Friday the what?

Today's Tids Issue 4,776

No problem with the 13th:

Today is of black cats, walking neath ladders,

Of broken mirrors and sidewalk cracks.

But to me and many, bad luck never matters.

Cause it’s better to build our own life tracks.

Benjamin Franklin defined the foundational American ethos “as a marriage of the practical values of Thrift, Hard Work, Education, Community Spirit, Self-Governing Institutions and Opposition to Authoritarianism both political and religious, with the scientific and tolerant values of the enlightenment.”

There are some basic truths that should never be altered.

If you are trying to find Will Smith after a snow storm, just look for fresh prints.

The Question:

--Who was Jean Baptiste Leroy? Bonus: name the top Five Whoopi Goldberg Movies?

The Headlines:

--Stocks Seriously Jump Back In.

--Infections Set New One F day Covid Record Of 150,000+.

--US Fishing Boats Confront Russian Warships Off Alaska.

--China Congratulators Biden On Winning; Trump Officially Loses Mich, Pa and Ariz.

--Sanders: Corporate Dems Attacking So-Called Far Left Policies, Dems Blame House Losses On Progressives.

--Jerome Powell Spoke At ECB Conference Today; ECB, US Fed Cautious Over Pfizer Vaccine.

I read a line from an entertainment publication: “Queens Gambit Sucks, and anyone enjoying it is lying to themselves.” There could be an air of truth to that. The big PR machine in the sky sends rafts of writers, directors and actors to all of these talk shows like Today and GMA in the morning, and Hodah and Kelly/Ryan later and all the afternoon sitting around the table gabbing shows. And the hosts become giddy over just about every show that walks in the door, mainly because they need the actors and producers to return to their shows another day. And the watchers say, why if all these personalities love it, then I love it too. So we get all these new super hit shows of the eyar on Netflix and Prime etc., and me and many wonder pretty quickly, “Why am I exactly watching this mess. I don’t mind Queen’s Gambit, but I can see what he means.

And old friend of the deceased husband asks the wife if he could go up to the coffin and say a few words. She says, “Of course”. The man moves up and turns saying, “Plethora”. The wife smiles and says, “Thanks, that means a lot.”

I have been watching The Voice pretty regularly and they are now into the “Battles’ round, which always entertaining. So far I’m not into any singer in particular. One major critic after “The Blinds” picked his top 11. His number one contender is Ben Allen. Right behind him is Lain Roy (Eliminated in the Battles) followed by John Holiday, Kelsie Watts, Tamara Jade, Sid Kingsley, Jim Ranger, Ryan Gallagher, Carter Rubin, Larriah Jackson and Marisa Corvo. My favorite Battles duet so far was that between Payge Turner and Lauren Frihauf. There was just something in it that got me

The way the scores are coming in so far, is promises to be a good Master’s with a great ending.

It’s Masters weekend, albeit 7 months late. But it is what it has always been a these many fabulous years, a great tournament with an amazing field. The spring azaleas have been replaced by colorful fall tees. The course brilliantly lush and the sofa upon which I will be sitting is plush. I have stockpiled a good supply of Cheetos and other assorted sacks, you know, for variety’s sake. Yup, watching the Master’s is just about it for my weekend. If you ever want ro clear out the soot from the political morass, the Masters is it.

Q. Where do you find a dog with no legs?” A. Right where you left it.

The Answer:

241 years ago it was Jean Baptiste LeRoy who received a letter from his friend Ben Franklin that gave the world one of Ben’s most repeated witticisms, “Our new Constitution is now established and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be s certain, except death and taxes.” Bonus: While I disagree with Whoopie’s politics in general, she has always been one of those entertainers I look forward to seeing on the screen, She is funny, pure and simple. Her number one movie: The Color Purple. The rest are Sister Act, Ghost, The lion King, Sister Act 2, Jumpin’ Jack Flash (My favorite), Corina, Corina, Ghosts of Mississippi and Toy Story 3.

I have always been partial to, the harder you try, the luckier you get.

Have a great Weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!!
