Today's Tids Issue 5,377
I voted:
Today is Election day! How great is that. I don’t like extended election days like those that have been creeping in lately. When they siad it is good for the people it always means it’s really, really good for the politicians. I especially don’t like it when some candidates say they’ll be happy to debate... two days before the election, after people have been voting for two weeks. Are such candidates afraid of the discovery of inadequacies? You think! Around here I’m urging every Repub I know to vote. To let this extreme blue state know we are still alive, and that will never give up trying to change the status quo.
This is about the time when the rubber hist the road on family TDay plans. Maybe I’ll invent a family Holiday Harmony App.
Calories are tiny little creatures that colonize in your closet and overnight sew your clothes a little bit tighter together.
Musk changed twitter to “X” because he has a lot of money and can do whatever he wants to do. But from a marketing and investment point of view it is a waste of good money already overpaid for a strong global brand. Giving up and world acknowledged brand and replacing it with a letter that connotes negativity and more, doesn’t seem like the prudent move that would make investors happy if ere were investors with any control.
The internet went down for a long time here, so I wasn't able to type on the cloud-controlled keyboard. So 1966 comes tomorrow. Sorry, folks. And this will be shorter now.
The Question:
Adam West played Batman on the hot 1966 TV program. Who Played Robin. Bonus: What or who was “Galloping Gertie”?

Did you hear that Rory McIlroy held a press conference at Fenway Park yesterday announcing the TGA, a Monday night golf league created by him and Tiger Woods in conjunction with the PGA. It would run from January up to the Masters and the meaty part of the schedule. Rory will be part of a Boston team that Includes Keegan Bradly, Adam Scott and Tyrell Hatten. The five other cities in the league are New York, San Fran, LA, Atlanta and probably South Florida. It is expected to be Arena style competition with Hootin’ and Hollerin’.
Holy technology interruptus, Batman. 1966 will have to wait for tomorrow as I told you the Internet was down most of the day and a cloud dominated keyboard doesn’t work. Yikes!I
The demise of “We Work” just shows us that big money can only keep a bad investment running for so long. The era of soaring stock prices with no profits could be a thing of the past. It will hurt for while but should evolve into a better foundation, That is until another generation forgets about the past.
Speaking of naked investing, I was told that a great way to lose weight is to strip off all your clothes and stand in front of a mirror. A restaurant will throw you out before you’ve had a chance to eat.
Could big Pharma ever come up with a drug name that we could remember and pronounce? Maybe the names are purposely obtuse and complex to give the impression that the science is deep.
There is one course of thinking that is gaining momentum and that is that Israel relentless attacks in Gaza could dramatically increase the number recruits to the Hamas cause.
Thank god for making water an essential element of life, because without it we wouldn’t have coffee in the morning.
A new Fannie May Survey says that 85% of Americans say this is the wrong time to buy a house. In addition, 78% say the US economy is on the wrong track. Interest rates are a big part of what’s contributing to the negativity. And Home mortgages are the singular most significant detriment to economic growth. 17% say mortgage rates will go down, 47% say they will go up and 36% say they will stay the same.
The Answer:
Bert Ward was Robin with pithy quotes. It was a fun show. Bonus: Every young engineer first going into a Mechanical or Civil Engineering class sees the film about “Galloping Gertie”. In July of 1940, the Tacoma Narrows became the Third longest suspension bridge in the world. Four months later it was gone. The swaying started because of a gale. Each succeeding sway built upon the previous sway until it was beyond the bridge's ability to dampen the motion feeding upon itself. The designers failed to design in resistance to torsional flutter.
Someone damaged the local bridge last year. I still can’t get over it.
Sorry my attention span seemed short today. See you tomorrow beyond troubled waters.
