Today's Tids Issue 4,467
For Others:
Who do you pray for most this morning --
The 34 on a ship trapped horrendously below in an inferno, or the residents of
the Bahamas huddled together as winds of 140-185 mph roar for over 30 hours? One
knowing, the other not knowing. Think of the hopelessness, the horror for all of
them, and get down and your knees and sweat out a few prayers.
“Home Schooling”
is portrayed as kind of a trendy, progressive way of teaching children, but it isn’t
a new concept in the least. For generations youngsters were home schooled in morality,
character building, responsibility, love of family, love of neighbors, respect
for human life and contribution to society. For starters.
Americans often today
spend too much time worrying about horrors that never come, and anguishing over
apparent “mistakes” of the distant past that were common activity for very different
times
The Question:
What is “Presentism”?

Yesterday
seemed like Sunday. But then, I judge everything by when tourists come and tourists
go.
Have you noticed that
Bernie and Eliz and the rest of the progressives are courting the same group? The
irresponsibles. Yeah, they keep saying they’ll pay off committed-too debts. Like yesterday when Bernie promise to pay off
$81 Billon of Medical debt. What kind of country would we have with no skin in the
game? Where folks would take on debt with a sense that someday some political
aspirant will promise to pay it off. BTW,
that also include reckless investors who want bail outs for their own miscalculations.
I wanted to be sprightly and funny
this morning, but I just couldn’t stop thinking about the California boat fire
and the Bahamas.
Imagine
breaking into a country other than the USA and being angry that their detention
centers weren’t up to your standards.”
Did you read about
that multi-millionaire developer who after being convicted of fraud and losing his
ill-gotten fortune wanted the taxpayers to pay his high-priced lawyers. I think
the lawyers miscalculated when they took the case. Live with it.
Most criticism
isn’t really about right or wrong, it is about agree or disagree.
Personally,
around 3:00 each day I spend my time musing over which snack I will choose to get
me through until dinner. None of the choices involve celery or carrot sticks.
Although carrots are orange, you can’t tell a snack by its color.
Mice die
in mousetraps because they don’t understand why the cheese is free.
Standing Headline
for current era, “Democrat Congress to probe Trump…”
News Headlines like Nails on a Blackboard,
Department:
“Jeff Bezos Spends Labor Day With Girlfriend Shopping.”
Inane, just plain absurd.
I see where SpaceX
is refusing to move its Starlink Satellite after warnings of a potential
Collision from a European satellite. We’re barely in space and already we are not
getting along. I guess that is the nature of man. (Sorry activists, politically
correcting “man” just doesn’t read as well.)
Many an author
over the years has had to suffer the rants of revisionists.
The Answer:
Presentism is the idea that we can judge actions of
the past by current day standards and attitudes, rather than in the light of their
own historical context. Some modern historians seek to avoid presentism in their
work, considering it a form of cultural bias, creating a distorted view of their
historical research, and history in general. Today the misapplication of history
is regularly employed to support a populist biased movement. Nd too many have
so little knowledge of history that they take revisionism as a fact. Eliminating
a country’s past is a proven method to assure it has no future.
Then there is reality,
which begins all over again today.
I leave you today with,
the store keeps calling me back to buy bedroom furniture, but all I wanted was
one night stand.
