For Others:
The
swirling winds refresh my morning face. While raging others
destroy someone’s home place. It isn’t really fair. I feel it deep in there. I
care.
Trump
should stop with the belittling of Obama, and other old
washed-up democrats.
Happy
Darci Lynn Farmer day!
iPhome
8 just brought out minimal improvements, and iPhone 10 is
really expensive. Do you think that Apple may have opened the door for others like
Samsung which is already number 1 in the world and smaller but capable tech companies
like Motorola and even an emerging Google with its new deal with phone maker HTC?
Do you think they are all scrambling to take advantage of the leader who may
have stumbled just a bit? Has anybody seen Microsoft?
By
the way, it’s Happy Rosh Hashana week. Say it with a smile to
a Jewish friend.
There’s
a lot more to the North Korea mess than what is typically
revealed in the sensational headlines of the day. People with real knowledge talk
of dumping NK from the UN because of their repeated violations of the treaties
that stopped the original Korean War fighting. No country has ever been kicked
out by the UN. The thinking is that this would put pressure on Russia and China
to make a decision for the rogue potential killer of human kind, or to side
with and the rest of the world where they want trade.

The
Old Tids Sports department is now 24 and 7 (77%) after the
first two weeks. Since half the league is now on injured reserve, it could be tough
in the pickin’ place from now on. There’s some good posers this week. Most
intriguing is the old rivalry -- Iggles versus NY Football Giants. You have to
go with Wentz over a tired looking Eli with no O-Line. Jax-Balt are both hard
to figure so that makes this a tough Pick. I personally like Jax, Minn and TB
could be very exciting, but I’m liking Winsted to help the Bucs pull one out.
The Bills have been playing tough, but not tough enough to beat the Broncs and there
QB out of nowhere. I’m seeing Atlanta against Detroit as another war. I have to
give the team on a mission the nod. Indy is bad and Cleveland is also not
making fans happy. I think the Browns are tougher and will win. I’ll keep picking
them until something happens. East meets West in another good matchup. I still
like Oakland over The Skins. Of the rest I have Rams over Niners, Panthers over
Saints, Steelers over da Bears, Dolphins swimming past the Jets, Titans over
Seahawks in a pretty good QB matchup. Chiefs over the Chargers, Pack over
Bennies and the Cowboys hitting their stride over the Cardinals. My team the Pats have lost a lot
of players but they will find away against the Texans. Will be a close one.
Actually,
I paraphrased Buffett yesterday when I said “Economic pessimists
are out of their minds.” He really said, “Whenever I hear people talk
pessimistically about this country, I think they are out of their minds”. My
stock portfolio wanted to say what I wrote.
Of
course, the old Wizard has about $50+ Billion, which typically
helps with optimism.
Except
of course a 2013 NJ Powerball $328 million winner who is
now facing up to 40 years in jail for child sex abuse.
When
asked why a man was donating is organs to science
after he died, he replied, If I donated them before I died it would kill me.
Tough
Parenting: Philippine’s Prez Duterte has ordered the police to
kill his son if drug smuggling rumors are true. Kim Sees opportunity for first ally.
Michael
Bloomberg can be quite likeable, but I still have a lot of trouble believing
anybody who thinks taking away a population’s soda pop is a good idea. . That
just speaks of an average man too easily swayed by hysteria.
The
increasingly common headline, “(Name Your democrat)
slams Trump,” is not news nor worthy of headline status.
The
idiocy of the times. A woman wrote to the newspaper saying
she will not watch the local NBC station anymore because they say nice things about
Trump. That is the problem, isn’t it. People are annoyed by any truths that
affects their passions. So, they would rather be lead astray than have all of
the facts at their disposal ot make considered decisions.
In
case you missed it, the top five in last night’s AGT final
were the thoroughly entertaining Darci Lynn Farmer, followed by Angelica Hale,
First Light, Mandy Harvey and Sara and Hero. That small directional survey I
reported yesterday had the top 4 in order.
The
Puerto Rican Electric Power company is in deep trouble now because
they never made investments over the years as they should have. It sounds remarkably
similar to Rhode Island where the local bureaucrats beholden to people other than
the citizens squandered money allocated for continuous road and bridge
maintenance. That led them to creating a convoluted plan to make the infrastructure
safe. Meanwhile the Union owned state legislature just keeps on making the sate
tough for business and expensive to taxpayers.
Did
you see this note posted on the White House website
by a Latino Man: “I’m terrified that Trump is going to deport my mother-in-law
who is here illegally and lives at 1851 Third Street, Los Angeles 90023 – blue house
on the corner, she gets home at six”.
I
was thinking this morning as I stood in the heavy breezes
, about how winds can refresh or destroy, depending on where you are. I thought
back to a home I had in Connecticut that was built in 1778. While others were
fighting and dying in the Revolutionary wayrso that this house could stay safe,
others were going about their business as if nothing was happening around them.
I don’t know what that means, but there must be some big idea in there,
somewhere.
The
Answer:
You had to know it was the Texaco Star Theater. Bonus: Raymond Burr was everybody’s
favorite as OM in 1957. Super Bonus:
It was 1970 on ABC.
While
we are doing what we do, somebody you know or a stranger you
might like knowing could be facing some incredible hardship you would never
want. I like to stop a moment and think of others just because something is always
happening, where a soft shoulder real or imagined is needed. I call it my Other
moment.
