Today's Tids Issue
# 4 – 0 – 0 – 0.
For Accomplishment:
Well
folks, I’m still living and still writing after approximately
4,384.037 words, 12,004 typos and enumerable questionable grammatical
variations. But, I always had this thought that writing was for the expression of
discovery and the creation of new ideas, that some rules were just there to get
you started. But regardless of my contempt for English teacher guidelines, I
love what I do, and I forgive all of those teachers who gave me “D’s”. I hope
that occasionally my words are clear enough to get through to you, to give you
a little info, make you laugh and occasionally inspire you. I talk about a lot
of things and try to always see a brighter light filtering through the world
morass. And I always find the best in love and romance, the yearning of hearts,
and caring in souls. And, of course in all of you. Thanks. So, now it’s onto 5K,
which should occur around 9-11-2021. Crazy
Poaching
elephants and rhinos really bothers me. Let the beasts live
without fear for a few decades.
After
all,
I really like the idea of dinosaurs like me living in peace.
The
NFL pretends to care about the health of their players, but
fully supports players playing on Thursdays well before they have even ceased licking
their wounds from the previous Sunday. The players hate it. I hate it. But the
cash registers at 345 Park Avenue love it.

When
pulled over by a policeman who then asks, “Sir, your eyes
are red, have you been drinking?” You should never respond, “Officer, your eyes
looked glazed. Have you been eating donuts?”
Personally,
I
have to set my smart phone to “Dictionary.Com” before reading modern day
restaurant menus.
How
utterly insane was it for President Trump to go on a rampage
dumping on Senator Franken with juvenile tweets. All he did was reawaken the
Billy Bush tape and remind some woman why they didn’t like him. Not funny, and
certainly not smart.
This
will be interesting. While the Trump admin puts right leaning
judges on the benches across America, George Soros is funding a new initiative
to elect left wing Prosecutors. Court TV will become a huge hit with a
potential for drag out fights.
Could
it be that young Austin Cook will be the phenom of
choice on the PGA tour next year, and all of the 25-year-old timers will be
struggling to remain relevant! It’s a new world, everywhere.
So,
you don’t think there is a enough money in the world. The Da Vinci
Painting that sold for $450 Million last week, was sold at auction in 1958 for
$60, then $80 and finally $125.00. Prices are getting higher for a lot of stuff
in some measure because some people with more money than they need don’t seem
to care how much they pay for anything. Yes, money is trickling down, to
employees of auction houses and luxury car dealerships.
There
are just way too many instant replays in all sports broadcasts
these days. And far too many ticky-tack penalty calls on the fields and courts.
$125
to $450 Million in 59 years! Actually, there was a reason
for the dramatic increase. At that time in 1958, experts believed the painting
had been the work of a Da Vinci follower. But, in 2017 a conservator Dianne
Dwyer Modestini decided to remove layers of paint to discover it was in fact
the work of the great master.
I
wonder what the Tids #000001 would go for? $4.00?
One
of the constant battles I face writing this morning mess
is to stay young enough for a broad audience. Fighting the comfort zone drift
is my challenge.
A
lot of people find in it impossible to understand
why Corporate execs get big bucks even after they drive their companies into
the dumpster.
My
neighbor thinks I listen to a lot of long hair music. That is
good. I don’t have to go to the barber shop as much to live up to his preconceptions.
Shooting
a deer through the heart is a painless instant death.
Violently yanking a plant out of the ground causes lingering agonizing pain in
the root system. The humanity test: Venison steak of beet salad?
Without
question, competition like no other force spurs creativity
and inspires individuals and groups to improve themselves. Hey, even communist
China recognized that diddling with capitalism would be a boom to their nations
economy. And over in the auto biz, the threat of electric cars has combustion
engine manufacturers coming up with new, more efficient, environmentally
friendly option s for their product. Waken my competitive bones and I can
survive anything. Well, maybe not a competitive golf match.
The
Answer:
4,000 years ago, was about 1,983 BC. That was about
the time it is believed that Stonehenge was built and horses were first tamed
and used for transporting. It was the time of the Chinese Bronze age, and when
the last wooly mammoth went extinct. It was a time when glass would first be
used extensively. Babylonia was developing fast and Egypt was in its heyday.
4,000 months ago, we had Stradivari busily making classic violins and Alexandro
Scarlatti the leading classical composer. In the USA William Bradford Jr. was
Governor of the Plymouth Colony and William Coddington was Governor of RI (He
granted a relative of mine a divorce). Francis Howard was Gov of Virginia. The
Palace of Versailles was completed in 1684. 4,000 days ago, was in October 2006
and the US was happily blind to a super decline on the horizon, even as the Dow
hit its first all-time high of in five years (11,727). Google bought YouTube
for a mere $1.65 Billion. The last American MASH unit was decommissioned. A
milk truck driver in Lancaster Pa opened fire in an Amish schoolhouse killing 5
young girls; Nasa’s messenger flew by Venus, and the Cardinals beat the Tigers
for the World Series Title. 4,000 issues ago, “The Beginning”, had the giant
WorldCom filing for bankruptcy, and there were mass shootings across the
country, including the Beltway Sniper”. The DotCom implosion reached its
bottom. Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped, and John Cheney was our president while
George Bush underwent a Colonoscopy, which seems like a significant beginning
for The beloved Tids.
So…what
did you expect…something better than the usual just because
it’s the 4,000th issue. Nope, Just the same old crap. Get used to it.
Among
my favorite discoveries over the years while writing
this thing was a a raft of different country fiddlers playing “Orange Blossom Special”
I vow never to repeat myself in in the lines of this landmark opinion
newsletter, but I believe this one with Roy Clarke is is worthy of repetition. Well,
it makes me happy. I like to be happy.
