Today's Tids Issue 5,036
What's going on:
We are settling in under cold and glassy skies, where ocean crests glisten like diamonds on a fairy-tale princess’s tiara. . There's a little extra bounce in my step as I traipse my new world of icy glee. And my aging mind…, well it just seems clearer than it’s ever been. It’s settling in time, a time to enjoy bundling up and lazing before cozy fires in a a winter’s cabin lair. My walks will be briskier and I’ll feel friskier. The crowds will be gone and quietude will be the norm. Now this is a new normal to which I can agree. I’ll see you all at the soaking pod. Bring kindling for a little fire by the sitting log.
What am I going to do with all of this new found friskiness? Wash storm windows?
.
I’d look for a good robot company to invest in. You know, the kind that makes mechanical devices that replace humans who don’t appear to be showing up to work.
Joe B coulda had the infrastructure bill passed early in his admi perhaps augmenting his honeymoon period, way before the negative hits if he hadn’t held it hostage trying to pass the socialist trillions..
Joe Biden ad Xi had a virtual meeting last night, but it doesn’t appear that anything happened. I did notice in advance press releases that Xi spoke of the “Global Community”. Hmm…one that would have China on top and he in charge.
A stick: A boomerang that doesn't come back?
The Question:
Name what are considered the five most decisive battles of The Revolutionary War.

How many of the “anointed” NFL teams have fallen badly this year? Last night it was LA Rams’ turn.
I had to laugh this morning when a woman sportscaster on a very popular sports talk show in Boston commented during a general gabfest about Thanksgiving that we should celebrate Columbus Day on Thanksgiving since he arrived at Plymouth Rock. This is an educated woman wo has a god job on a leading radio program.
BTW, a letter in the Providence newspaper this morning suggested that Brown U to make up for their past sins against humanity should change their name to “Indigenous University”. This is a entirely stupid name, and more so, Brown’s sins had nothing to do with indigenous people, only imported people. The weird word world of social media has gone nuts.
What do you call the soft tissue between a shark's teeth? A slow swimmer.
Elon Musk just sold $930 Million of his Tesla stock. That should be a nice capital gains tax.
I had a good night on Jeopardy last night. Some days your mind works better than others. Must be the cold
The Voice will cut off two more tonight. I thought last night’s singing was good but some of the song selections hurt a couple of singers, in my estimation. And this was the week that the singers pick their own songs which can be a problem. From now on coaches will be picking, and the coaches tend to know what gets audiences voting. One of the problems for several good singers may be that they are in a lane filled with many of a like genre. So, they may cancel themselves out. Personally, I liked Joshua Vacanti last night. I would hope he stay because he brings imaginative variety to the show. The same for Girl Named Tom who are still my number one favorite. Last night they were excellent, but I have liked them better. I like Jim and Sasha Allen, but the boy Sasha started weakly, though nicely saved when dad entered strongly. Also very good were Wendy Moten (another of my favorites), Jershika Maple and Jeremy Rosado. Paris Winingham is likeable and a good singer and will make the cut, but he left me a little cold last night. I liked Haily Mia’s song and she has a great deeper voice. She will probably stay. I thought that Holly Forbes did well last night with a Garth Brooks tune, ad the last true country singer Lana Scott was better than usual. I believe the final three sing off for one spot will be Shadale and Ryleigh Plank for sure and either Scott, Holly or Gymani. Ryleigh sang Stevie Nicks and it was much too creative for this Nicks fan. Shadale was all over the place and she felt abrasive to me. So, that’s it.
Fulfilling campaign promises can often produce more losses than rewards. The candidate bellowing on a stage just doesn’t know what he will learn when sitting behind that big desk in the oval office. And if he learns something offsetting and goes with the promise anyhow, then we know we are in trouble.
I would be surprised if the Rittenhouse verdict came back fast.
Last night it was Big East teams Providence and Marquette beating Big Ten Teams Wisconsin and Illinois respectively. Could this be a predictor for a good year for Eastern Basketball.
Robots could help ease inflation because they don’t ask for higher raises that only get passed onto consumers.
The current Tesla stock sell-off has this hot company looking mighty bearish. I wonder how that will affect emerging stock prices of new EV darlings Lucid and Rivian?
The progressives are against this new infrastructure bill because it it is too kind to automobile travel. How small are their minds? In case you are interested, the ten most congested bridges in America are: George Washington Bridge, NYC; Brent Spence Bridge, Cincinnati-Covington, KY; Bulkeley Bridge, Hartford, CT; Marquam Bridge, Portland, OR; Horace Wilkinson Bridge, Baton Rouge, LA; Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, Brooklyn-Staten Island, NY; Poplar Street Bridge; St. Louis, MO; Columbia River Interstate Bridge, Vancouver, WA; SR91 Bridge, Anaheim, CA; Vine Street Expressway Bridge, Philadelphia, PA. Of course, now thee will be even more delays when they try to widen those bridges.
The Answer:
#10 is Yorktown, the battle that ended the war. #9 was Cowpens (Stopped British momentum in the South) followed by Kings Mountain, Rhode Island (Proved that US/France alliance was not automatic panacea. Set Back Americans in Northeast), Saratoga (Some believe this is #1 Importance: Impressed France; Inspired American soldiers.), Trenton (Much needed comeback after many defeats), Charleston, Quebec (Capped a series of American victories), Bunker Hill (Showed British it wasn’t going to be easy), and at #1 Lexington and Concord -- “The shot heard round the world”.
Infrastructure is quite necessary especially when you live in older cities atop decaying necessities like water lines and sewers for starters.
I used to breed rabbits. Then I realized they can handle it themselves.
That sounds like a progressive government.
