Blessing of the Day 2

Today's Tids Issue 4,783

The Pope's Nose?:

If you have been reading the Tids for a while you know I am somewhat of a contrarian. But I have to go along with the masses for Today’s Blessing. Yes, how can we not recognize the nurses and doctors and assistant nurses and hospital maintenance personnel and receptionists and EMT’s and every single person working well beyond sensible normal hours to fight against this marauding disease. To care for the seriously ill, to save people. My heart goes out to every one of them. And I know that around Thanksgiving Day tables, many lonely this year, people will be giving thanks to this group of kind, tireless, unselfish human beings.

Yesterday after Joe B’s press conference a liberal (had to be) news reporter shouted at the new President, “Why did you name so many National Security people first?” I have to say that the Prez elect had the right answer, “It’s, N-a-t-i-o-n-a-l S-e-c-u-r-i-t-y,” he said (Duh). You have to wonder if the reporter had hoped for a new cabinet position like National Statue Destruction Secretary!

Joe Biden will have to be more adept than the Flying Wallendas walking the College Debt Forgiveness tight rope. I think it is immoral to expect to be forgiven a debt willingly entered into.

The Question:

What are the 10 favorite Thanksgiving side dishes?

The Headlines:

--Vaccine Rally Continues; Dow S&P Strong, Nasdaq Turns Corner At Mid Moring.

--Just In: Pa Certifies Biden.

--Trump Admin Says Ok To Fund Prez Joe Transition.

--President Elect Biden Picks Cabinet Members.

--Trump To Pardon Turkey; Is It Sign Of Return To Normalcy?

--Conservative Talk Show Stars Limbaugh And Ingraham Criticize Trump Legal Teams And Election Denials.

--Swamp Scrambling To Get Plumb Biden Jobs.

-- Secretary of State Nominee Blinken Tied To Hunter Biden In Emails.

--Former Treasury Secretary Summers Skeptical About College Loan Forgiveness.

It was interesting to me that in reporting Joe Biden’s first cabinet members, the media never said whether or not they were good, but only that they were first in some identity category. Hey, they may be very good, but you always will hold the suspicion they were picked first because the were a woman, Hispanic, black et.al.

As I watch all of these vaccine announcements, I’m wondering if Pfizer, which was first, may eventually be last considering the necessity for super low temperatures. We are in the hysteria phase now, the practical phase has yet to come.

In the early days of the internet communications I was told that I should never put a link in the middle of a good paragraph, as people click there and don’t come back. But I trust Tidsters to return. Although this link doesn’t lead to anything but a few new pics on the Tids web site www.worldviewetc.blogspot.com

I have been reading some terrific High School sports stories in the the big statewide newspaper during these Covid days.. I’m sure there are many similar cool stories n your own states. One is about East Greenwich HS which own the Boys and Girls State Divisional Championships and the overall sate Field Hockey Title. What makes the story interesting is that the Boy’s soccer and the Field Hockey were both 1-0 victories And the goals in each of those tight games was scared by a Brother and a Sister Alec and Andrew Mega

The other HS sports story really sent some chills though this aging body. In 2017 a terrific 16-year-old girls’ soccer player from Tollgate HS named Gianna Cirella died without warning from a sepsis infection. It stunned this entire little state of RI. She was quite the player and a very special person. Yesterday Her sister Cassie, who had been devasted by the older sister’s death. scored two goals and as Captain of the team she led them to the state Championship. The entire team was playing for Gianna Cassie, said that soccer was the only thing that kept her going and the courage she found to live, though sadly, with Gianna’s passing, also helped her parents live with the sudden tragedy. And Cassie’s spirit to not let down her sister infected the entire Tollgate team community. There were many tears as hat trophy was passed around the field.

Thankfulness can change your life.

In case you are interested, Warren Buffet has been Christmas shopping early. Here are eight stocks he has just purchased: AbbVie, Merck, Bristol-Meyers Squibb, Snowflake (Cloud Data), T-Mobil US, Pfizer, Bank of America and General Motors.

The Answer:

I’ll give you 12: #12 is Corn, best in a corn pudding or some kind of souffle. 11 is Glazed Carrots followed by Candied Yams, Creamed Spinach, Brussel Sprouts, Sweet Potato Casserole, Green Bean Casserole, Cranberry Sauce and Rolls. The top three are Mac and Cheese, Stuffing and 31 – Mashed potatoes. And of course, rich, creamy declivous gravy. Mac and Cheese for Thanksgiving? We never have rolls; A favorite here has been Cauliflower with Cheese sauce. My sister always brought that.

One day to go before the best Holliday ever, Covid or no Covid.

Time to hit the premeal treadmill!
