Down a quiet path.

Todays Tids Issue 5,040

Inevitability scares:

Down in those hills where nobody goes.

Where a crystalline creek still gently flows

Where you taste nature simple and pure,

It being the perfect tonic and cure,

For all of life’s perceived dire ills.

Yup, there, down in those faraway hills.

I like to think in terms of inevitabilities. That means to me, if you honestly admit to the truths, you will see a discernable pattern as they layer up to a conclusive apex.

Here’s a question. In what jobs/careers/professions is being a loving, touching, flawed human an essential requirement? That being a hedge against machine replacement.

This weekend I put a few more pics into the Tids online presence. They are mostly of the autumn ocean, and frankly the page looks kind of blue. Starting in December this web site may even become useful. I’ll be out walking looking for the best, most unique Christmas decorations and I’ll load it up with some ideas for you to ponder. You can get there: www.worldviewetc.blogspot.com

When I was in the emerging dot.com and eMagazine business beginning in the late 1990’s, a wise man told me, never put a URL in the middle of a document because readers will leave you and never come back. But in this case, you’ll be going to the rest of the Tids in a new format.

The Question:

Name five fruits that ae classified as Drupes. Bonus: What is the more popular name for Pirate Edward Teach?

I like watching the U of WVa win football games so I can feel good about singing “Take Me Home Country Road” when it’s over.

On Thursday a turkey walks into the kitchen to check the day’s temp, It reads 350 degrees. He was confused.

One interesting inevitability study is that wage gap thing. No matter how hard people try to artificially change it in a free society, it will necessarily grow wider, not diminish. That is because increasingly the need now and in the future is for brighter, better educated human workers with greater skills, and where the need for menial task workers will contract dramatically. Employers will look for ways to eliminate forced wage over Payment detrimental to effect productivity.

The Drumbeat is growing louder for all of these special sales days leading up to Christmas, “Black Friday, Cyber Monday. and there’s sure to be more this year as retailers begin to panic. And for me, when I hear of tease big instore super sales, I run the other way. Oh yeah, and about Cycler Monday… I don’t think cyber needs help any more.

Aren’t you surprised that some woke group hasn’t tried to ban Black Friday? Or maybe they have, and I’m just not listening any more.

Think about that public theft attack on a Nordstrom’s store for a minute. Let’s hope that kind of lawlessness isn’t inevitable. But if people condone it, enable it for some obscure philosophical reason, it may be . Sad, really sad,

In a way, the Rittenhouse trial was about whether to condone or condemn looting and chaotic mayhem, and general all around lawlessness.

In a few days our cornstalk world will be replaced by evergreens, and probably palm leaves I southern climes.

The inevitability of socialism taking over America is directly proportional to the lack of knowledge by voters.

The new Jeep Wagoneer has a starting price of around $100,000. You can charter a nice big sailing yacht around here for $30K a week. I don’t think I live in that economic world. It will take a lot of minimum wage legislation to equal that kind of income comfort.

A week ago last Friday in the Tids movie reviews I said I would put “Tick, tick, BOOM” on my movies to see list. I watched it this weekend and I liked it a lot. The music is very good and the story of based on an autobiography of the upbeat and energetic genius Broadway creator and composer John Larson (Creator, writer composer of super hit “Rent”) just moves along at great pace. Lots of energy and warm moments for the heart.

For some reasons tradition has us coloring easter eggs when we should know that easter bunnies don’t lay eggs. But we know that turkeys lay eggs. Why aren’t we coloring turkey eggs for Thanksgiving.

We know the Tids punster department lays an occasional egg. Why aren’t we coloring them for my birthday?

Politicians love to set up scary fire breathing dragons to slay. Among those of the past have been oil and steel companies and kindly ole’ Ma Bell. If they are big they are attackable, and an uniformed populace will applaud o cue. And today it is drug companies where these fearless Knights of ours in congress behind collective suits of armor, and wit drawn swords have taken a foothold. This time to rig prices lower, to infringe upon a free-enterprise decision process that must balance returns to the owners with creating piles of money to use for the discovery of life saving drugs so clamored for by that same foggy populace..

The Answer:

A drupe is also known as a Stone Fruit. An olive is a drupe as is a cherry, apricot, peach, mango, nectarine and plum. As well as almonds, pistachios, dates, coconuts and cashews. And coffee bean plants. Official definition: It is an indehiscent fruit in which an outer fleshy part (exocarp, or skin, and mesocarp, or flesh) surrounds a single shell (the pit, stone, or pyrena) of hardened endocarp with a seed (kernel) inside. Got it? Bonus: Edward Teach was a well-known scourge of the seas as Blackbeard.

“Take Me Home, Country Road” by John Denver is in my head this morning. Maybe it will be in yours today, and you’ll smile a bit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTeUdJky9rY
