Count em':
This is Count-Your-Blessings Week. I’m sure this week that those affected will be counting their blessings for the love, or friendship or kindness received from those who passed away due to Covid. Many of those who died alone; many of those left behind never having a chance to say Good-Bye, I loved you, thanks for being a part of my lie thanks for all that you have given me, and maybe the word world around you. Maybe that should be the central theme of all our Thanksgiving’s this year. That millions of Americans are looking beyond turkey and stuffing and candied yams, into the hearts of those so saddened. Maybe this is our Thanksgiving Day prayer.
(I’ll try to think of a blessing for each day this week. If you have any suggestions, pass them along. Thanks)
Donald Trump has been issuing a lot of executive orders lately. All that means probably is that it will give Joe B plenty to do reversing them when he enters office. Is this the new America, issuing and cancelling Executive orders. Whatever happened to legislation?
One of the happier musical introductions to any day is Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances. I’m talking in particularly about the pleasing Companae Parisuebse and robust, light up your morning Bergamasca of Suite #2. (Note, the suite numbers seem subject to changed based which company produced the recording, and who did the translation!) I first heard that as the opening music to the classical Music program in Boston hosted by Robert J. Lurtsema. He, a morning PBS fixture, began in 1971 and l listened pretty faithfully, while reading my morning paper, until his death in 2,000. He was quite inventive and very informative.
Expect a lot of opinions during the next few weeks about current high-priced stock markets. There are always opinions—it’s why some make the big bucks. There are some legitimate concerns and currently most prevalent is high valuations. On paper they are definitely too high, which might indicate a serios fall back to more realistic levels. On the other side we have some of the smarter financial experts reminding us, correctly so, that interest rates are very low, and so is inflation, two key considerations that surely support the higher valuations. But beware of calls of moderation as concerns over a serios CV slowdown mushroom. Because of that, a major analyst at Goldman has reduced his projected his yearend GDP from 4,0 to 3.5. That’s realism investors tend to rely on. I have a feeling that things seem too good atop a leaky ship. But not many buy and sell based on my feelings. So that’s a blessing.
The Question:
According to “Bestlifeonline”, what are the five most romantic songs ever written? Bonus: Speaking of romance, why do cats always show their owners their butts?

Regardless of elections and political promises, some things never change and it is often because real problems are never confronted or hidden under Political Correctness. This past weekend 57 were shot and 5 died on the streets of Chicago. Or, last night when 7 were shot, one killed at a Sweet Sixteen party in Brooklyn. Black lives matter. Where is truth?
If the professor on Gilligan’s Island can make a radio out of a coconut, why can’t he fix a hole in a boat?
Line of thee Day is from Michaele J. Fox who has lived with Parkinson’s for 30 years now: “Every step I take is a frigging math problem…”.
Countervailing to my observations, the national opinion seems to be that 2020 sucked, that God left us behind. I find it sad that people are looking to console each other in trendy misery, when in fact it presents us all with an opportunity for discovery. Except of course those in real misery, struggling to keep businesses open or make house payments on time or keep food on the table. Now, that is misery.
“I hate it when people use big words just to make themselves sound perspicacious.”
In Connecticut, it is expected that 500 to 600 restaurants will close permanently due to Covid.
Whatever happened to the Hunter Biden investigation and the always “soon-to-be-released” Durham Report. The mainstream media were never much interested in them anyhow. And those intrepid reporters will certainly not try to ignite those fires with Joe in office.
The Answer:
Number one Most romantic song is Make You Feel My Love – Bob Dylan (Covered by Billy Joel and Adele) ; Ay t Last - Etta James; Perfect – Ed Sheeran; I Will Always Love You – Whitney Houston; Kiss Me – Sixpence None the Richer ; Come Away With Me – Norah Jones; Die A Happy Man – Thomas Rhett; My Heart Will Go On – Celine Dion; Realize – Colbie Caillat; You Send – Sam Cooke. Number 11 is Moon River for Breakfast at Tiffany’s, My Girl by the Temptations, How Sweet It Is by James Taylor, The Way You Look Tonight by Fred Astaire, All of Me by John Legend, When a Man Loves a Woman by Percy Sledge, When I fall in Love by Nat King Cole and at #25, yes it is Celine again with Because You Loved Me. Bonus: Cats sniff each other out as a way of recognizing each other and as a friendly or romantic gesture. When your cat turns its butt to you it is only saying, “Hello”! I can think of better ways to interact with animals…like,.. “Paw!”
I imagen that everybody has an opinion on their favorite romantic tune.
