Today's Tids Issue 4,584
Silence speaks volumes:
President “Ike” never
mentioned the names of people he didn’t like. The country got along pretty
well.
“Fate is kind.
She brings to those who love, the sweet fulfillment of their secret longings.” –Jiminy
Cricket.
(Just warming up for
V-Day next week.)
Most of these Nightly News
teasers lead to generally nothing.
It’s really hard to
write a poem about a frosty day that rimes.
Politics and national
leaders have regressed to look more like a NFL half time show. Lot’s of glitz
ad outrageousness, but little basic blocking and tackling, Less and less that is
substantial.
The Question:
Name the first five Disney Animated Feature films.

I know envy is one
is one of the seven deadly sins, and I would never would want to do anything that
would sway people from the straight and narrow, but I just got word of my 10th
Anniversary as a Wheel Watcher’s Club member.
Eat your hearts out.
A smart guy
in the Investment business says the key to today’s market decalin is how well it
comes back by Tuesday.
I read this comic strip
“Frazz” and I often wonder when finished how I ever got out of Grammar school. Many
days it just flies over my head. Makes me feel humble, but not woke.
If you are up to watching
celebs prance, the biggest of them all is this Sunday – Oscars. The winners could
be: Picture -- Parasite (Closing fast against 1917, a popular bet), Actor -- Joaquim
Phoenix (Joker). Actress – Renee Zellweger (Judy). Sup Actor – Brad Pitt (OUATIH).
Sup Actress – Laura Dern (Marriage Story). Director – Sam Mendes – 1917. Do you
think their will be any nasty comments about Impeachment? Do you think any of them
will tear up their scripts?
Earlier this week
I was whining about not understanding what Limu the Emu has to do with Liberty
Mutual. A good and loyal old reader responded immediately saying it stood for –
LI-berty MU-tual. It looks more to me like the CEO said to his advertising minions,
get me a Gecko, get me something funny. It’s a reach. It’s like something Frazz
would say.
Here’s a couple of things
I’d like to see returning to America, Grace, class, understanding. Listening,
humility, humor…just for starters.
Elisabeth Warren
is complaining that voters should be voting for a woman for President. That’s
where identity politics gets it really wrong. Not voting for Eliz doesn’t mean that
the people don’t want a woman, it means they don’t want Eliz to be that woman.
The virus thing
could be putting a lot of pressure on Xi. More pressure than outsiders may
imagine.
Reading Between the Lines Movie Reviews:
--I don’t quite Understand “Birds Of Prey, but if
you know of Harley Quinn and the three – Huntress, Black Canary and Renee
Montoya who are chasing down super villain, Roman Sionis and hench person Zsasz
while trying to find the missing Cass, then you will probably like this one.
(Sounds like it was written by Frazz).
--A father leaves his kids in the care of his girlfriend
in a mountain lodge and goes to work. A blizzard comes and, and so do demons from
the girlfriend’s past. the lodge is smothered under. There is no escape. Pretty
scary.
--In Come to Daddy, we move from demons in a snowy
lodge to demons in a coastal cabin far from Civilization. A privileged “Man
Child” learns something new about his dad and it isn’t pretty.
--"And Then We Danced” follows the ambitions of
a devoted dancer who with his partner Mary have spent years to reach a coveted dance
position in Georgia (Not USA). They are on the brink when -- Enter a really
good, good looking dancer and we see a potentially fractured romance and perhaps
dreams shattered.
The Answer:
The first animated feature that captivated audiences
was “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”. Next was “Pinocchio” and good old Jiminy
Cricket. #3 was the magnificent classical “Fantasia”. #4 was “Dumbo” and rounding
out the Big Five was “Bambi” in August 1942. The next five were – “Saludos Amigos”
(1943). With sequel the following year called “The Three Caballeros”. In 1946
Disney released “Make Mine Music” featuring big band era greats Benny Goodman,
Dinah Shore, The Andrew Sisters, Nelson Eddy and Jerry Colona among a few others.
Other musical films were “Fun and Fancy Free” with Dinah Shore and Edgar Bergen
and #10, “Melody Time” with a host of pop music performers including Roy Rogers,
Dennis Day and Fred Waring.
Happy Weekend,
E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
