his tricks pretty mystifying. So, who goes on to the finals? Well, Darcie
is a shoo-in and Greater Works should be. They would be part of my five moving
on which would also include Eric Jones, Evie Clair, Chase and Sara and Hero. At
least, that is the way I would like to be entertained during the finals. But, I
expect that Preacher and one of the singers like Johnny M or Mike Yung will be
there, beating out Evie and Sara. New generations know singers.
A
lot of people may be interested in that story of the 7-year-Old
Girl pulling out of a lake called Dozmary Pool Bodmin Moor, Cornwall England a
sword that eerily resembles “Excalibur”. It’s the same lake into which legend
tells us that King Arthur threw his mighty sword. “It was just lying there”
said the young girl. This could be the coolest tale ever as kids’ dreams of
days of yore come alive. Can a return to Chivalry be far behind? Actually, as I
look around, yes, way far behind. Just think, King Arthur, Sir Galahad, a
legend no more.
There
is a big difference between defending the Constitution, and
using the Constitution.
Jobs
don’t equal jobs. The good news they say is that all
those retail jobs economists expect to be lost will be replaced by jobs at big
eCommerce distribution centers. Those are jobs, as in packing boxes for shipment,
will pay better than most retail situations, but, you are packing boxes.
Young
people like to deride oldsters for not being with it, while
more and more of them are covered with facial hair reminiscent of the 19th
century.
Laughing
at an “F-Bomb” comedian does not necessarily constitute
good humor.
The
Answer:
The first “Self Service” grocery store opened in
Memphis Tennessee in 1916. It was Piggly Wiggly. Who Knew! Bonus: If you are not a US citizen you can’t vote, bring family members
into the country, travel on a US passport, become eligible for Government Jobs or
Become an elected official. There many other benefits. The responsibilities are
first, obey all of the laws of the USA, (Hmmmm). Citizens have to defend the Constitution,
swear allegiance, give up all prior allegiances, register and vote, serve on
juries, have tolerances for differences.
