Today's Tids Issue 5,374
I love Smiley faces:
Today is another D-Day for the Fed and Wall Street. You'd think by now the experienced Wall Street denizens would be less panic driven awaiting Pawell Pronouncements. I think they create illusions of direness or happiness so they can turn defeats into crazed hysterias and wins into unrestrained elation. In other words, Wall Street is run by humans who just talk in another language.
This morning millions of Americans are happily munching on candy they didn’t give away as they sit before a diet breakfast of dried oatmeal over bananas.
The national news media is beginning to mischaracterize the Israeli response to a horrendous terrorist assault. But mischaracterization is a well-known media talent that erupts from inner bias. But regardless of a disingenuous media or the global rules of war and terror, you can't help feel deeply for the losses to average people caught in the middle, Israelis and Palestinians alike.
These days when it is all over and you approach the pearly gates and see Saint Pete standing there, you just gotta hope your username and password match.
The Question:

Here in my town, they are touting the deals from the upcoming “Restaurant Week”. Here’s the deal. It looks like I will have to pay twice as much for adding courses I never order in the first place, and even more dismaying, offer a somewhat meager compromise entre menu. I’ll go back to eating out when it is over.
You really don’t understand bad cel service until you get to prison.
The Belichick coaching tree as a lit of snapped branches.
How fast are the media rushing to NYC to get a peek at Don Jr., Eric and Ivanka telling it all about dear old dad. Thye aren't on a softball news talk show anymore. This could be interesting. They have their own futures to protect.
In 1963 the “Smiley Face” was invented by the State Mutual Insurance Company of Worcester Mass and soon was ubiquitous around the world. And I was smiling as another bit of sunshine came into my life as my second daughter was born. I remember the day well. But a little over a month later there were tears as JFK was assassinated and they are still talking about it today 60 years later. Yes, I, we all remember it well from the initial shockwave to actually seeing Ruby kill Oswald. That 22nd day of November – I was standing with a friend on a corner in Boston at Joe and Nemos Hotdog stand eating a dog while probably the mustard dripping on my shirt. It seemed quiet walking back to my High Street office. In the office we found everybody gathered around a radio. The faces told the story. That was the end of the year. But during year we saw Studebaker Auto Company shutter their doors and the Beatles continuing their march to begin to own the music world with “I want to hold her Hand” and “I saw her standing there”. But the Lords of London were red faced with the Profumo affair. But the tabloids were loving it. Th US and Russia established a Hot line. That was something. The Red Sox were pretty awful, and the Botson (New England) Patriots were embryonic nomads without a home. The Bostin restaurant Pier Four opened and became an instant hit especially after Liz Taylor showed up to eat. Much ot the dismay of Jimmies. I drank way too much there one night. But all wasn't lost in America – we got the Postal Zip Cide System. Was that the beginning of “Big Data”? Bread Cost 22 cents a loaf and Sirloin steak 89 cents a pound. And that was still a luxury for many. The top movies were Son of Flubber, Cleopatra, The Great Escape, Tom Jones, It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World and How the West was Won. Songs we liked other than the Beatles were “Can’t get used to losin’ You,” “Surfin; USA”, “Hes So Fine", “Puff the Magic Dragon,” “My Boyfriend’s Back" and “Rythm of the Rain”. Yes 1963 was good for my family but the world remembers it as the year Jack Kennedy Died. Was Putin behind it? :o)
Have you noticed how we romance ferocious killers of the past tliek the gangsters Dillinger and Baby-Face Floyd or the western folk killers Billy the Kid and the James Brothers. And now as we watch repeated slaughters by deranged amoral killers, do we see these legends in a different light?
Where can you find a bunch of clowns just released from jail? Silly Con Valley.
OMG... that was really bad.
Well, that’s about all I got today. Maybe they should put me in a padded cell somewhere.
The Answer:
Alcatraz closed in 1963 as it became too expensive to keep open. Famous inmates were Al Capone and Birdman.;;
Why is Facebook like a prison? You have a profile picture, you sit around all day writing on walls, and you get poked by guys you really don't know.
Happy hump day, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!
I hope you find a way to escape and be free to enjoy the day.
