For Serenity:
The
next time you read a Tids after this you will have experienced
Fall, Autumn, you know, the most comforting time of year. Other than a few
aches and pains, aging is a beautiful time of life -- like the season that
turns green into oranges, reds and yellows against crystalline blue, rolling
seas. By the time we reach Autumn we
have experienced the beautiful stimulating cold, yet harshness of Winter and
reawakening in Spring. The Summer seems bright and glorious as growth abounds,
yet it is often oppressive and wearing… and overcrowded. By Fall we have seen
everything; we are looking for quiet time; easing, slowing, reflecting, until
that last leaf wanders aimlessly down from a limb above. And it is peace.
A
guy asked me the other day why I ordered Sea Salt
potato chips. I told him that I was nautical by nature and preferred going down
to the sea in chips.
There
is really nothing left to say about Dems Versus
Kavanaugh until whatever happens next week, happens.
I
would vote for any politician who would advocate
burning leaves again. Tis a beautiful evening as the chill rises and sun sends
long shadows; when with Martini in hand I watch the dying embers fade.
One
happy possibility is a new signal from Wall Street indicating
6-9 more months of upward movement. I always worry about September as the month
when the pros return from the Hamptons and try to make sense of the summer machinations.
But, low and behold, in this past key third week we have seen a new high in Dow
Industrials and an even more significant similar rise in Dow Transports. They
tell me that has always been a “Bullish signal for of confirmation for market
technicians…” So, sit back, wipe the politicians from your mind and enjoy some
football. Or even raking leaves or baking apple pies.

“Down to the Sea in Ships” is considered one of the all-time

the waves there of are still….”

Question: I have a friend who owns a delivery service

There
just aren’t a lot of “Must See” college football games
this weekend. I can easily tell you which is the worst game among so-called big
names -- Rutgers versus Nebraska in the “Big” 10. Mighty Nebraska was beaten handily
by Troy State last week and Rutgers has proven so far this year, that they should
give up football entirely. I’d say that Arkansas – Texas A&M would be the best
of a mediocre schedule. In the past West Virginia/Kansas could have been great
as would have Florida State/NC State. UCF, the team that gets no respect should
trounce Maryland, another of those fading programs. (Ad why, again did they
leave the ACC?) Duke/NC is a good rivalry game, and BC fans up here actually
think they can tame Clemson. So, I call this a ho-hummer. I have to say, that I
watch college football because it is there, and I have determined that there is
just too much of it, and it all looks the same. That’s why I’ll be watching the
finals of the FedEx Golf Championship this weekend.
I
know how the Dems feel in their attempt to block the Justice
approval. Whenever I need a big golf shot to overcome a few misses, I invariably
overswing and top it. Politicians do that all the time.
Actually,
there
is word form California that they may it ok again for outdoor autumn burning --

Between the Lines Movie Reviews:
--50% like it and 50% hate it. That means it can only
be a new film by Michael Moore, this time it is filled with hatred againste president.
Oh yeah, critics like it quite a bit. But what would you expect. Fahrenheit
11/9 is described in tis sentence: “It will explore the two most important
questions of the Trump era: How the f*** did we get here and how the F*** do we
get out?” I think the left is always missing the bigger picture that the USA is
more than the presidency. This is no way to begin the Fall.
--Now, the Critics hate “Life Itself”, but audiences
seem to like pretty well. Again, the dichotomy between the press and the
public, in case Michael Moore is wondering how Trump got in? This film is by “This
Is Us” Creator Dan Fogelman and examines the rewards of life through the eyes
of multi generations.
--Sisters Brothers is about two assassins in the old
west, one the older dedicated to his profession played by John C. Riley, and the
younger played by Joaquim Phoenix, wondering if there another place in life for
him. But all they both know is being gunman. They begin to quibble and finally
question as they search for remains of humanity within them.
--The House With A Clock In Its Walls is probably not
that great a movie despite good cast of Cate Blanchette, Jack Black and10 yr
old newcomer Owen Vaccaro. A young boy looks for fun when he moves to live with
his uncle but instead finds himself at the center of a world of witches and
warlocks
The
Answer:
Lionel Barrymore and Richard Widmark starred in this
movie about the sea and learning all sides of real life. Others in the cast are
Dean Stockwell, Gene Lockhart and many other solid actors of the 1949 era. Hey,
how can that be a great film – it’s all white men. Bonus: Arlanda Hartsfield is the busiest handling about 20% more
flights than the nearest competitor , Los Angeles. Third is O’Hare in Chicago
followed by Dallas, Denver, JFK NYC, San Fran, Las Vegas McCarron, Seattle/Tacoma
and Charlotte. If you combine the three NYC airports, then that city easily has
the most crowded airspace at 67K versus Atlanta’s 50K.
Let
the winds of discourse lie smothered beneath fallen
leaves. Hear the sounds as they crunch beneath your footsteps; sense the aroma
of decay, knowing that the cycle never ends even as we see once vibrant foliage
ground to dust.
I
like the “Leaf Rule”. That is invoked every fall when you get
a free drop after being unable to find your ball in autumn leaves. There’s a
little good in everything.
Have
a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
